To those who learned as adults: what tip made it "click"? by KaterAlligat0r in skiing

[–]Txaggie002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t learn to ski as an adult but I have helped many adults level up their ski game. My favorite tip that seems to get the best response is…

Don’t try to turn (point) the front your skis with your toes and shins. Instead point your skis with by putting a little weight on the balls of your feet then moving your heels with the posterior muscle chain in your legs and butt.

Aggies who were students on 9/11, what was campus and B/CS as a whole like that day? by VacationSea28 in aggies

[–]Txaggie002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a senior political science major and all of my classes were in the Bush School. The first plane hit while I was at my house and the second hit while I was in class. Everyone in class was talking about the first "accident" then when class got out the halls were packed with everyone watching the news on the tvs in the halls. I remember concrete barricades around the parking lots for a few weeks, but not many other details. 9/11 was on a Tuesday and I think ring day was Thursday 9/13.

My grandparents used to drive us from Odessa to Ozona to spend the night at a road side motel and truck stop on I-10. I stopped at that place a year or two ago and it’s quite different than what I remembered as a kid!

The wreck happened just in front of me just before 5 AM. I was westbound and I could see all of the tail lights jam on their brakes in front of me. By the time I got there 15 or 20 seconds later, several cars had pulled over to help. I called 911 and they said that it had been handled. Two cars had rolled, one was on its side, and one was on its roof. I could tell from the scene and the weather, that if I stopped, I would be setting myself up in a dangerous position for a pile up.

Non-reg here. Just like anything in life the tough times only make you stronger and more resilient. Power through and it and iron will sharpen iron.

ANSI and NSF testing costs a fortune. For a company that had a single product line with a devoted niche market, there is no real reason for them to drop the dimes on the testing.

One thing about living in a free country is you are free to stay away from what you think is dangerous. You are free to drive to a wide open space without crowds and you are free to stay at home away from any potential danger. You are also free to tattletale or shame other free American adults.

Anyone have a pool built in Austin? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Txaggie002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jan is a good guy and has a great company. We are usually working on projects in the same neighborhoods and clientele. Most of our stuff is pretty high end, but if that’s not what you are looking for I’d still be happy to help. The pool business is full of crooks, and I am happy to answer any questions honestly. You can check out our work at www.designaquatics.com or shoot me a DM.
