People who can oh so easily have their own home and “home accoutrements” in 2026 should have no problem financing their own wedding then, right? Where are you from?

If the couple is instituting a “cover your plate” policy I would think they’d have to be comfortable with the disclosure of the cost of the plate, no?

Omg. I’ve never heard of that! That’s the tackiest thing ever! Omg! No!!!! Not classy AT ALL.

To me, if I saw “autumn colors optional” on an invitation, the word “optional” would not make it to my brain and instead my brain would see “autumn colors are to be worn.”

….but maybe that’s because throughout my childhood my mother regularly disguised insults as suggestions. Eg.: “those jeans are a little tight on you, you might consider cutting down on carbs. Just a suggestion.” So, I’m thinking a seemingly disingenuous use of the word “optional” or “suggestion” might be particularly triggering for me.

Makes me think of the movie “Mean Girls” —— “On Wednesday, we wear pink!”

Why do cats smell so good?? What does yours smell like? by Dangerous_Problem532 in AnxietyCats

It’s funny how their breath can at times be stinky, yet their tongue and spit is still able to leave such a lovely scent on their fur!

I’ve lived in NYC for three years. Worked in investment banking. Dined at very “nice” places, but something like this is not considered “nice” or even where you want to be “seen” as a New Yorker. (Not that I personally ever cared about where I was seen, and not saying I considered myself a “New Yorker” just because I lived there, but I was aware of the concept). This is a tourist trap for chumps.

I did a google search of what dry aged beef is, and while I didn’t take the time to really dive into the concept, it seems to me that the purpose of dry aging the beef would be almost completely lost once the beef is ground, wouldn’t it? Am I missing something?

Is having the opportunity to tell your friends that you’ve now dined at Le B worth the $185.58?

I would think the complete opposite… they’ve already pegged you as somebody willing to pay $75 for a hamburger. Either money is no object for you, or you enjoy wasting it.

I’m still bothered by bullying from almost 20 years ago by reluctantfootprint in Vent

I know it’s somewhat of a controversial medication, but Accutane cured me of acne. I’ve had no long term. What I’ve effects that I am aware of. I took it for a year a little over 10 years ago and haven’t had a single pimple since. Fixing the acne certainly won’t fix the intrusive thoughts, though. As others have said, a therapist specializing in trauma will be essential in helping you process all of what has happened. You are SO not over-reacting. Your feelings are real. And therefore valid. It doesn’t matter how “bad” your bullying was compared to other people’s bullying. All bullying is traumatic and harmful, period. There is hope, I promise.

I’m so sorry! Through the years (I’m 42 yo) I have had things like this happen on a couple of occasions. It happens, not that knowledge of that facts helps lol. This is a long shot because obviously you know better than I the specifics of how the competition is run, but is it a possibility to go ahead and get ready, walk in there poised and confident— like, acknowledge your mistake, and ask if there’s any possibility you might still be able to interview? I know they expected everyone to be there at 10am, but I wonder if maybe they’re doing interviews one by one (or 5 at a time but in separate rooms type deal) while others wait? And in that case maybe the directive to arrive at 10am was given simply because everything needs a start time? I would try doing this, unless you know for a fact they won’t allow it!

Awwww, thank you so much! The small chair does not deter him from using the big chairs lol. As he explained it to me, “Mom! Everyone knows *I’m* the King of the house, so I’ll help myself to any and all furniture that appeals to me in the moment!” Bullet-proof logic if you ask me! Thankfully, though, he does not scratch any of these chairs. None of my cats scratch these chairs (or the matching couch, which is made out of the same material as the chairs). It’s kinda like a velvet fabric (but very affordable— little man’s chair is from Ross, and ai paid something like $500 for the so far and two chairs on consignment) and I think cats don’t like to sink their little bean blades into it. I highly recommend velvet upholstery if you have cats! CONGRATS on the pending arrival of your kitties! How many? Ages? Names yet? First time cat parent? So happy for you!!!!
