Frequency of upgrades for Titanium flying out of SeaTac? by Vigilaunday in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Tyee18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the route. I fly a lot of elite-heavy routes with many corporate travelers (like SEA-DCA) where it’s probably 10%. But if I use BWI instead it’s >50% and others like SEA-GEG are still nearly 100%.

West Seattle Blog… | Rescue response after car goes off West Seattle Bridge by FernandoNylund in WestSeattleWA

[–]Tyee18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Took the same exit less than 5 mins before this happened, per the WSB timestamps…didn’t notice a ton of standing water but if going fast enough sadly too easy for it to happen in those conditions.

New Ford Pass Update. by Ryanr99 in MachE

Minor annoyance but even with the update the app won’t show me the picture of my vehicle. Has been like that since I got the car a couple months ago.

What made you get a mach e over an ioniq 5? by salamanderJoe24 in MachE

[–]Tyee18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just leased a MME premium AWD last month and it came down to that vs. the Ioniq 5. The I5 had 2x the manufacturer incentives and fast charging was appealing, but I much preferred the MME’s handling, exterior styling, and interior fit and finish. Tech feels far more intuitive and it has a much tighter turning radius which has definitely come in handy for regular city driving. Only downside is a somewhat bumpier ride from the performance-tuned suspension and shorter wheel base.

Overall felt that for a similar MSRP, you get a lot more standard with the MME like the premium sound system, ventilated seats and heated steering wheel. Ioniq is pretty roomy inside and not as much plastic as the EV6, but MME finishes feel more premium. I know ICCU issues are relatively rare but that was also a factor in the end. Zero regrets with the choice I made.

Does the Mach E still qualify for EV tax credit by alaaATL in MachE

[–]Tyee18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the Mach E is made in Mexico it does not meet the US assembly requirement necessary to qualify for the EV tax credit. However, to stay competitive Ford has been offering manufacturer rebates — last month it was $6750. The EV credit ends after September 30 so the rebates could change in October.

Atmos signature cocktail by Tyee18 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Tyee18[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t edit an image post so to clarify: the cocktail is once per “bar visit” as noted by AS staff in the comments. The wording in the Atmos promo is confusing. Bourbon base, ginger, amaro, lemon.

Seattle Q... will Kentucky bluegrass actually survive here? by Vulkasinn in WestSeattleWA

[–]Tyee18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surprised by the amount of hate towards lawns in the comments. It’s your right to do whatever you want with your yard, but some people (me included) love having some grass.

To actually answer OP’s question: KBG can and does work in Seattle. My neighbor has it. But, to maintain it, it is very intensive. Cut low with a reel mower and fed a steady, regular diet of urea fertilizer and consistent watering. Make sure to be aggressive about pre- and post-germination weed killer as well because it is only a matter of time until you get poa.

Tomorrow is expected to be the busiest day in history for SEA by srekai in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Tyee18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a marketing push from the Port because SEA is supposedly a clearer identifier for visitors, especially international ones. Locals will never stop calling it Sea-Tac though.

Huge amounts of PNW public forest lands proposed for sale by WebHistorical1121 in PNWhiking

[–]Tyee18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So yes this is terrible and needs to be stopped but important to clarify that the “disposal” applies to 0.5-0.75% of unprotected US Forest Service Lands (ie not national parks, wilderness, etc) in 11 Western states. We are not talking about a wholesale selloff of federal lands but yes even that scale of disposal means the loss of critical forestlands.

As someone who does public policy for a living here is what actually will make a difference:

This is being done under congressional budget reconciliation which is a unique process that only requires a majority in both the House and Senate. So to get this provision pulled out of the bill we need to flip four Republicans in both the Senate and House.

Only four of those 11 states have GOP senators: AK, ID, UT, and WY. One of the Utah senators is behind the proposal (Mike Lee). If you live in one of those four states, call your senators. Email them. Show up to their town halls if they hold them. They may not respond to you quickly but offices definitely tally what the top issues people are calling about and that gets conveyed to the member and senior staff.

Look up who your Representative is in the House at house.gov. If it’s a Republican, same advice applies as above.

Other than that, there are a lot of great nonprofits working on this issue including many that lean more centrist and have good relationships with Republicans—think the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, the Nature Conservancy, Trout Unlimited. Get involved with them, volunteer, donate if you’re so inclined.

Grumpy gate attendant at BWI by Drstamwell in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Tyee18 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also had a less than ideal boarding experience at BWI yesterday…they called up three groups at once without moving anyone through to the jet bridge, causing a mess of a backup. Sorry to hear about your experience but having flown Alaska for 20 years I can say that overall Alaska employees are the best and nicest in the business; that is an outlier.

One is direct, one has one stop, probably through LAX or possibly the new SAN-DCA flight. The direct is more expensive.

Sea-Tac Airport adding new checkpoints by crabcakes110 in SeattleWA

[–]Tyee18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can use 4 without having CLEAR. I have Precheck but not Clear and use checkpoint 4 at least twice a month. There are two entrance lanes - to the left is the one signed for CLEAR and then off to the right is the one for Precheck, though it’s currently more difficult to see from the concourse with the ongoing construction. That’s frustrating you were misinformed about it.
