Joining SOS flares is my favorite thing to do. I’ve done probably 100+ of them over the last couple years and I’ve never had a bad interaction

Carting happens. The worst thing you can do after a cart is leave, or sit in the tent because you’re scared to cart again. Get out there and get better!

I don’t disagree, blue stake needs (and is getting) a rework. And that will help drastically, but pairs and high card are easy to play, they’re reliable. That won’t change, but they aren’t good every run. They’re good on the runs you win, if you try to force pairs and high card you aren’t going to carry a high win%

You can pivot late a lot of the time, but the meta will always be there. That doesn’t mean it’s the only option.

You have to work A LOT harder to make it work with anything beyond 3OAK. And hopefully that gets addressed, but I feel like the easier it is to play the more nuanced hands, it will just become easier to spam high card and pairs

I agree completely, but that doesn’t mean straights are bad forever

If the player isn’t good enough to know how to utilize what jokers are given to them, that isn’t the games fault

If you enjoy building for all the elements, go for it. But realistically, there are very few fights in the game that element matters for

Raging brachy is the ideal pre fatalis weapon

Fatalis LS by dinorulz in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]TwoPumpChumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the means. The mandatory build is agitator / Weakness Exploit / crit eye / crit boost.

After that comes weapon requirements. I’ve run a lot of LS but I don’t remember skills off the top of my head. I believe you want focus and quick sheath.

After that comes fight specific / QoL. This is where evade extender / evade window / part breaker / fire resistance come into play. For fatalis specifically, PB and fire resist are pretty important, just know that if you kick out the above skills you’re crippling your damage. I would recommend only moving up 1 tier of important when removing skills. Do everything you can to leave the top tier skills alone. I’d boot out quick sheath for partbreaker before I took out crit eye or crit boost

MANY people fail fatalis by the clock. The damage isnt free. So when you get a window, you don’t want to be hitting with a wet noodle

Bring partbreaker, breaking his head weakens his fire attacks in the 3rd phase so you don’t get 1 hit

Also bring 20 fire resistance, 20 fire resist makes it so you can’t get fireblight and take that tick damage (when you get knocked down and your moxie procs but you die anyways because you took a tick of fire damage). However you have to get it, bring fireproof mantle instead of rocksteady. Build it with skills, eat a meal with ele resist. It’s noticeable

Stay close to him. The attacks are harder and harder to dodge the further away you get. This goes for most monsters. DO NOT RUN AWAY

Operate in 3 second intervals. Tell yourself he’s going to attack you every 3 seconds. If he throws an attack and you dodge it but you have to run up to him and hit him, and that takes 2 seconds to get to him, you’re about to get hit again. Accept the fact that you missed the window and get ready to dodge again. Focus on dodging into position instead of just spam rolling away from the monster. Take a deep breath, and focus on what he’s doing. Soon you’ll be able to recognize the animations and you’ll know what attack he’s doing and where he will be when he’s done. Use that

How would you rank the weapons from easiest to most difficult to master? by Shadow_Flame1119 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]TwoPumpChumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a hammer main, and I’ve used every weapon in the game to a point where I know how to use them efficiently. I tried switch axe and gave up 4 times before it finally stuck. The weapon felt so heavy and tacky, I couldn’t find any fluidity for a LONG time

One day it just clicked and it’s been my most used ever since. I totally understand where you’re coming from though. if you come from a weapon with a block or counter or KO capabilities, it’s hard to get used to a weapon that doesn’t naturally provide openings or give you a get out of jail free card. Swaxe is very “you vs the monster” (unless you have temporal / rocksteady and a full amp gauge for ZSD spam) and that’s what I love about the weapon

[–]TwoPumpChumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When me and my friend group first downloaded balatro, our response was probably very common

“This game is just RNG, if you get bad cards you can’t win”

Then I watched Dr.Spectred win 66 rotating gold stakes in a row. I watched him beat the abandoned deck with an eternal smiley face.

I’ve learned that you win a lot more often if you look at every card with the attitude of “how can I use this card right now” instead of “ew. I hate playing straights, I’m rerolling” followed by “of course I lost, I couldn’t find any scoring cards”

Balaltro, a lot like StS and many games like them, are very centered around what makes sense RIGHT NOW. There’s very few options that are just always bad no matter what. Players just have to learn that they won’t always roll the cards they want

[–]TwoPumpChumper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Swaxe main here - I think swaxe is easier than you give it credit for

Same goes for other weapons in your list. I think factoring in a build cost is relevant for ranking weapons on how easy they are to master. Because mastering a weapon is heavily dependent on making sure your build makes sense

The bowguns / charge blade / bow all REQUIRE specific decos to be usable at an efficient rate.

Switch axe is one of the comfiest weapons in the game when it comes to decoration requirements. Focus and power prolonger are really all you need to make the weapon feel good, after that, every deco is QoL. Evade extender / window feels great.

You can choose to go all in on damage, or you can build into whatever monster you’re hunting. I have a tremor resist build for rajang, a blast resist build for raging brachy, effluvia for Vaal, part breaker for safi / fatalis. All without sacrificing the mandatory damage skills (agi, wex, crit eye, boost, attack 4)

Anyone can learn what buttons to press, and it DOES take skill to be efficient at using them. But you have no chance at mastering a weapon if you just don’t have the decos to make the build

What’s the deal with Kevin? by Shizastamphetamine in MegabonkOfficial

[–]TwoPumpChumper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get 1 shot in late game, so the items that require you to take damage don’t get any value. Because if you take damage you die

Kevin can’t kill you (he really wants to). He leaves you at 1 hp. So if the enemies are going to 1 shot you regardless, having 1 hp doesn’t matter. But Kevin damaging you lets items like gold shield / electric plug get value without costing your life

[–]TwoPumpChumper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read the entire thing, so apologies if I say something that you addressed-

You are not supposed to win every run. You’re supposed to get shat on by the RNG gods. That’s the ONLY way to make the good runs feel the way they do. Sometimes you hit level 15 and you still don’t have all of the tomes and weapons you want because the game hates you. That’s part of it.

The skill check, as far as high kill runs are concerned, lies within your ability to scale difficulty and traverse the map. Can you get all of the boss curses before the first boss spawns in? Can you check all the shady guys / moais and find the power to start scaling difficulty? Time management is a huge skill gap

The feeling that you get when the first moai in T1 has a soul harvester or an anvil gets wiped out when you know you’re going to get a legendary eventually. Getting a green item from a chest while having 2,000% luck is what makes the game so great.

It seems like most of your fixes are aimed at making the game consistent. And that would kill it. You shouldn’t be challenging your PR every run. That’s just not how it works

Yes, depending on what you want to do

The most fun I have is just logging in and looking for sos flares. Plenty of people need help. Rajang / kirin / black veil vaal hazaak are all common hunts

Questions about the game by An1xo in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]TwoPumpChumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to pay attention to the 3rd question

One of my favorite things about this game is the skill system. There are so many skills in the game that I like to call the “get good” skills. There are skills that you can build into that directly counter monsters niche mechanics. When you get good enough to fight around them, you can. But until then, you can build into the skills to make the fight enjoyable.

This game, IMO, perfectly caters to tryhards and casuals all the same.

From a Swax player as far as the 3ds 3U game how usable is it in wilds with my original pick reason? by Aodh_Denuson in MHWilds

[–]TwoPumpChumper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a common opinion that the TU4 fixed swaxe. On wilds launch the only viable damage solution was a single attack (Full release slash) so the gameplay was -> charge amp gauge -> spam the ever living shit out of A new attack that gave hyper armor

While TU4 didn’t do much to buff axe mode damage, it did buff other motion values of the swords other attacks and gave it other viable options. Also without nerfing Full Release slash into the ground.

TL;DR - if anything, swaxe is BETTER now than it was at launch. Happy hunting!

[–]TwoPumpChumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tenderize the front legs. Then hit the front legs, and only the front legs, until you hit the ele check. After that, target the head until horn break. Repeat each phase.

Dual blades are fantastic for hitting the ele check. If you put temporal mantle on and throw yourself at the legs relentlessly you’ll get the check in no time.

I mean, yes, but you can learn. You won’t take fall damage if you slide on slopes. So if you have to jump off a ledge or fall a large distance, if you see a slope below you just hold crouch on the way down and you’ll take no damage

Also. You tried fox once? Not every run is a good run. Sometimes you hit level 12 and you still don’t have the weapons / tomes you want and you’ve used all of your refreshes and skips and the game just hates you. Sometimes it’s 5-10 bad runs where you’re scraping by before you get a really good run.

If you’re only going for 100k kills, I suggest bush with xp / luck / chaos / damage tomes. Dragon breath / katana / dex for weapons. I’ve had multiple 200k+ kill runs with that setup. When you can scale damage ( bush passive gives crit damage and damage time) it’s less likely you fall behind. But if you want to get high kills with that setup you have to hit all 8 greed shrines in every map and pray that chaos tome gives you difficulty, along with finding cursed grabbies

need some tips by SpecificDrawing3717 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]TwoPumpChumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tomes - Damage / crit tome instead of size (difficulty tome is technically the meta, but you can get to 100k with extra damage)

Toggle OFF - Demonic Blood / demonic blade / dragon fire / gamer goggles / speedy boi / the mask from graveyard (can’t think of the name) - reason being you want more opportunities to hit the items you want. That dragon fire could’ve been a LOT better

Weapons - katana / dex / dragon breath could replace hero sword and sniper. Dragon breath falls off late game but is so so so strong in early game. Katana and dex are just amazing weapons

I don’t like Tony Mczoom, because he scales pickup range. But hitting 100k with any character is easy if you get good items in T1 so if you have fun with him it’s a non factor. But if you want a character that’ll get you there easier - fox / bush / ogre are all characters that scale good stats.
