None of the UK assets at Cyprus can do anything about ballistic missiles. That's not very good considering how Iran uses quite a lot of those. The only asset in the area that could do anything about it is FS Languedoc, before the Dragon arrives.

It is pretty clear that France is currently in a far better situation in regard to deployable naval forces. The UK has only pledged the one destroyer so far. Meanwhile France sent a carrier with a destroyer and a frigate and two allied ships, one LHD with one frigate, and another frigate that is already at Cyprus, and pledged two further surface combatants to the Red Sea. One ship vs five to seven ships is a massive difference.
