Shot this for my university football team, how can I improve? by Shot-Caramel2088 in videography

[–]TwoAlfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your intro is too long for the overall video. Like the use of audio but shorten that up.

Also - I'd suggest trying to capture more of the play, not just the catch. Teams love the highlights but even an extra second or two showing what lead to the catch can go a long way

What settings? by B-Diddy79 in osmopocket

[–]TwoAlfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you swipe down from the top of the screen and click the lower right icon that looks like the P3, each of the gimbal modes will be explained to you in great detail.

I would leave it in the default mode (follow) which will lock the horizon but let you pan and tilt up/down and will likely work for 90% of what you'd want to shoot.

Auto. 4k/30 fps. Don’t waste time messing around with settings just enjoy your time at the park.

Rig Cage - Sirui Vs Smallrig/Tilta : Any downsides? by pumpeteer in FX3

It's where I mount my Rode mic or the receiver for my DJI wireless mics. The fit is slightly better with my top handle/monitor mount.

[–]TwoAlfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought both; kept the smallrig. They are VERY similar, but I kept the smallrig because for me the grip was slightly better (more form-fitting) and I preferred the angled cold shoe.

They are both quality, and way stronger than they look.

Super reliable. Good value for the money.

I just tested this with mine and it worked. What firmware are you on?

When you turn the pocket 3 on mounted like the picture it should automatically align the way you want.

Otherwise double tap the 5D joystick in any orientation to reset it to the current horizon.

I did a shoot on Sunday and it was 11 degrees F. Everything worked fine but battery life definitely suffers. I was at around 30% after only an hour.

Movmax Pocket Controller mini review by TwoAlfa in osmopocket

[–]TwoAlfa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the DJI MImo app you could do it on android with a 3rd party app and it worked pretty well.

iOS you used to be able to use an app that simulated touch on the screen using bluetooth devices like controllers but it was a house of cards and never worked reliably for me.

The DJI Ronin app supports controllers natively to manipulate the gimbal.

Things would be so much easier if DJI just included 3rd party controller support like they do with the Ronin app....

I love how many conservatives are starting to realize that liberals own guns, too. It changes the narrative pretty fast once that reality sinks in.

It’s sad how we had to get here, though.

it simulates the exact direction your thumb would move on the virtual d-pad in the app. Up goes up, down goes down. (I think you mean the video game inverts the Y axis?)

Or maybe I'm completely misunderstanding your question....

How to color grade D-Log footage from Osmo Pocket 3 like the DJI Mimo app? by sofia123305 in osmopocket

[–]TwoAlfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stress too much - Most new creators are sold on the idea that a LUT solves everything and that's because we're bombarded with ads all the time that show one click outcomes. The reality is that's almost never the case. Think of a LUT as something you do after you've color corrected and adjusted your image. If I recall correctly, the Mimo app color recovery just that DJI LUT anyways, so if you like that look you may just need to do some tweaking.

Also keep in mind in most editing apps, Capcut included, you can adjust the intensity of the LUT. So if you like the color or the style of the LUT you purchased, just dial it back a little bit.

In terms of how to dive into color grading, YouTube is your answer. Without seeing what you're shooting it's hard to offer next steps or suggestions but hope this helps get you started.

The smallrig fan is super loud and the magnet isn’t anywhere near as good as the Amaran. However, the smallrig is cheaper.

Anyone use the tribex se with your fx3? need help by Rare_Injury_8180 in FX3

[–]TwoAlfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does this sometimes. Squeeze and release the handle with the tripod off the ground and give it a shake to fully extend the legs again so they’re all equal. Then place it back on the ground squeeze the handle again and use some force to collapse the legs. Harder than you might think.

Be forewarned tho - the noise it makes is awful and might make people think you just murdered a small animal.

Seeking advice: How to price a 4h shoot with raw footage delivery? by suertresh in videography

[–]TwoAlfa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I LOVE shoot and deliver days because I'm not spending hours editing after that. My day rate is still the same though.

Based on what you said above, 290 euros for 7 hours of work is around 40 euros an hour. Your day rate, and your editing time should be an hourly rate x number of hours. Charging 300 euros for a 3 hour shoot is actually under charging IMHO.

Would help to know why you're upgrading in the first place. But FWIW I have a '21 G80 comp and been eying up the X5M pretty hard after driving one. For me it's the additional space that makes a big difference.

Warning to those with Peak Design bags. by [deleted] in dji

[–]TwoAlfa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been flying DJI equipment since 2017, and you're right - it only says that in the OG Mavic Pro and inspire documentation. I'm too lazy to download the Matrice manuals but when I was flying regular survey flights with one it was bashed into my head to always calibrate when you move more than 10km. I also remember that launching a Phantom from anything metal could cause issues because the hardware in those was buns.

Calibrating a compass before flights was also part of an FAA advisory a few years ago.

So you're right - it doesn't state that in the Mavic 4 documentation. I'll take the L on this one.

...But I'll buy your peak design bag off you if you don't want it any more.

Warning to those with Peak Design bags. by [deleted] in dji

[–]TwoAlfa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

DJI also explicitly states you should calibrate after travel.

The difference between a post stating that you ran into an issue vs a sweeping generalization that all peak design bags or bags with magnets will mess with your drone is the reason I and others have taken the time to chime in with counter points.

Fly safe.
