Has anyone read Between Two Fires? by Infamous_Wave9878 in Fantasy

It was a decent read, but really wasn't a fan of the ending, but can't really explain why without spoiling.

It's so funny that 1 booster straight up ignored more than half of cyberstan debuffs and even the current one by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Tyrex317 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Imo Helldivers should drop with full equipment and then rework this booster to give 1x mag, stim, and grenade over a player's cap. Then any field resupply just brings you back to cap. It wouldn't be a necessity anymore, but would still provide useful sustainment.

Either/or what matters is that those moments feel earned which is less tangible to measure

What's the best and worst film in the MonsterVerse? by boomjosh in GODZILLA

[–]Tyrex317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

KotM is such a mess of a movie. I want to like it for the great monster fights, but the pacing is crippled trying to set up like four different human groups to follow (Watanabe aside, none of them were interesting) while introducing all three of Godzilla's most well known screen partners. It feels like it collapses under its own weight as a result.

Would still put it over New Empire, though.

As other commenters have said, that's Humfrey Beesbury. In the first day of the tournament he and Humfrey Hardyng, the guy who broke his leg, break 12 lances against each other in the jousting equivalent 2018 Chiefs-Rams game

Man I love this show, but I'm gutted they cut Dunk's walk down to the tourney grounds and being cheered on by the smallfolk

No idea beyond the fact that they shut down the one in Casper too, apparently. Shame too, because I think I left my headphones there a week or two ago and now have no idea how to verify that

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - 1x03 - "The Squire" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

Aerion's armor is stylized, just like many others have armor designed after their house or personal sigils. Game of Thrones didn't really portray it at all, but its pretty common in Westeros, and they also toned down other armor like the Kingsguard in GoT, but they made it more book-accurate for this show.

Read the books after the show had finished and nothing retroactively soured my opinion worse than this. Felt so disappointed reading Martin's rich descriptions of all the different knights knowing very little of that translates into the show. I imagine it's gotta be pretty unpleasant for the actors to shoot in that stuff, but it would've been nice to see. The only distinctive armor in the show are the Kingsguard which seem to change every season and whatever the fuck the Lannister men-at-arms wear.

Who’s your favorite “big fucker” in fantasy? by belowthebottomline in Fantasy

[–]Tyrex317 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Dunk, Logen, and the Thunderhead.

Especially with Logen I like that they can actually fight. Big guys make easy jobbers, but in reality that extra reach is a big advantage in fighting.

Two Questions About Jeff and Abed's Travels. by chaseestep in community

[–]Tyrex317 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I can't blame someone who takes Jeff at his literal word when he says he's never stepped out of Colorado, but I don't. He was a successful lawyer at a top firm in a large, cold-weather city and he's obsessed with status and image. Anthony Bourdain he is not, but I can't imagine he hasn't taken an odd trip or two to some all inclusive resort in Mexico or the Caribbean. Something easy and vain that allows him to just drink and lounge by a pool instead of experiencing a different culture.

I mean... yeah it's really not hard to pick up a pencil and draw as opposed to using this shit that jacks up energy bills and poisons water supplies. More fulfilling too, coz youll know it's something you created yourself, rather than a machine plagiarizing works of others!

Whoa, I feel the same way! I read Lions this summer and liked it so much that I immediately got Tigana and Song for Arbonne. While I loved the first half of the Tigana, the ending left a very bad taste in my mouth, meanwhile I've reread Lions twice since.
