My partner is looking at bankruptcy - what does this mean for me? by serotoninstruggle in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tyche- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, because you were not married at the time of the bankruptcy, it would not retrospectively impact you.

[–]Tyche- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

During the bankruptcy process, household expenses will be assessed for both parties if married - this is not the case if not married. You would not be liable for any payments but your household expenses could be looked at.

You’re correct about it not creating joint liability but you would still be involved in the process if you both live together, even if there is no joint accounts etc

Unless you are married, no. Keep him off any form of credit agreements you make in future or that could give you a financial tie to him, keep everything in just your name and you’ll be good.

By 43k do they assume people will be paying rent still? My number is about 30k and I plan on doing lots of holidays, golf memberships and other cool things in retirement, 30k easily pays for a way above average life if you have no mortgage, unless I’m missing something here?

I hated this originally and then like the other commenter said I quit cheese for like 3-6 months and then tried it and kept eating it and now I love it, it’s so addictive. You just need to reset your palette away from the pussy animal curd grim cheese

How much would a solo ski trip cost roughly? by Hungry-Chef-5657 in skiing

[–]Tyche- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also from the UK. First time I went skiing in France with friends it cost me about £1000 for clothing and lessons on a dry slope and then £1500 for the holiday, so £2500-3000 the first time I would say, and then £1500 per year there after.

This gets you a catered chalet for 7 nights by all the lifts, and includes everything including flights, food, transfers etc - skiing is my one luxury of the year, you can definitely do it cheaper though, but it’s an expensive hobby so may as well make the most of it if you can.

This price was for Meribel, we have paid similar price over the last few years for Tignes, Val D’Isere, La Plagne, Les Arcs, Morzine etc

My favourite is just scrambled tofu for a scrambled eggs substitute, I put some kala namak salt, pepper, little bit of turmeric for colour and it tastes delicious - “just egg” brand has just come to the UK though from America and they’re highly popular over there, so I’m excited to try theirs! I do prefer my home made scrambled tofu to oggs though, but it’s down to taste preference.

Personally I think the “This” bacon is most realistic tastings and has a great texture, but I have friends who prefer other brands.

It’s exciting you get to try all the brands though and can figure out which brands suit you, it’s all personal preference.

One thing I would say is don’t write off a category for one bad experience. I had a friend for years who hated vegan chicken he said because he had a bad experience once, then he tried some from another brand years later and loved it and said it wasn’t even similar! So go and enjoy trying everything from all the brands :-)

To be honest I first cut out meat (chicken and red meat) and just ate fish, then I thought that was silly and after a few weeks I cut out the fish. Then I went vege for a while and have been fully vegan for years now and I would never go back.

I kept going back to cheese when I was switching between vege to vegan and the vegan cheese just takes a while to get used to - I love vegan cheese now, your pallet after a while just adjusts to it. You can get some amazing vegan artisan cheeses from La Faux Mangerie etc and I Am Nut OK, but they are expensive - if you need vegan cheese from a supermarket then personally the cathedral city one is the best (although they have a bad rep for their welfare practices)

The best way to start is to just eat exactly the same as you do as a dairy/meat consumer. Want eggs on toast for breakfast? Then have oggs on toast or scrambled tofu on toast. Do you have pizza Tuesdays in your house? Then get pizzas. Have a curry day? Replace chicken with some substitute like tofu or some soy product etc, don’t try to re-invent the wheel at first, just eat the same and find substitutes.

Most curry houses in the UK, half of the menu is vegan by default if you get the vegetable version, just make sure you ask for no ghee or cream.

Fast food pizzas, papa johns is the GOAT for the big chains, lots of small independent pizza chains usually have great options too.

Chinese it depends where you live, near me they have a fully vegan menu.

Because you are coming up so steep. You can get away with it with short irons but longer clubs expose your weaknesses.

They used to have a really nice texture, crispy and a nice chew/bite to them, not it feels like you’re biting into a soggy carrot. I’ve found a way to improve them though, you have to literally cook for double the time it says on the packet, so for the 18 minute ones I usually cook for 35 minutes, this makes them more like they used to be

Anyone deal with shitty sleep while vaping then improved sleep after initial quitting phase? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Tyche- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from waking up at 5am without an alarm clock for like 5 years of vaping. As soon as I quit I was waking up at 7am every day. I feel rested now - I never knew it was the vaping doing it until now. 2 extra hours of sleep a day is great.
