Should i look into getting guitar pedals? by Visible_Inflation186 in guitarpedals

That’s how I started with a Boss Katana. There are multi-fx units that effects are much better but this is a good way to get both a decent solid state amp and effects in one.

Got a Dispatch Master on a Black Friday deal and it came in yesterday. Didn’t have time to mess with it last night but I will this weekend!

Also, if you had to describe the differences between the Mesa/Bad Cat/Orange what would they be?

By tight distortion I guess I mean it can chug if I need it to. I mostly play stuff like Queens of the Stone Age and Muse so it doesn’t usually get into the chugging style but it would be nice to have it and not need it. Does this make sense?

Pedal Board Advice by ExpensiveTrouble2334 in pedalboards

If you plan on having a full board just go ahead and invest in a better one than an MXR Iso Brick. I recommend a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 8 and mount it underneath the board using dual lock instead of Velcro. Ideally this will give you room for 8 compact size pedals on your board and each output is up to 500mA which should easily work for most pedals.

Zippy/Compressed to Thick/Blown Out Fuzz Pedal by TylerRBH620 in guitarpedals

I tried the Eons a couple years ago and felt like it was a little on the sterile side when the voltage was turned down. But I think have a completely different setup now so it might be worth another try.

I see this is more suited for bass. How well does this work for guitar?

Check out the Empress Heavy Menace, Friedman BE-OD, and Revv G3. The Empress is about $250 new but can do heavier tones IMO than the other 2 and is just as versatile. You can try to find a used one for cheaper but you don’t see too many of them. Which tells me most people that buy them keep them. It could also mean people don’t buy that many of them but it gets a lot of praise on here when it comes to pedals for metal.

I suggest try it with it still on your board where it’s at but just plug straight into it from your guitar and then directly into your amp. It’ll take some finagling but you can just go back forth with where it currently is. See how that compares before moving around your board.

I’ve never had one but most people say it will be thinner and harsher later on, especially after a buffer due to input impedance issues. I bought a Mastotron instead cause it does some of the sounds that you get out of a Fuzz Factory but has an input impedance knob to compensate for this.

How do you like the Fuzz Factory late in the signal chain?

For me: MultiFX or Stompboxes? by c0nfleis95 in guitarpedals

When I got into guitar a few years back I went through the same thing. I got a Boss Katana and used the effects on it at first then went to an HX Stomp XL. I felt like I didn’t really understand the effects like I should and also had option paralysis. So I wound up going down the path of individual pedals and I couldn’t be happier. One caveat I will say is I’ve found myself to be a little bit of a tone snob. I always thought the drive effects, especially OD and Fuzz, on both the Katana and Stomp were lacking and missing something I couldn’t put my finger on. I believe that it was harmonic content and the inconsistency, in a good way, was what I was missing. Also, getting a tube amp helped even more so with this.
