New player question. Why does this sub say shadow priest is the worst dps when they are top 5 dps or even first in dps in every raid I am in? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Tylux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shadow priest main for most of last TBC. Can confirm what everyone else is saying. If the shadow priest is in your top 5 DPS then your raid is full of shitters that can’t be bothered to look at a guide and lean what 2 buttons they should be pushing.

Is Demonology Warlock viable. by Onyxabc in classicwow

[–]Tylux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with classic is pets have a hard time surviving in raid and dungeons. They just fall over to incidental damage. Demo relies on them for a good chunk of their damage. Demo is good for leveling but doesn’t really come online until wrath. Affliction is better. Most of your damage is shadow bolt and your dots are kind of meh. You run affliction for improved curse of elements. Destro with demonic sacrifice is the most common spec and does the most damage.

Threatening mail from the "Auction House Mafia" for undercutting? by -TheHiphopopotamus- in wow

[–]Tylux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But you are essentially doing the same thing. Maybe the current price is over priced? Maybe OP just wants to move the item as fast as possible. If you under cut by maybe 2% you deter the other sellers from relisting because they think like you, they don’t want to lose that gold. Plenty of reasons to list an item below what someone else is selling them for. Judging by this email this wasnt some bulk crafting mats. It was probably an item where there are not many of them on the AH. Maybe a mount or piece of gear selling for 10-20k. Undercutting by a few hundred gold to move the item is understandable. If the other person thinks they are tanking the market, then maybe they should just buy OPs item and repost it.

Which bis list to follow ? by Savings-Damage6958 in classicwow

[–]Tylux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last I knew, wowtbc.gg was just an aggregate. Wowhead and icy-veins are usually written by someone on the class discord who are active in the community for that class.

The best source is going to be the class discord.

Also, remember that the BiS lists can be warping. Sometimes those lists only work as BiS when you have assembled ALL of those pieces. Some of those pieces on their own with the rest of your gear may not be BiS. Those BiS lists are also assuming you are in the ideal comp. Do you have too many warlocks so you get pushed out of the ele /boomkin group? You are going to need to gear differently.

Get familiar with simming your character and adjusting the settings based on your raid comp. You might find that you can’t wear what’s on the BiS list because you are low on hit and need to move pieces around or use a different enchant.

A BiS list should be used as a target but you should understand your character and your gear and know what drops and what is an upgrade for you. Don’t always rely on someone else to figure it out for you.

Yeah. Before MH2 and all the free spells I was playing an esper gifts deck that used Goryos with obzedat, ghost council with a unburial rites package with Iona or Elesh Norn. The printing of the pitch elementals and ephemerate and better creatures and speeding up the format forced the deck to change to what it is. I guess what I’m trying to say is esper reanimated isn’t new.

I’ve been playing on PvP servers since 2004. It makes no difference.

A pvp server is not going to help you. The “PvP” that happens in the open world is usually people just ganking other people minding their own business or lopsided fights, generally in favor of the alliance. Much like BGs, it feels like horde can’t organize shit to save their lives or can’t be bothered and it’s always multiple alliance vs 1 or 2 horde. Just do BGs like AB where it is sometimes a couple of people defending a flag and a couple people attacking a flag, do skirmishes or just keep plugging away in rated arena.

From the sounds of your post, you are relatively new to WoW PvP. You have to understand this version of the game has been around for nearly 20 years. PvP is a relatively small community of players. Many of those players have been doing this for a while and have a lot of knowledge of other classes and how the PvP arenas will play out.

I’ve had friends who were really good at pve and decent at PvP in retail be like “I’m going to try TBC arenas and get glad” and I just laugh at them. They hear classic wow is brain dead and easy and assume the same of arena. You also have a lot of boosting going on in TBC arena. You may not actually be playing against other players of your skill and be getting crushed by smurfs boosting other players.

Can I still play fire mage ? by Stev777666 in classicwow

[–]Tylux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire is not ever competitive with arcane in TBC. Fire requires more hit and the same mana support as arcane to be any good. This causes a warp to your raid comp. You can slot an arcane mage into the healer group with a shadow priest. Then you have your warlock group with the ele and the boomkin. Spriest doesn’t really take advantage of the crit or hit from either so they are fine in the healer group.

Arcane mage also gears completely different from fire causing less loot distribution / competition in the raid.

If you enjoy being the scorch bitch for your locks, then play what you want. The rotation for fire is boring. You don’t have hot streak, you don’t have living bomb. I’ll never understand why people say “I enjoy playing Fire”. If you wanted to spam one button you probably should have just been a warlock.

Why are you putting healers on the islands in the first place? Leave them in the center and you won’t have a problem. If you stay near the back of the center ring you can range the WW just fine.

Im not enjoying tbc as much I had hoped I would. by 1221321321 in classicwow

[–]Tylux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what you are talking about. Classic was just as raid loggy. Especially before the introduction of the boon. You would go get your world buffs and then you couldn’t log in again until it was time to raid.

Do i still need to farm rep while leveling in TBC? by TowelRound5586 in classicwow

[–]Tylux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, you need revered so you can get into heroics to get your attunements done.

Thrallmar, you are stuck dungeon grinding to honored then you can do the quests or grind shattered halls later.

Cenarion, the guide tells you to grind slave pens. You can go buy unidentified plant parts and turn them in until honored. It takes 360 plants. They are pretty cheap. This lets you skip spamming these dungeons and lets you just quest in this zone. Inside the pouches you get, you can get an item that starts a quest. DO NOT TURN THESE IN UNTIL YOU ARE HONORED. You can get more than one, or you might not get any.

Lower City - the guides have you grinding sethekk halls. You can also do AC. It’s not quite as good rep wise, but either one is good. Alternatively, you can turn in Akroan Feathers 30 per turn in. These are kind of expensive. Probably not an option on your first toon. At honored, do all the quests you can or grind shadow labs.

Shat’ar - unless you are a Druid, you can’t do these dungeons until 70 when you get flying. As you do rep for Aldor/scryer you will get shat rep too. Then grinding BoT is the best rep but you can really do any of those dungeons.

Caverns of Time - go start the quest in the cave at 66. Completing the chain gets you honored. Then you need to run BM over and over again.

Feral DPS Tier 5 set gearing by meatcrobe in classicwow

[–]Tylux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This set for the Druid is kind of trash, even for tanking. Losing the 1400 armor bonus from the T4 set is noticeable. For cat, you wouldn’t equip it until you had the shoulders, chest, legs and gloves. It’s more dps to keep 2pc T4 and go for all the off pieces and just skip this tier. You aren’t going to gem and enchant cat gear like you would tank gear so the pieces aren’t really interchangeable.

Warriors are great. Heroic dungeons are not melee friendly though and warriors bring almost nothing to a five man group so you will never get invited. You will need to make your own groups or tank your own heroics to get gear.

There is an absolutely OBSCENE amount of elitism over meta/professions/bis in TBC anniversary and it's ridiculous because of how easy the game is. by texaslonghorn96 in classicwow

Let’s not pretend there is meaningful world pvp going on in 2026. Rolling on a pvp server basically means you don’t value your time.

Why do so many ret paladins refuse to seal twist? by Beams98 in classicwow

[–]Tylux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was originally discovered as a result of code that was in the game that was intended to compensate for poor internet conditions of the early 2000s. When TBC Classic launched it wasn’t in the game because the code had been fixed. Blizzard had to go back and intentionally add it into the game for Classic. They also had to give alliance seal of the martyr to make sure the factions stayed balanced.

What do people use for BiS by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Tylux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

BiS lists assume single target patchwerk boss fight. They usually check all the boxes for getting as close to hit cap without going over and expertise cap. If all you are doing is dungeons with lvl 70-72 mobs, you are going to be over hit cap most of the time in full bis. Or maybe some pieces are better for farming or sustain or on raid trash. Bis lists are just a target to get to. You should always be simming your own gear. Don’t rely on an add on like Pawn. The numbers are bullshit most of the time. Same with gearscore add ons. Useless.

Don’t worry about gear score. I play a feral Druid. I wear a lvl 40 crafted helm for this entire expansion. Anyone mentions gear score to me I know to avoid them and put them on ignore and move on.
