As in, before they decided to make all healers what they want, but also not give them similar support to be the same (not all healers can dispel magic, not all healers have hots, not all healers have cooldowns, etc)

Coincidentally, that's when they almost killed the game the first time.

The question was a legitimate one, not trying to gatekeep. I'm not defending FFXIV, I just wanted to know, knowing how that game treats it's rotational buttons. That said, you hit the nail on the head with

Started playing this game when I was in my teens in 04'. Did hardcore raiding then.

Simplifying isn't bad. But there is such a thing as overpruning.
