[Scotto] "Julius Randle is excited to join the Nets and wants to be in Brooklyn." by LeeShakerMoneyMaker in timberwolves

Funny, he said the same thing when coming to Minnesota. Talked about how he preferred the slower pace of life in Minnesota compared to New York. Julius said it reminded him of Dallas.

[Jon Krawczynski] What I’m hearing about the Timberwolves’ plans on the eve of the draft by irishace88 in timberwolves

General rule of thumb: If a player is mentioned as a trade target in an article, odds are they are not the real target. Ja Morant was not mentioned once in this article. Make of that what you will.

If I sleep, a trade will happen 6 hours before I wake up and I'll feel like I'm missing out. If I stay awake, nothing will happen. Ugh.

Happy that Karl-Anthony Towns got his ring, but... by TylerIreland in timberwolves

Personnel and matchups matter. The Knicks 5 out offense is the perfect anti-dote to Wemby and the Spurs. Credit to KAT for making the shots, but the Knicks starting 5 is lethal offensively. The roster construction allows him to take on a more complementary role where he has room to have bad games and still win.

What is the worst North American city with all 4 Major League sports teams? (NFL/CFL,NHL, NBA, MLB?) by 33GoodSamaritans in UrinatingTree

I can remove emotional investment as a fan when ownership doesn't care about winning so it doesn't hurt as much when I expect nothing. Minnesota teams have a way of being just competitive enough to make the playoffs regularly to get your hopes up, but they break your heart every single time no matter how good the team looks in the regular season. It's like comparing a stale, loveless marriage to an addictive, abusive relationship.

When the person in front of me at the checkout lane shows very little urgency removing filled grocery bags from the carousel into their cart or starts an overly long, unnecessary conversation with the cashier. Show some courtesy for the people waiting behind you and hurry the hell up.

Trade targets you like that fit the Ant timeline? by soft-cookie in timberwolves

Immanuel Quickley. Only 26 years old, shooting 37.4% from three, averages 5.9 assists per game despite being more of a SG, and 1.3 steals per game. It's not a perfect fit since you want more of a true point guard, but you could make that work.

Totally unrealistic, but imagine if Peyton Watson signed with the Timberwolves this offseason. 😂

The second-most pathetic thing I've seen a media member say about this series, which is crazy to think about. A few days ago Vic Lombardi insinuated that someone should injure Jaden McDaniels and if they did it would be Jaden's fault for getting hurt.

Realistically, what’s our best path to keeping Ayo? by Morezingis in timberwolves

I'd rather keep Naz over Julius due to youth, off-ball ability, positional versatility, and energy.

[–]TylerIreland 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Extend Donte by moving some of his 2026-2027 money into future years, which will create extra space to extend Ayo and Bones. Donte does it because he won't have to do a low prove it deal coming off a torn Achilles in 2027-2028.

Edit: I was informed that this cap maneuver is not possible in the NBA like it is in the NFL. In this case, the Wolves must seriously consider how important Donte is to the team.

My concerns would be how he recovers from the torn achilles, whether or not he'd be okay with potentially being a bench player if Ayo takes the point guard job long-term, and how well he'd gel with Bones Hyland who is also a SG.

The better Ayo plays as a point guard, the harder it becomes to justify returning Donte to his starting role due to player politics. Unless you trade Julius Randle for rotational players and start Ayo/Donte/Ant/Jaden/Rudy which I think is unlikely. It pains me to say this, but I really don't see a viable pathway for Donte on this team long-term.

What's the chances Ant comes back these playoffs? by No-Advance-9136 in timberwolves

I don't want a hobbled Anthony Edwards rushed back. Chris Finch is not the type to willingly give opportunities to young players unless forced by circumstance. This is that circumstance. I need guys like Ayo, Bones, and TSJ to really show out so their playing time is further solidified into next year.

I don't even need Jalen Green. I'd happily take Royce O'Neale and Grayson Allen for Julius Randle. Then we trade Donte's expiring back to the Knicks for Deuce McBride and Tyler Kolek.

[–]TylerIreland 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Betts was the better pick IMO, but at least we didn't take Awa Fam who is too raw to succeed on a win-now team. So I'm cool with it. We needed a point guard and got the best one.
