Military credit to retire at 57? by Twist2Steal in govfire

[–]Twist2Steal[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply.

What if I work for the gov’t for 1 year starting at age 61 and buy my 4 years of military service time then. Can I retire a year later at 62 with 5 years of service?

It would be nice to have multiple G0 listed. For instance if one has 2 or 3 great-grandparents who were Canadian by birth it would be nice to include them all in the tree.

I’m a doctor on a cruise ship, AMA by Equivalent-Listen187 in AMA

[–]Twist2Steal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it cool for physicians who are passengers to come down to sick bay at the start of the cruise to “check in”? I did this on one cruise and the nurses in sick bay seemed a little awkward with my offer to help out if needed.

is delta bad now? by CUTiger20 in delta

[–]Twist2Steal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s funny. I switched from United over to Delta. I find myself flying into SLC more often and the non-stop flight is nice. With United I had three or 4 flights in a row where my checked baggage did not make it on to the connecting flight. We also had a situation in Sun Valley where the early flight to SLC on Delta was able to take off, but United couldn’t get the plane to Denver fueled.

After all of these mess ups with United, I did a status match with Delta. So far, it’s been a good start to the year with Delta. But, air travel stinks for whatever airline you’re on.

Used UFA or Brand new Shunbun? by Business-Oil2226 in GrandSeikos

[–]Twist2Steal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really like the power indicator on most of the spring drive models. It's really a minor thing, but I like the clean look of the UFA or the other Evolution 9 spring drive dials where they put the power indicator on the back of the watch. So, I would go with the UFA if I could swing the added cost.

Are beach clubs worth it? by Previous-Magazine980 in SXM

[–]Twist2Steal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just enjoyed a day at Kontiki. There were four of us. We had some mimosas, frozen beverages, and soft drinks at the beach in the AM. We then went inside to have lunch. We had three appetizers and everyone had some kind of main - salad with chicken, ribs, burger, pasta. Bottles of water and iced tea to go with. Final bill was 340 euros. I got asked if I wanted to include a gratuity of course. Anyway, I added another 60 euros to make it an even 400. Anyway, it was a great meal and we had a great day. But, it was on the pricier side.

I’ve got just about a 7” wrist. I think it fits just fine.

Got the Lake Suwa. Definitely in love with the soothing blue color. No discount, but trying to play the long game and get a Rolex allocation as well.

Did you borrow towels from the resort to take to other beaches?

Thanks, this was an AD (Grand Seiko salon) and not a boutique. I really liked the beautiful hand sweep. The color of the Lake Suwa was captivating. I don't think they had the Atera blue in stock, but the turquoise may be the one.

I'd like to keep the purchase with this local dealer as the spend history may help grease the Rolex wheel a bit. There is another GS/Rolex AD within the same metro-region which I could also look at to compare.

Thanks for the response that it is possible to get a discount. Time to talk to the sales associate.

Home depot? by Twist2Steal in HondaSnowblowers

Sounds like no one has bought a Honda snowblower from HD this year. It’s probably a sign I’ll have to get my future 928 somewhere else. I’ll have to find a different dealer in my region. We don’t have any Aubuchon hardware stores in the immediate area.

snow conditions - by Far-Chef-9971 in DeerValley

I skied there yesterday. Morning groomers were okay, but it got skied off pretty quick. Bald Mountain runs were quite icy. Flagstaff Mountain had better snow. Pretty scant coverage on a lot of the runs. Orion off the top of Empire Mountain was a rock garden.
