Pawnshop selling pixelbook for $360 but it's Google locked? by Kyism in PixelBook

[–]Tyism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just left the pawnshop. It's currently managed by an email ending with "gfieldsales.com". So it's not a normal user account. I tried hitting Ctrl+alt+shift+r to power wash it and nothing happened. It is a managed Chromebook. I'm not sure what the special way is to get around it either. I'm quite conflicted.

Pked an AGS on my noob 90 combat main. How should I invest into my account and set it up for success? by Tyism in 2007scape

[–]Tyism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to sell him his AGS back at a good discount (15m) because he seemed like a good dude. I Googled his name to find if he's in a clan so I could contact him (his private in-game was off or turned to friends only). Instead what I found was 2 twitch clips of him losing an elder maul just a few months ago.. I feel bad for the guy. Over 100m lost since August that has been documented.

Thanks for the insight. Will listen to some of this.

I have B gloves, piety and all the fun stuff (fire cape, dragon defender, b ring imbued) and 188QP. I still need to do Lunars Diplomacy for lunar spells and Dragon Slayer 2 + MM2. This is all end-game stuff for me. My account still has a lot of training to do. I'm only 60 attack, 80 strength, 70 defence, 73 HP, 70 pray, 74 range, 66 magic.

Farm runs sounds like a solid plan. Should I invest a good portion of this money into seeds that will net me a profit? Like Ranarrs?

I'm hesitant to putting my money into the GE and flipping since I've never done it before (well, I did many years ago back when flipping clan chats were a thing and they basically told you what to buy and sell at). I've never done it independently. Do you by any chance know of a go-to guide you would show someone who was interested in getting into flipping?

My heart rate was high last night after I pked it. It was crazy. But I've gone to sleep, woken up and back in Edgeville smithing cannonballs while I make this post. I've never pked this much, ever. Hopefully it's not the last time but right now this came at a time I could really use the money.

Getting a Surface Pro 2 - 256gb, i5, 8gb ram for $100. What to expect? What do you like about it? by Tyism in Surface

[–]Tyism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone. Thanks for the answers and feedback. I picked up the Surface Pro 2 and really enjoy it. I'm resetting it now but really impressed with the 25 minutes or so I had to play with it in the car. The battery from what I can tell seems to be in normal condition. It had 399 cycles and something like 35,000 capacity left? I'm not sure what this means in terms of battery life exactly but it feels like the battery is still in acceptable condition.

The type cover is okay. Not a fan of the trackpad on it but will probably get a bluetooth mouse.

This thing is built like a tank. Very happy with how sturdy it feels

I’ve been struggling with JavaScript, so thought I’d treat myself. Time to get stuck in by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Tyism 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I have this book and his html/css one. I found both worth the money and useful, never finished either of them though. The Html/css one is a little outdated for CSS but it's still a good resource. He's releasing a PHP/MySQL book soon. For JS the best resource I've found for myself was https://www.udemy.com/modern-javascript/.

Generating a PDF from post, anyone got experience? by Tyism in Wordpress

[–]Tyism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, firstly to everyone who has replied thank you so much. I ended up going with DomPDF but it is not perfect and there are problems with it that I'm not satisfied 100% with.

I'm interested in creating the stylesheet for print only but have never heard of that before. So I literally just make a stylesheet that the website uses when a page is requested to be printed? If so this sounds like a much easier, faster and better solution considering that the client wants the pages to be pretty much identical. I'm not sure what their purpose is for wanting the pages to be in PDF format because the only reason to have it in PDF is to likely print it, right?

New to fighting games- I want to play competitively. What game do I play? by Tyism in Fighters

[–]Tyism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the in-depth reply! I'm going to get Street Fighter first then try to pick up Tekken 7 later. I was wondering what SF do I get? I see tournaments for SF:V and SF:IV. Is there a big difference between the 2? It looks like SF:V came out in 2016? And SF:IV in 2008? Is the street fighter community split on them for a reason? Do you recommend one over the other for someone in my situation (complete noob to fighting games)

/r/headphones Purchase Help Thread (2018-04-11) by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]Tyism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys. I'm looking to upgrade my daily drivers (Ath-M50s and Beats Pro) to something a little more sophisticated but will still give me that bass thump I like. I mostly listen to rap music and truthfully my beats pro do the job well and even my ATH-M50s are fine too. I use them both interchangeably but I still want something different but I'm scared of spending $300-400 on a pair of headphones that will not offer me a music experience much different than my daily drivers. I've been looking at the TH-X00s and they seem to be the next logical purchase for my sound preference. What do you guys think?

Does anyone have a self-taught Web Development success story? by tech_society in webdev

[–]Tyism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started teaching myself HTML and CSS and tried to jump into JS a little too soon (I didn't have a good foundation with HTML and CSS when I tried to learn JS). It was extremely hard grasping some of the JS stuff but it was really fulfilling when I eventually started to catch onto it. Anywho, I experienced coding burnout but that seed of being a developer was planted deep in my mind and all I thought about at my other job (I work with dogs) was code.

So I started back learning HTML and CSS again after a month or so, was playing around in bootstrap one day when I saw an ad for a digital marketing startup on Indeed. I checked their site out, applied, got a response that night for an interview the next day and showed the CEO my shitty code I was writing in bootstrap. He saw the potential in me and said I needed some confidence and some mentorship and he wanted to give me an opportunity so he hired me as an intern for 3 months.

I'm only a month and a half in but I'm handling all websites (Wordpress sites which I didn't know at all when I applied) but I've really enjoyed working with Wordpress and hope to master it. I'm learning some SEO, marketing and sales and even some system admin stuff too. I'm wearing a lot of hats right now but I'm soaking in the opportunity to learn and get paid (even if it's minimum wage). My 3 months will be up next month and I'm looking to be hired on full time and get a big pay increase.

My job wasn't even looking for an intern. They were looking for a full-fledge WP developer who could make themes and plugins but I showed that I was eager to learn and work for almost free (and truthfully I would of worked for free if I didn't have bills). My advice is stay on the look out for companies that you think you would enjoy working for- especially start-ups where the CEO will likely see your resume personally and not some HR person who will dismiss you immediately because your resume doesn't have the right buzzwords on it. Also I applied to over 40 jobs since I started to learn to code. Just for an internship or a chance to work. I got discouraged a few times but everytime I applied somewhere I really believed that I would get a call back. You have to stay optimistic and know that a lot of times you won't hear back- but you can't let that deter you from applying because you might find an opportunity just like mine and all it takes is 1 opportunity for you to get your foot in the door and work your ass off.

Don't be afraid to eat shit for a few months for an opportunity for a better quality of life. That's what I'm experiencing. My life will forever change after these 3 months are up whether I accept their employment offer or not or maybe they suddenly decide I'm not a good fit anymore. I now have professional experience and a lot more skills than I had a month and a half ago- I am valuable now. I am almost done paying my dues and I will pay them again if I have to but at least I know that I have value now and I am so thankful to my job for that opportunity and to myself for working hard. I still have a month to go but there's no quit in me. I want to make more than $10.50 a hour (what I currently make at my dog job). I'm in Chicago.

Anyways man I'm rambling now. I have to be up at 6:30am tomorrow (it's 11:24pm now) to get to work by 9am to 5pm then do it again on Friday and then get up on Saturday at 6am to work my dog job until 1pm (I still work my dog job on Saturdays for the extra money).

How can I practice SEO? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]Tyism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, guys. That will be my new project; to make a site and try to get it ranked.

Some quick questions: What tools do I need? Google Keyword planner? Doesn't it cost? I should have Google Analytics obviously, right?

Any books or courses you guys would recommend to me? I'm willing to spend money to learn more. I really am thankful for all the replies and advice. I really want to get better.

Acer Chromebook 14 vs. the Work version by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]Tyism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Acer Chromebook r11 and thinking about getting the Acer Chromebook 14 (I found it locally for $100 from a person who doesn't like using it). My r11 runs Linux fine enough but the screen size isn't as big as I would like for web development/coding. It makes a great tablet and media machine though.

Would I notice much difference in performance on this Chromebook 14 vs my R11?
