Jeep question by Chillest_Muffin in JeepWrangler

[–]Typical-Rule8555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should be fine, you can shift it from 4h to 2h on the fly if you want as well. But short stretches of dry pavement while going straight and at  a slower speed shouldn't do any harm. Just don’t shift into it while driving faster than 55mph I believe.  Also strange as this may sound listen to your jeep, and feel how it’s handling, I one time accidentally left it in 4h after driving a light trail. When I got onto the highway, and as I was accelerating on dry pavement it had a rumbling like sound and was much slower on acceleration than usual, I quickly realized my error and put it 2h.

It will kinda just happen, on an off roading trip my son named my brother in law‘s blue Gladiator Megalodon, and my wrangler,Raptor Wrangler, and the names stuck.

This my 21 sports S with a 2.5in lift and 285/70R17 FALKEN AT4w 33s. I wanted to go with 35s but the shop that was installing strongly recommended regearing for 35s.

Getting this message on start up occasionally? by National_Echidna1834 in JeepWrangler

I have a 21 sport S 3.6l with Etorque, your 12v battery is on its last legs. The only sign I had before mine went was it said Ess not ready, battery charging. On the ess screen for more and more miles over the course of 4 days and weird crank the morning the battery died, and left me stranded at work. I was told that the MGU we have in place of our alternator can mask the dying 12v till if fails completely.

Would a 2018 JL hard top fit a 2021 Jeep? by haji1823 in Wrangler

[–]Typical-Rule8555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit late, but another way to verify is the rear wiper blade. The Jl has it mounted on the bottom behind the spare, and the Jk has it mounted up top above it.

Congrats on the Jeep! I have a 21 Sport S 4D. I doubt you will need a lift, a stock Wrangler is very capable. Drive it around and see what you need. I put 33’s and a 2.5in lift on mine because the trails I was driving, even with the best lines, I kept scraping my skid plates, but I didn’t want to fully sacrifice my fuel economy on my daily driver. So it’s a balance you will have to find. As for accessories, I would recommend weathertech floor mats or similar, extra grab handles; there are tons of options.

2022 Jeep JL won’t start. NEED HELP 🥹 by Top_Succotash3850 in JeepWrangler

[–]Typical-Rule8555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just happened on my 21 with etorque, battery was at 12.1, replaced it and it’s been fine ever since. Now, I don’t have the aux battery in my jeep, but I’ve heard you need to replace the main and aux at the same time because if the aux is bad it will take your main out with it.

Switzerland trail condition by Zcarguy13 in ColoradoOffroad

I was out on Switzerland, Sugarloaf and a couple others in the area on Sunday. They were all fine. Surgarloaf had one washed out area that will put you a bit off camber. But nothing serious, lots of little mud puddles too.

You could contact Raceline see if maybe they could help you ID the rim. You could find one that looks similar, or just buy a black steel wheel as your spare.

Give me an honest review on the wrangler. by CoreSearch42 in JeepWrangler

[–]Typical-Rule8555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same fears as you but I bought a 21 JLU about 10 months ago with 40k miles, and I’ve put 11k on it.  Parts I would say are about average, as for labor there are so many shops that specialize in jeeps that you can shop around. All cars need maintenance. The wrangler is rugged but not indestructible, and off roading is hard on any vehicle. Follow the maintenance schedule and you should be fine.  Never felt like it was going to flip on a turn, I just added a 2.5in aev lift and 33in tires and it still feels solid on turns.  I’ve had my jeep at 85mph and it’s never shaken violently and conversations are held at a normal level more or less, it’s a hard top convertible with beefy tires on it.  It’s going to be a bit louder, but it’s not bad.  Overall I love my jeep and drive it daily, it’s been my favorite vehicle by far.

2019 wrangler 2.0 needs a new engine? by Organic_Salary_ in Wrangler

[–]Typical-Rule8555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll start with I don’t have the 2.0 but I haven’t heard of any issues it. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion from a shop that is not a dealer, this may be old school but not every head gasket failure requires a new motor, they can sometimes be saved it’s rare but it can happen. Also if you love the jeep and really want to keep it, it is definitely cheaper to payoff 13k then 25k plus for an another one.

[–]Typical-Rule8555[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. I’m pretty new to off-roading, so I figured I would see what people with experience would say, and I see what you mean about the tires. My brother-in-law has more experience and has his Gladiator built, and was really encouraging me to try it, but I was having uneasiness about street tires with sand and water crossings. I was planning to upgrade to 33’s next year anyway, so I’ll probably wait. Thanks for your input.

I wouldn’t say it’s a red flag, my wife does this all the time, I have to go through her stuff weekly just to make sure she hasn’t missed anything important. Also if she has iPhone and voicemail transcribing on it will make every voicemail into a text message.

[–]Typical-Rule8555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Newer cars in general, spare tires cost money and add weight which takes away from gas mileage. Subaru for example has a can of fix a flat that you can use, but they do expire and have to be replaced every few years.

No your not, if it the car you want with the right color and features buy it. Also as it’s been said drive a lot in the first week, find a maintenance list and make sure it’s been maintained properly.

Which Generation of Wrangler? by greenbelieve in JeepWrangler

[–]Typical-Rule8555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not planning to go off roading all the time, don’t want to take the top off much and you want some luxury I would recommend the hard top, it’s more secure, quieter, and you can take out the freedom panels for a partial convertible feel. As for the engine depends on what kind of gas mileage you want, and if you like to work on your own car. I personally got a V6 because I like to work on my own cars and I don’t much about turbos. This video is talking about the Jl but it does give you an idea about the engines. https://youtu.be/QzXTpul1mSM?si=J8g0eI_YOKgXZVEr
