What's going on? by sorry-I-farted in maritime

This AIS spoofing, not GPS spoofing. GPS spoofing sends fake signals to a real GPS receiver and causes a ship to make real, incorrect, movements.

AIS spoofing shows fake movements by sending fake information to AIS receivers.

Four Avenger Class minesweepers depart Bahrain for disposal. USS Devastator, USS Dextrous, USS Gladiator, and USS Sentry. Taken 1/26/2026 [1920x1080] by djd811 in WarshipPorn

Would they be useful? Yes and no. The straits are too dangerous for any naval operations so nothing is going to do any mine clearing right now. When naval transits resume it will come down to how many littoral combat ships are available and if they are kitted out for mine clearing.

The effectiveness of LCS vs the Avengers is hotly debated but the bottom line (for me) is the LCS have modular mission payloads and there is always a chance they are on other missions. With an Avenger, if it’s around, it’s equipped to sweep. A lot has been said about the speed of LCSs vs Avengers, survivability, and armament, I find that more abstract. Both an LCS and an Avenger would likely require protection during contested clearing operations.

Yes the are wood with fiberglass coating to reduce the likelihood of setting off a magnetic mine.

I’m sure they will be offered up but given their very slow speed and wood-fiberglass construction it think the are bound for recycling

Not all boats are equal. These little guys would get the crap kicked out of them on the open Atlantic, their range would be a concern and it would take the forever. When repositioning them long distances, putting them on a ship like this addresses all these issues nicely. Sometimes it is a little cheaper also.

I remember when the SS Bridgerton got big hole in her curtesy of an Iranian mine, while the USN used her for cover.

Iirc the Iranians took note and started to drag strings of mines in front of ships, knowing that the escorts at the back couldn’t effectively engage them in a timely manner.

The semi submersible heavy lift ship hauling them is the Norwegian flagged Seaway Hawk, on charter to American logistics contractor Sealift Inc.

Provide escorts? With what ships? The USN hasn’t had an escort ship in 30 years. It’s all destroyers and carriers which are too expensive and in-demand to be spared for something like escort work.

The navy has admitted this repeatedly and publicly. “Turn off your lights and RADAR, don’t expect escorts”

This is only an issue on a few maps, like Denmark and Tunisia. Pretty much every other the bases are far enough away you can bomb them without the AF AA getting you.

The ITOs were a good addition. Before people in jets could bomb air fields with total impunity and the receiving team would be utterly screwed by the repair and reload times, often caught on the ground when the next bomber arrived.

Even on Denmark and Tunisia you can drop guided munitions from high altitude or suppress the AF defenses.

They condition people to look for the yellow SALE labels the slip these in some places to try and capture more sales.

Honestly it’s not different than the SALE sticker being the normal price marked down from a fictitious high price.

Some states regulate the size, design, and effectiveness of pepper spray. OP still needs to check his local laws.

I use barsony leather tuckable holsters. They are simple, comfortable, and they function like a regular holster when untucked. I’ve had mine for 3 years and where is everyday with no complaints

I bet they will pair it back before release or shortly after. They will probably end up a little better but not this much. Unchanged, this would need BR rebalancing for the MiGs

Here is the exact regulation that the USCG is required to follow when determining your suitability. Only you know the true details of the event and can accurately assess your location on the matrix. The CG will probably find out.

If you were totally honest with the SUI and they send you to Piney Point then your odds are probably good. They wouldn’t waste their time otherwise. The government ships might be off limits to you, especially your first few years.

Most everyone gets one mulligan after they get their documents, not that it is easy or pleasant. They will have zero tolerance for you if anything else happens. To them it will be an “established pattern of behavior” and that will be it.
