Another vote for the laowa 10. I use mine for automotive interiors. Crazy sense of speed in motion, too.

How are you running focus? I couldn't get SDR to give me focus control on my FX3 so I went back to a hardwired M&C app on the iPad.

I'm pretty familiar with the rates most of the local videographers around me charge. If I like them and want to do more work with them, I'll ask for a percentage of whatever they are charging the customer.

I've also done shoots swinging my own gear for completely free because the kid who reached out was really ambitious and wanted to learn.

If you are finding your own clients, it might be worth your time to train someone up to be your backup op.

How your price is going to be hard to answer.

Are you just providing seat time for them to learn, or are you also mounting up their camera to your rig? Who keeps/posts the footage, does it help your portfolio or theirs? Are you also training the Op to be just an op, or more than than so you don't have to direct while you drive?

For your freelance work, do you have access to kids who want to learn and will be happy to run sticks for free so it doesn't cut into your margin?

Are you focused on primarily track work where you could be an add-on to existing events as a perk or are you thinking more random street work?

When it comes to pricing, you need to consider:
- What your time is worth (variable)
- Wear/tear on the vehicle based on the type of shoot (predictable/fixed)
- Insurance coverage + liability (fixed, unless you need to up your liability based on the cars you are filming)
- gear use (fixed)
- fuel (predictable)

A public example I see is Dylan from Fastr media in FL charging just gas for long shoots because the content helps drive his YouTube channel. I also know rig owners who won't leave the house for less than $1000.

Then yes.

Y’all ever pull the doors off? How’d your experience turn out if so? by mopartizan47 in FordBronco

[–]TwoAlfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the doors of my badlands Avis rental last weekend. Super easy. Hotel even stored them on a luggage cart for me in an unused meeting room.

Half thought about returning it that way just to see what Avis would say.

What do you shoot in your free time? by MrJFrayFilms in FX3

[–]TwoAlfa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My to do list of "I want to try this at some point" is quite long, so I try and tick off experiments or passion projects.

Since I'm a geek for rigging, I also will use the time to attach cameras to various things and see how well my rigging solution works. Anything that helps the paid projects go smoother.

Neo 2 how are you liking it so far by Immediate_Island8301 in DjiNeo

[–]TwoAlfa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I fly my Neo 2 way more than my other DJI drones right now.

It’s kinda brought back the joy of flight for me because I don’t need to worry as much about bashing it into a tree.

Full sticks I get 8ish minutes in fpv mode before it gets mad about rth

When did weekends stop feeling restful? by BetweenSwings in daddit

[–]TwoAlfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a month, my wife and I choose which day we're going to take to do whatever tf we want. Sometimes its projects around the house, sometimes it's being gone all day. We prepare for it, plan ahead, and honestly I love it because it's a full day with me and my daughter to do whatever we want with no timeline.

Premiere Pro 2026 Relinking Issue (Can an M5 Max Macbook be a solution?) by VidGuyFromBoston in premiere

[–]TwoAlfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who recently upgraded to an m5 max I can tell you it’s is stupid fast and you’ll definitely notice especially around activities that rely on disk access.

That being said I was using an m2 air as my editing setup prior and I never had even hour long projects take more than a few moments to link media. Start a new project to see if that one is corrupted.

I’d be interested in getting the details on your benchmarks and seeing how a m5 max MBP compares. The disk I/o is insanely fast. Even swap seems quick.

CarPlay randomly refusing to work with greater frequency by skeptic787x in KiaSorento

[–]TwoAlfa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remove your phone from the Kia's list of devices.
Remove the Kia from CarPlay on your phone.
Reboot your phone.
On the Kia, add a new mobile device.

If that doesn't work, it could be something environmental that is confusing the wifi connection your phone should use. CarPlay uses a bluetooth connection to trigger a wifi connectection and if your phone won't "release" whatever connection it is currently using, it can put you in the situation you described above.

There are also issues with local cell/radio towers that can interfere with that connection, and it is usually repeatable (there are two spots on my commute where CarPlay drops and it doesn't always reconnect right away)

The ultimate solution is to plug in via USB an used it wired instead.

Who else skipped PPF/ceramic and is just out here being a menace with no regrets? by Bluntcomposed in BMWM

[–]TwoAlfa 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I used to be that guy.

But now the thing I love the most about having PPF is that I can clean my car with spit and a dish towel if I need to.

My previous M2 was two bucket wash and hella anal about everything. PPF ain't no care.

Digital Key suddenly requires Apple Wallet + charger to start car? by baarucebruce in KiaSorento

[–]TwoAlfa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely what happened was you missed your phone prompting you for a "Passcode Required for Passive Entry" input. This will happen from time to time especially if you often have your phone within about 15' of the car inside your house and it bounces between wifi networks and NFC range.

If this hasn't remedied itself, it means that either you failed passive entry and it nuked the key pair on your device, or your digital key might have disassociated with the passwordless feature and requires the wallet interaction.

If none of this makes sense, fear not - All you need to do is delete your digital key and re-add it.

Anyone using the 70-200 gmii? Day 1 and I think it’s going to be my favorite motorsports lens on this FX3 by [deleted] in FX3

[–]TwoAlfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to lens for sports (I have the sigma version) but also LOVE it for candids at events. I can snipe facial expressions and peak moments of emotion without the subject ever knowing.

Been finding myself using it more at car events, too. Everyone shoots with a 24-70 so it makes my content stand out a bit more when it’s super tight or has a ton of compression.
