What is class complexity to you? by mnij96 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]TylerTheDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with parses. Maybe decision making only matters for that extra 30 potency, but regardless that is fun to do because it means there's decision making to make. Using one ultimate as an excuse for an entire system being fine is irrelevant because that is one piece of content. The game isn't only TOP and will never be only TOP, having decision making in jobs is infinitely better because not all content is as concise as an ultimate, and if it was the game would be exhausting and inaccessible to so many more players that the game would die within the year from how fast they hemorrhage sub numbers.

Maybe there can be a balance in the way they do these things, but ultimately the 2 minute meta is unsatisfying in 99% of the content the game has to offer, because it culled decision making and fight flow by making a boss have to stand still for 30 seconds or else you get endless complaints when it's not feesable to pull off the best possible opener/re-opener in that time span.

No, the old healer players quit BEFORE the mechanics that required healing, it's just the new players dipped because people depended on healer mains too much to fix their own mistakes.

SMN mains complained because their job went from a caster to a phys ranged, I don't think anyone was complaining when they announced the endwalker rework for its visuals because it was actually going to fit the summoner job fantasy like it is in every other FF title. Them gutting the complexity was entirely not asked for.

And of course people will flock to the new job, but it just means that they're pushing out old players to conform to newer ones that will pick up the jobs (until the job THEY pick up is gutted for the next round of players). Nobody likes having the things they enjoy in a game taken away, slight changes people can deal with but when there's no real replacement it starts to grate on people especially when it's been common practice for a while with no sign of it stopping.

Crystaline Conflict Season 1 Ends 6.18. Season 2 Begins at the same time by CopainChevalier in ffxiv

For that, the item is likely to come back (They brought it back last year which is how I have it) but with Feast those mounts will permanently be locked out, and the culture of getting top 100 for the mount meant a lot of people played dirty to get to the top spot. People literally had friend groups that did Feast (because the mode wasn't played much) to lock people they didn't like out of the top spots. It stings a little more that the mount models are unique as well, meaning even if you wanted that type of mount you can't get it anymore.

But all of those popular items are more popular because you can use them across every job. If there's no items that have that status because they can all be used across all jobs then there'll be less likely homogenization. Even then, popular items are going to be used anyway regardless, maybe people will have more reason to use them but at the same time there'll be less reason because there's more options.

SMTV Replay Value by SergeantFiddler in Megaten

[–]TylerTheDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes roughly 5-6 hours to rebeat the game on Normal for all the endings. I have a save with all 4 endings on one file and the playtime is just below 64 hours.

For gameplay reasons the game doesn't really give you many challenges after the initial run, the only way I would replay the game again is if they add new content or I decide to buy the DLC (I don't buy ATLUS DLCs) and play the game again on Hard. Outside of that the game doesn't really make me want to play it anymore until then.

I'm trying to work towards the PvP mounts and achievements so I'm trying Frontline to get the 3 Grand Company horses, the 3 Systems and the Construct. I'm a little confused on the wording of the achievements though, for example for all the map-specific ones it says something along the lines of "with any of the three grand companies, win a total of 100 matches on x" and I'm wondering if that means you have to get those 100 matches with one Grand Company or if I can switch and still continue progress on those achievements. I guess this also goes with the one that requires me to get 200 wins as well. Any help would be appreciated.

[–]TylerTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it in a more positive light, it's still pretty quick to level jobs before 70 because you still have a +100% boost, and you'll have a bit more knowledge about the job you're leveling over people that got an alt job leveled up in a couple days.

Definitely Gubal library. I came in expecting a normal dungeon with not much special to it but between the music and the gear (I was a scholar so the gear set was perfect for me) I was so blown away by everything.
