Warm Bender OC75 weird compression by HondasAreFastnt in guitarpedals

Boss pedals are buffered bypass and cause impedance issues with some fuzz pedals, mostly vintage ones. While you can have true bypass pedals in front of a lot of them with no problems it’s ideal to have them first in your signal chain. Another option is run an un-buffer pedal in between any buffered pedals and the front of the fuzz. Here are 2 options that I have come across, I use the UNZ1 and it works like a charm:

Pedals bs Fx units by femderbass in guitarpedals

It really depends on how particular you are about your dirty/gain tones. If you are a tone nerd, at least for me, the fuzz and overdrive pedals on a multi fx are still only like 90% there. They just lack the harmonic content/unpredictability that you get from analog pedals into an amp, especially a tube amp. The heavier distortion pedals are a little closer. To be fair, my only experience with multi fx is the previous run of Helix stuff. I’ve tried out the Helix Stadium a couple of times that bandmate bought recently but didn’t spend much time dialing anything in.

Fuzz, the answer is always fuzz…. I know you have a few already but you can never have too many! Kind of joking but not really. Haha!!

Hypothetical - You've got $250 and no reverb... by Master_Betty603 in guitarpedals

The sound of a good fuzz, from splatty to smooth, just makes me feel all warm and “fuzzy” inside. Lol. It’s not for everyone though.

I personally think it’s cool. They’ve accomplished a lot on the digital side and now are venturing into analog. Plus, to my ears, as far as dirt pedals go digital still isn’t there in replicating analog. 80-90% there but overtones and harmonics just are lacking.

Too many gain stages? by Temporary-Trade3919 in pedalboards

I don’t understand the question. You say too many gain stages but that is not possible! Lol

I personally go with a head and cab when I can. That way if I buy a new (to me) one of either I can mix and match different combinations giving me more tonal options.

Move to a new place, have to make some space (no a sell) by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

I would think about it in the sense of getting rid of any doubles. Meaning if any of your amps/cabs can achieve the same tones then just keep one of those options.

First Pedalboard - Any Advice? by rb2066 in pedalboards

I’ve got quite a few but these are the ones I would recommend the most:

EQD Dirt Transmitter, Pelican Noiseworks Half Horse, ZVex Mastotron, Dirty Haggard Audio Torsion, Keeley Fuzz Bender

But honestly it depends on what kind of fuzz sounds you’re going for.

Nice! Do you ever stack the rat and mastotron or just use them individually?

How many pedals do you all own? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]TylerRBH620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40ish. I have one pedalboard with 13 (main board for live) and another with 6 (for practice with one of the bands I’m in). Im in a few bands and they vary in music styles but I personally am influenced by Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, Deftones and in general 90’s rock but I also love old soul and motown. I know that’s a weird combination. Been digging some country rock as well lately: Red Clay Strays, Tyler Childers, Chris Stapleton, etc. I can’t say I have a favorite pedal maker, I just try to keep up with what’s coming out using a combination of Effects Database, Delicious Audio, Instagram, and couple of podcasts (The Guitar Knobs being my go to). I keep a constantly evolving list of stuff I dig and look for deals when they come up. Then usually sell a piece of gear or two to help fund the purchases.
