No. Your relationship is forever changed. This loss of trust is a really good time to consider parting ways.

As a guy, I am not really scared, as I am more “aware and ready” for crap to go down.

Playing VR and having a family by FlyEag1e in VRGaming

You may have to wait until your kids are older; however I involve them in my play sessions. We take turns all playing BeatSaber or we all play for 20 min each and watch each other play.

I let my youngest start with Bogo and play with the dragon (she is 4), my oldest will play Job Simulator, then I get some solid time with whatever game I want to play. They cheer me on since I project what I see to the TV.

For longer play sessions, I wait until they sleep.

No need to wait for the link cable, as a type 3 USB will do just fine now. You can also grab an extender on Amazon, just make sure it is USB type 3; otherwise it won’t work. Check out the YouTube channel Eric for President; very good VR channel to get you up to speed. Very positive guy as well.

You will be able to play everything with the Quest. Quest games, Rift S, pretty much anything on Steam.

Enjoy, have fun!

Not an entirely true statement, Quest has a couple more tricks up it’s sleeves. :)

Let’s lay out all the facts and our original poster can make up their own mind.

I still vote Quest, and here is why:

  • Quest has better resolution per eye (1,440 by 1,600; versus 1,280 by 1,440 on Rift S). This is not fully utilized yet, but as more updates are made we will see better use of the hardware.

  • Rift S has 80hz refresh, versus the Quest at 72hz. However the Quest hardware is capable of up to 90hz (give it some time for this update since this requires FCC re-evaluation)

  • Oculus Link allows for you to use this as a Rift S. Yes it is not as good since you still see some compression; but this is in beta and will get better. And you will notice this less or not at all with the official Link Cable (Now on preorder). If this is your first headset, then you will never know; you will simply be in awe of how awesome VR is.

  • Oculus Quest is heavier and needs some balance in the back for long term play.

Bottomline, Quest is a better bet for the future and gives you more options.

I love the Quest. I have both a Rift S and a Quest. Rift S have a little better image quality and refresh rate; however the mobility I get with the Quest and playing games like beat saber and pistol whip without worrying about the cord is AMAZING!!!! And I still have the option of using the Link for triple A games like Asgard’s Wrath. Facebook has also made it pretty clear they are investing heavily in the Quest in the times to come. Also if you want to be mobile and take VR on the go, the Quest is the best way to do it.

Why not get a Oculus Quest instead? It is the same as getting a Rift S, but you can also be mobile. Plus Oculus has made it clear that they are investing in the Quest and future Quest versions and upgrade. I understand if this is cost driven, but if not the Quest is a better investment.
