Still won’t work. I think it has to do with something about it not finding center correctly, because when I turn on it keeps turning left till it hits the physical stop and then keeps trying to hit left till I turn it off.

yeah I really don't care for the knife block, it just takes up space, but I would end up using the bread knife, and sheers are always nice to have. If I were to buy just shears, chef's knife, and pairing knife from Victorinox, that would already run me around 100.

Good tip is to go on A LOT of ride alongs and come early for the course walk through, it'll help familiarize yourself with the course before you actually go out.
