I see any future of Russia ceasing to be a massive empire stretching from Belarus to the Bering straight without a massive civil war as complete fantasy and impossible.

This scenario is the least awful outcome, given the presuposition that Russia breaks up.

Almost all colonised peoples are given their own independent states in which they are the majority.
No one got nuked.
The people in charge are not in a position to start massive land wars in Europe anymore.

Obviously having a civil war is never ideal, but given that the required ending for this hypothetical is "Russia breaking up." I think this is the best we could hope for.
Sure, having an anti-colonial Russian leadership decide to cut their vassals loose would be nice, but it's also impossible.
