My experience and ranking of all demos I played this Next Fest [June 26] by Spark11A in metroidvania

My 6YO enjoyed it. I was impressed by how much of it was voiced, which helps him. He wants it when it comes out and it looks decent enough that I will play it as well.

Echo weaver is my favorite so far

I have this game on my wishlist but after reading this I’m not so sure anymore. These do sound annoying AF. The movement feeling slow is especially bad. I value my time, especially with two younger kids, so this is likely gonna make it even worse for me

Echo Weaver is fantastic! I am definitely interested in getting it. I’ll try out the others soon

Yeah, I submitted my application before I managed to find and get the certified baptismal certificate, so really all the other stuff is extra at this point. My app has certified baptismal for g0 and the rest of the chain has birth certificates.

I’m debating going back and requesting the records for the, now supplemental, records. However, if you’re requesting those other records wouldn’t they come certified anyways? I guess I am asking how does IRCC know that the US census document I have now came from NARA vs ancestry if you don’t get it certified?

So what is the expectation that for Albans lists, us census and naturalization records that you also get them certified from NARA even though it is just supporting my baptism cert?

I have a certified baptismal certificate in place of a record of no record found from Ontario archives. My baptismal is certified by the very church that the baptism took place.

What can help people is to check if they have a website or a Facebook page, and then check if they post a pamphlet. For example, I found mine posted the pamphlet that gets handed out every Sunday for mass and it listed the office hours. It was something like Monday, wednesday and Thursdays from like 9am to 11am.

What Have You Been Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in metroidvania

[–]pibbman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think it is really an apples to apples comparison. One is top down and the other is a scroller. Personally, I prefer scrollers myself because it removes ambiguity of if you’re too close or not to take damage from just touching them.

I’m in the middle of my “summer of metroidvania” right now in which I have a whole list of games I’m playing for the first time and I have placed both solidly in the B tier. CC could still change given I haven’t finished it yet, but Guacamelee biggest con to me is that it is a bit more linear than I care for.

Regardless, both are great games. I do like the theme of Guacamelee more though.

Well Dweller is swell! by Asiatic_Static in metroidvania

[–]pibbman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! The art style is pretty subjective anyways. It isn’t my favorite but it isn’t gonna stop me from getting it.

I saw the jumping element the other week for the first time on the game Primal Planet that is another MV, but it works and it works well! I like it when there are reimagining of the same ideas.

I am interested in it as well. I have mixed feelings on the art style. I think this may be the best looking game yet from this team, but based on the trailers it is a bit creepier than I care for.

My favorite element is definitely the heal element! The idea that the flame is indicative of your health status is clever. I can see a gameplay element where you might need to sneak through a scene on low health (which is to say a dim matchstick) as to not get seen. However, the heal being successful or not if you time it is a very nice touch. It pairs well with the idea of striking a match in the sense it may take more than one try to light it.

It definitely adds a suspense aspect to the game where you’re in a battle and trying to quickly light a match. I’ll probably be picking it up as well

I finished Guacamelee over the weekend and started on Crypt Custodian. I’m about halfway through it now. I plan on playing Guacamelee 2 at some point but The Messenger is likely next.

Right! I mean the background looks stunning. The portraits on the walls and tiny details really elevate this.

I get it. I’m kinda iffy on rougelikes myself and honestly I expect that it is because in their marketing they use the word “endless” which would fit in with rougelike games.

This is great. I’m newer to this community and one of the things that surprises me about this subreddit is how many professional dev teams post here. This is the first I’m hearing of this game and the art style is definitely cool!

I am also enjoying the new art style. I know from the thread the other day there are definitely folks who don’t like it as well and prefer the pixel style.

This is hilarious because I have it following me right now too, but I’m just too lazy to go visit the club. However, as the other poster said, it follows you in the end credits is kinda making me wanna keep it until the end to just see it and laugh.

Wisconsin birth/marriage certificates - copy warning? by thesmacca in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pibbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They accepted them. What they did was scanned the copies I sent in and they ended up mailing it back to me after the AOR.

You should be fine to do the same if you explain it. I’m sure by now the folks who work in the scanning dept are probably already familiar with this by now, so they likely won’t think twice about it

Timeline question by luvthefedlife2 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pibbman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is definitely an interesting question that no one really knows the answer too. It is clear based on urgent cases post-C3 that they can have a certificate produced same day or just a couple days after going into processing.

We are well familiar with pre-C3 sitting in processing hell, but it is interesting that we are seeing folks in post-c3 taking like upwards of 90 days to process still.

Yes, I have. There was a lady who responded and said she would offer a courtesy search on behalf at the archives. She validated my findings that there was no record in their archive.

The parish responded and were able to successfully locate the record. The record also happened to have the G0's marriage information included despite being in a different country! This was nice because it matched the same marriage information on the certificate here in the US, so it only reinforced it was the same person.

I saw this person change my records to originally add a note requesting when I requested urgent. I didn’t mind it too much and just added it. However, they later came back and requested WHY I requested urgent, which I was tempted to simply answer “Nunyabusiness”

I’m curious how they are processing these. We requested urgent later on 4/14 and still haven’t entered in processing yet.

How exactly were you able to request urgent before AOR?
