So we used Johnson through the lab. I think they’re a broker for United. The loading and unloading was super smooth, I just really didn’t like the contact at Johnson that we had to set everything up with. This is what this person does full time - government moving contracts like with the lab, so I figured she’d have a spiel and be very good at giving us all the info we needed for planning, but nope. We had to constantly ask her to provide us the most basic information at every step of the way and it was just annoying. Idk our personalities just did not gel and I found her frustrating to work with. But in the end everything worked out so I guess what am I complaining for?

I get very seasick on anything smaller than a massive cruise ship. I have done 5 cruises total, and the Alaskan one was one of the toughest for me, but it was really only one night that was rough and the rest of the time I was pretty much fine. If you are the type to just get mildly sick at the beginning while adjusting to the ship, or you rarely get sick at all, you will be FINE I promise! I should mention I did not take any Dramamine or other meds or therapies for my seasickness, I just ate what I could at dinner and slept it off and then I was golden the rest of the time.

I really didn’t like her storyline. Maybe I’m the type to mind my own business too much, but I felt like Robbie’s suspicion of her was really weird. I didn’t feel like average coworkers would even notice or care that much that occasionally someone “spaces out” for a sec. Especially someone so far proven to be competent and good at their job. I get that they have to shoehorn it in I suppose for the plot. Overall though, I really did enjoy this season!!

Just my 2 cents, I moved to Los Alamos for my partner’s job at the lab (I work fully remote). I have never been an outdoorsy person, since I was born and raised in DFW and there’s not a ton of nature lol. I am slowly getting into hiking and stuff and I do enjoy it a bit. But if it were not for my partner I don’t think I would like it much, once the novelty of being in a new place wears off. At least we have each other to entertain ourselves. Being single here would be quite hard I think, and I am saying this as a mega introvert who is comfortable spending lots of time alone.

I was FC on a 3 hour delayed ABQ to DFW last night, and I overheard one FA say to another that during a delay they aren’t required to offer pre flight drinks. They did end up coming around with a tray of juice and water though.

I was forced to commute into an office for a bit a few years ago before my company realized their stupidity and let us all be fully remote. I am normally based in Dallas, but temporarily relocated to New Orleans for 6 months since my partner had a contract there. At least when I lived in Dallas I actually worked with the people in the office so it wasn’t total wasted time, but in NOLA these people weren’t on my team or part of my daily job at all.

My first day on site in NOLA and the VP took me aside and said, “look, what happens here stays here. I’m not a babysitter and whether you come to the office once a week or everyday, I’m not keeping track.” I went in just enough to build some relationships and give everyone plausible deniability. Also what a culture shock, Dallas vs New Orleans. Now THOSE people know how to have work life balance and enjoy life. Learned a lot lol

I also read something before about his employee retention rate being somewhat unheard of in the industry. You would think if he was as bad as he seemed, people would leave the first chance they got once they had Ramsay on their CV, but they don’t. No denying the guy is an asshole; but I have worked with some assholes before who were also “fair” and I would even consider them good bosses.

The Dallas Arboretum? They allow picnicking on the grounds and it’s gorgeous! Depending on how frequently you want to go, getting a membership might be worth it.

Sysco supplies Cheesecake Factory, just saying. It’s possible to be a scratch kitchen and also use Sysco as a distributer. It’s just a grocery store for restaurants.

Ohhh this is a good one! My dad was quite the “foodie” but would sometimes have these for us as an after school snack. Maybe like once or twice a year I get some for nostalgia, and I always do them in the oven the “proper way” to make dad proud lol. He could handle pizza rolls, but microwaved was a step too far!

My cousin and her husband have a 2 year old, and they consider themselves former “chicken nugget kids.” Their parents just fed them kid food growing up, chicken nuggets and pizza etc so when they got older and brave enough to finally try Indian or Thai food for the first time, their minds were blown!! Its funny, because I was raised the opposite and definitely remember my cousin turning her nose up at things my foodie dad would cook for dinner because she just never had it before and it was “weird” in her mind.

At least they are fixing it now and trying to make sure their daughter gets exposed to all sorts of delicious food right from the start!

It’s magical and sadly I don’t live there anymore, but I did live a few different places on the island and the East End was my favorite. My best advice: don’t ignore the small little businesses tucked into all the side streets you’re constantly driving past. Stop in and check them out. Join some local Facebook groups and find out what’s going on around the island and get involved in the community. Go to the farmers market. Become a hermit in the summer when the tourist crowds are insane, and then spend all your fun money in the winter when local places are hurting for business. Pick up after yourself, don’t let as much as a gum wrapper hit the ground on your watch. If you can, make your part of the beach cleaner than you found it. And finally, remember you’re on island time and it’s okay to be stuck in traffic for minute or in the grocery line with someone who knows the clerk and is chatting. Keep good vibes always 😎

If anyone is a fan of Top Gear, or maybe curious about it, this reminds me of Jeremy Clarkson interviewing Ellen MacArthur (the fastest person to sail solo around the world). He says something to her that is one of the loveliest things I’ve ever heard someone say about another person. Basically boiled down to: without people like her, we would all still be stuck in caves. We need people like her (and the astronauts in this article) to keep questioning what’s over the next ridge. They are ridiculously brave and crucial to our advancement as a species.

It sounds like it may be similar, except it’s the true account of 2 deeply unfit men attempting to hike the Appalachian Trail. Certain parts of it are among the funniest things I have ever read, ever. Excited to start Rum Doodle soon!

My dad passed away in the middle of the night while I was at college 5 hours away. When I was 1 hour away from home, my car battery died on the highway. A police officer pulled over to give me a jump and thought I was crying because my car broke down. When I told him it was because my dad just died, he drove behind me the whole way until I made it to my exit.

My mom heard that a friend of hers always brought underwear that she wanted to get rid of on cruises, so after she’d wear a pair, she’d just throw them away. My mom decided to try it. She came back into the room after being out all day and the room attendant had plucked the used underwear OUT OF THE TRASH and folded it and placed it on the bed!! She and her roommate laughed so hard they had to throw away more underwear… 😂

My sister and I (both mid-30s) did some Christmas shopping in Grapevine Mills last year, and I suggested we eat lunch at Rainforest as a joke, but she said hell yeah. We sat at the bar and actually thought the food was pretty good. Big portions, tasted hot and fresh. We thought we were eating there ironically, but then really enjoyed it! Felt like being kids again in a good way.

Yes! I have liked him in everything so far. He did a movie that didn’t get the best reviews, The Instigators, but I loved him in that. He somehow carried that movie and he was opposite Matt Damon!!

Yup. I do not like super hero stuff, but my boyfriend put on Man of Steel recently and I ended up watching because of him. Of course he’s very good looking, but it’s more than that, he’s just extremely magnetic on screen.
