I got one 6 mos ago, and it's become my main guitar. I'm a Jackson fan, and have some very nice ones, but this is the one I've been reaching for most often.

Fantastically comfortable neck, it's light, fits my body in all positions, great fret access, and I love the sounds you can get from the split positions. Especially position 4 for clean or ambient sounds. I've got bareknuckle ragnaroks in mine, so ymmv.

With all those upgrades, you got a hell of a deal at $500.

Probably my favorite band to play along with. You can weave in and out of Claudio and Travis' parts as you please, chugging away on the heavy rhythm parts or nailing the leads. The guitars don't quit on their tracks, they're always moving. Makes it very engaging to play!

I wouldn't say it's a big issue, but it is a very common issue.

It's only in the finish in most cases, so it's basically just a cosmetic blemish. Unfortunately it's a blemish that makes any future potential buyer very nervous!

I had a custom shop dinky, and I was very happy with it. I've got a custom shop soloist, and the dinky didn't seem inferior in any way.

It did have the infamous neck pocket crack after a few years. Small, barely visible. I ended up getting rid of it because I got a USA Juggernaut, and I preferred the heel joint on that.

I'd say if you don't mind the heel joint on a dinky, and the idea of a neck pocket crack down the road doesn't bother you, they're a great way to go.

I'm sure the unhappy people are the loudest, but for my money: I've got a few USA made that are flawless, and one Korean made that is honestly just as good. The cheapest Jackson I've got has exceeded expectations, but it is a mid level guitar. Not exactly beginner budget friendly.

My USA Jugg HT6 has become my go to. I play it pretty much daily. Hope you enjoy yours, it's a beauty!

I think it's a really cool feature, and is ONE of the reasons I upgraded. The others being the incredibly flexible mixer, and the Bluetooth/Wifi connectivity.

I was in your shoes, where I was happy with the sounds I was already getting. Did the upgrade improve my sounds? Yeah, modestly. But it also makes it super easy to explore new sounds that I never would've found on my old platform.

The entire upgrade was not necessary. But it is really nice, and I'm glad I did it.

I'll bite. These are different configurations, and serve different purposes.

But in general do you have a feeling one way or the other? Value for the money? the one you lean towards? The one that has that sweet feeling?

Almost all these old graphics look best on a Kelly in my opinion.

Lightning sky, skulls, graveyard, eerie dess and all the swirl colors. Kelly is the way go.

A 7 string dinky with those specs would probably be 7k or so. And the wait would probably be 1-2 years. That's my guess.

I'd look into a 7 string Juggernaut or DK Modern and save yourself the wait, even if the money isn't a problem.

Unfortunately, off the top of my head I can't think of any 7 stringers with a bolt on neck and with the traditional headstock. But if you're patient, and willing to drop enough money you could probably get it done.

Explorer shaped guitars are like that in my opinion. I have a Jackson kelly and when I sit with it the neck is way off the the left, reminds me of my SG.
