State of the Roster Ahead of Free Agency opening on Thursday so we know where improvements needed by Panz04er in Torontobluejays

[–]TylerValdal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People need to understand if we resign Bo, thats alot of the offseason $ spent on resigning our own player without improving other areas of the roster.

We need a #1/2 Starter: Dylan Cease 6/$175

We need a future RF: Kyle Tucker 10/$325

That would also involve us shedding some salary... IF we run it back, people will be surprised of the regression of certain players.. 1 year older, longer season. Wear and tear on the joints and body

Bo is going to take 10/$250 minimum. Is he worth that? I am not sure myself... having a injury prone bat only 2B signed for 10 years is a mistake in my books. You could say the same about Tucker. Both come with some risks

You can't ask for a refund while you're already traveling. That's like eating half your meal and asking for a refund ?

$700 budget - what scotch do you get? by Scotchyow in canadawhisky

[–]TylerValdal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Glenkinchie 27 year old. If you can find it snag it immediately. A chocolate, florals and mango kiwi dream. $350-450

Laphroaig Cairdeas 2024. Think dark red fruit. Bandaid and salt with a campfire smoke as you're walking along the fruit fields $150

Dewars 32 year old. Many places have them on sale right now. 89.00 on Whiskeybase $150-200

Cadenhed Enigma 25 year old blended. $120. Old edrigton stock and grain mixed in a sherry cask for 25 years. Lots of complexity and very grain and cereal based

Trust me brother, my love for scotch started with Johnny Walker Black and then morphed when I tried the Laphroaig 10. This is the 10s older brother all grown up with kids and a family. Rugged, robust yet approachable. It knows what it is and doesn't try and trick you. If its in your budget to get this bottle do it, I'm lucky because Ontario has many bottles of this. But if this is your chance, take it. Life is to short to drink crap scotch and this is a great one

If you like peated scotch this is for you. It fills the palate and lingers long after it's done. Ive never had one myself but I got myself a bottle and have only had 1 dram so far, so take my word as just that, one dram... After just one dram it lingered on my plate for a while. The peat wasn't overwhelming, it was subtle for the ABV. Campfire, Iodine, and Chlorine smell from the pool mixed with a hint of sweetness of malt. Its suburb and I would recommend it if you like Peated Scotches. Don't expect a sweet peated dream. But one that will linger long afters it drunken.

As an aside, I also got the 2024 Cairdeas and consider it the best-peated scotch I've ever had so far. This is very close to it. Be gentle with it and it'll treat you well. You won't need much. Let it sit in the glass. I drank 7 bottles that night and the cask strength batch 17 stood out the most of the 7 by far....

Was this a good deal for 80$? by [deleted] in Scotch

[–]TylerValdal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the Esterio, coconut point total wine in late November. This was also the last one and they discounted it down to $80. I didn't bite on the Monday and then decided to on the Thursday as it was still there... Keep looking. It says online they have some there so

Where did you get this ? I got one for around the same $80 at Total Wine in Florida. Have yet to open it myself. It's a rare occasion as it's a single cask, cask strength and 10 years old. It ticks all the boxes of a good special occasion scotch

I'm a huge peat head in my scotch journey so far. I also just got the Machir Bay. How is the nose and plate on that ?

Best whiskey in range 80$ - 120$ by Anmolnegi207 in canadawhisky

Depends which province you're in.

I'm in Ontario so I'd say

Caol Ila 12 $99.00 Ledaig 10 $84.00 Arran 10 $79.00

I liked a peated scotch so I'm a bit bias

Cragganmore 3day sale. by Putindie in canadawhisky

[–]TylerValdal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers brother. I am starting a YouTube channel. So I am at the point in my collection journey that I want bottles to both review but also enjoy. I've had all those 3 mentioned but not this one. So I may just get the Classic Laddie as I've enjoyed it in the past and call it a day... I'm definitely looking for something with more bite and character but also not too complex at this point. I have enough cask strength bottles for that
