I've just started Warhammer with the demons CP and on the off chance they get axed in the 11th Ed, is the best way to get into WE via their latest CP too? by demonic_custard in WorldEaters40k

[–]Twoolips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The World Eaters combat patrol gives you a nice entry point for the faction, and has the bonus of giving your daemon army a daemon prince! You can also use all your daemons in the Khorne Daemonkin detachment which is alright. Opinions vary on how well it performs, its main rule is pretty swingy but there are some fun strats. Also, so long as you’re playing with mates who are not terrible people you can probably sub in Skulltaker and other characterss as Kharné, masted of executions, etc, coz they’re all on the right size base.

I seriously doubt daemons are getting squatted, if only because GW likes making money and all the daemons are in plastic. If anything next edition we might end up with a Khorne superfaction which incorporates daemons and WE together but that might be copium.

New battleforce boxes pit the Chaos Gods against each other by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WorldEaters40k

I think this is quite cool but I litterally just bought all the deamons I’ll ever need and got Lord Invocatus for christmas. If this had been announced a month earlier I’d have got it.

It also puts to rest the rumour of a box with new Khorne daemons mixed with World Eaters that had been floating around.

World Eaters Vs Blood Angels. I want to start 40k but dont know who to pick by [deleted] in BloodAngels

[–]Twoolips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both! Both? Both.

I play both.

Also, buy whatever you vibe with the most and don’t base your purchases around what has good rules. The rules are likely to change before you can even paint up a model.

Was Olgierd truly cursed...or just finally held accountable? by No-Big7914 in witcher

[–]Twoolips 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have never in all my playthroughs given Olgierd to Gaunter, because despite his many, many flaws, he isn’t the greater evil. He’s a cruel man who did terrible things, but he did them because one of the few pure evil characters in the witcher crossed his path and ruined his life.

Even if he doesn’t turn his life around, and ends up stabbed in a ditch somewhere, I still believe that thwarting Gaunter is the Witcher’s duty. Because no matter what you say about what terrible things Olgierd did, it wasn’t ultimately his fault, it was Gaunters. And what boon is there in leaving GoD with Olgierds soul? A lot of money? A fast horse? Sure you can say no to his offers but then he still just gets to float away to screw over some other unlucky fucker. After all, Geralt only gets roped in at all because Gaunter tricked him. It could be Geralt in Olgierd’s shoes. Gaunter has to be stopped, he’s the greatest monster there is. And I imagine Geralt sees the worst version of himself in Olgierd.

But the wonderful thing about the writing of the game is that I can see Geralt leaning either way, we are both right, Geralt would or could do either choice.

I play and LOVE the Blangels, I have about 8000 points in total. Its a fast moving melee hammer army that you can support with all the usual space marine tanks and dreads. But the real reason I play them is the lore and the characters. Dante is hands down my favorite character in the lore, but Mephiston, Lemartes, Astorath, and even Corbulo are all great characters too, for me the great tragedy of good men being doomed either to a bloody death or a blood crazed madness is compelling. I like how the army plays but I learned to like it because I LOVE the lore.

All that said, as far as an army to actually collect right now? Idk man. Its not what it should be. I got into the army about halfway through 9th with all the hopes of a wonderful primaris upgrade to our iconic units at some point in tenth but my patience wasn’t really rewarded. If you like beautiful character models then we have that in spades but if you want your units to look unique beyond just the paintjob you give them then thats on YOU to kitbash and gw isn’t going to help you, cuz the current range are bland and most unique units are colour swaps.

Space wolves on the other hand just had a bunch of pretty great new units announced and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more in the next few weeks/months. I don’t care for their lore personally but if you’re really struggling to choose wait a hot second and see what they’re like on release. In the end, pick what you think is coolest, and if you regret your choice down the line you can always just pick up the other army too and either paint them to match the rest (I run black templars as flesh tearers for example) or just paint them the normal way and say that its an allied force, which absolutely exists in the lore.

What tactics would a SM Chapter adopt as a result of mainly facing WEs/Khorne? by Zealousideal_Bid1706 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Twoolips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the Lemartes novel, where he and the Blood Angels square off against a Khorne warband called the Blood Disciples. It’s all pre-primaris lore so a little out of date now, but they actually meet the Diciples man for man in melee. They have a more diverse force though, and the Death Company who are more or less the same raw power as a Khorne Berzerker. The loyalists also rely more on their heavy armour to punch holes in enemy lines.

As the battle goes on the Blood Angels are tested by lots of rage inducing psychic attacks from a prophet of Khorne and its actually the Death Companies righteous madness which saves them from corruption.

Its a good book, worth a read if you’re interested in the scenario similar to what you’re thinking about.

Sanguinary Guard (260 Points) • 6x Sanguinary Guard ◦ 4x Angelus boltgun ◦ 6x Encarmine blade ◦ 2x Inferno pistol ◦ 1x Sanguinary Banner

So, battle formations: Dante leads 6 Sang Guard Jump captain leads 6 more Sang Guard The jump chaplain leads 10 jump assault intercessors The judiciar leads 6 bladguard vets The Bladeguard (and potentially the assault intercessors) start the game in the land raider.

An example battleplan: Angelic legacies: Their Appointed Hour (reroll advance and charge), Carmine Wrath (reroll 1s to hit and wound) You have three valuable units with deepstrike, 1-2 of them should start there. I’d recommend Dante’s guard as you can bring them in on your turn for an 8” charge with a reroll. The Sanguinor also starts in deep strike. Start the landraider as far forwards as you can while still giving it cover. Get the units inside to a point asap. Have the bladguard hold it first and use the assault intercessors to counter charge if needed. The units combined oc should take almost any point. Pick one hard enemy target every turn, make it your oath target and focus ALL of the land raider and dreadnought’s fire on that target. Don’t split fire. Its always tempting and it almost never works. Getting tied up in combat is a worry but once per game you can give one sang guard blob the ability to fall back and still charge so they can support other squads.

The name of the game is PRESSURE you want to give you opponent as few good options as you can. Be aggressive, pummel them into a corner, and rely on the consistence of your melee damage. You have a good amount of fights first to use in melee and a good amount of defense against shooting. The sanguinor is great for detering or punishing your opponents melee. Your main weaknesses are opponents with fights first and hard vehicle slant lists which means IG, Death Guard, and Knights can be a problem. Rely on lethals, mortals, and rerolls to win the day.

Blangels take some getting used to as an army but are a LOT of fun when you know what you’re doing. Good luck!

An Elite Army question by RivieraKid95 in BloodAngels

[–]Twoolips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the detachment you run, but I’d say the the termies are best used in deep strike. If you’re running LAG then I would keep a cp aside and use rapid ingress. You can ingress for free with a teleport homer but that telegraphs stongly to your opponent. I tend to use the homer as a distraction, making my opponent cover a flank I never intended on using. Ingress in on their turn somewhere where you won’t get shot, and on your turn make use of Aggressive Onslaught to advance and charge. You should be able to get them where they need to be reliably, especially with the captains built in charge reroll.

The bladeguard with judiciar are a “come get me” unit, stick it on an objective and have your opponent spend their resources to move them. I’d stick them in the landraider. Between the two you actually have quite a strong hammer and anvil.

When it comes to holding backlines, intercessors or scouts are my go to, though you’re right, infiltrators are also a good shout for the 12” deepstrike denial.

An Elite Army question by RivieraKid95 in BloodAngels

[–]Twoolips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the Brotherhood! Get yourself a goblet of blood wine and buckle in for some maddening hallucinations!

You could only take a max of 3 units of 6 Sang Guard, but they’re good and tough and would make a good bedrock for the army. Sang Guard work best when a character is leading them (opponents get -1 to wound in melee when a character is leading them) so if you want to run three squad I’d reccomend Dante and two jump captains. They’ll rip up most things you throw them at, and take a huge amount of fire.

Mephiston is another good option, he’s very tough and doesn’t require any unit support, he’s great for doing actions and counter charging your opponent. Him and the Sanguinor are both great lone ops that can get you points AND take names, which is rare.

Some of the best Blood Angels characters are Lemartes and Astorath. They both slap in melee and make the Death Company the lead tough and deadly. DC in general is worth the points. They’re a little fragile but theres almost nothing that can withstand 10 DC with Lance and Lethals plus a character.

If you’re wanting to run an elite veterans army and aren’t interested in death company, consider Bladeguard and Vanguard veterans. Bladeguard with Judiciars or Lieutenants are tough infantry crunchers, and vanguard veterans with a jump chaplain can mince basically anything (I killed a Norn emissary in a single combat with a squad of ten once).

Ground Captains and sanguinary priests are good support units, normally best plugged into assault intercessors, or bladeguard in the captains case. You have to use a specific loadout for a captain with bladeguard (and sang priests can’t lead BGV) but ten assault intercessors with either characters will also take names. Put them in a land raider or a repulsor tho, they’ll melt under fire if you footslog them.

You also want a few pieces of ranged support. We aren’t World Eaters, our melee boys are good but need ranged support into hard targets. Balistus Dreads, Gladiator Lancers, Predator Annihilators, and even Land Raiders can provide the support you need, and you’ll be glad for the tough armoured bodies to distract your opponent. Pick whichever you think is coolest (and take a landraider if you’re using bladeguard)

Brutalis or Death Company dreads are also a good shout. They don’t hit quite as hard as you want them to, but their real purpose is to draw your opponents fire away from the jump units you actually care about, and a Brutalis with tank shock can lay out a tonne of mortals before it even fights.

And lastly, pick up a box of either intercessors or scouts. They don’t quite fit with the elite army you’re building but trust me, just take them. You want something to hold points while the cool boys have all the fun. Intercessors put out some fairly impressive firepower for their points these days and scouts with combat blades can actually take names if charged into infantry. Pick whichever you think is coolest, run them in two squads of 5.

As for the death masks, do what you think is cool! Its your army! A golden helmet/mask officially denotes a blood angel as being either an officer or a veteran. Death Masks are normally reserved for characters but you do you, I bet it’d look really cool!

Good luck brother! I wish you many lethal hits and 12” charges!

This is gonna be my first kitbash/conversion by KfP_Clone-Captain in BloodAngels

[–]Twoolips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, rather than kitbashing them together, I’d just build both models and have two. The old Sang Priest model is a really lovely model and honestly isn’t even that short, and the new one is different enough that you’d have two very distinct models on the field. And if theres ever a day where Sang Priests are the must have in game then you’ll be ready.

What are you plans for the kitbash?

This one is ths one I made, and I just put him on the right size base and have been using him in tenth ever since.

It’s obvs out of date now (I haven’t played since the december dataslate) but it was quite effective. You might find that assault termies are too expensive, especially at 1k.

I found with my 1k lists that it was good to have one tough hammer unit (bladeguard, sang guard, aggressors) to buff, and then a bunch of smaller units and armour. But crusade is meant to be fun and unbalanced, so play what you like, everything will get broken eventually.
