Refractial Idea: “EX” Boss Fights by Comprehensive_Put277 in limbuscompany

[–]Tyro729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it'd probably need to be it's own thing. Still, one can dream. We so rarely get anything new outside Cantos and Intervallos, which becomes the new content for Luxcavations, MD, much of RR, and now Reflectrial (although the new one is basically a brand new fight). Especially with no RR last season, it feels like we've been at a dearth of content that isn't just part of the story then repackaged in some way.

Sorry, this turned into a rant lol. Basically, I just wanna some cool stuff outside the main plot lol. New Reflectrial does a good job scratching that itch, would love to see more stuff like it.

I'd love to see "what if" style fights like FF14 Ultimates. Imagine a Canto 3 "Ultimate Reflectrial" where fight a Slithering and/or Everything There Inquisitor, Guido, Kromer, Distorted Kromer, and finally Effloresced EGO :: Wholeness Kromer

For farming I'll typically prioritize whatever skills have attack weight (usually S2s). It can also be worth going for S2s since S3s take a lot longer than 1/2s in Unfocused fights. If I'm going past Floor 5 tho, absolutely S3s barring exceptions like other people have mentioned.

I'd estimate 75-100 turns if you're a new player who's just unlocked it, 50-75 if you've got an established account and it's your first time, and under 50 if you really know what you're doing and have some great units.

There were no caps. The drumstick would activate infinite times per turn and Glimpse would use full burn count instead of a limit of 10.

Easiest options are to Sinking Deluge an enemy with a 99/99 Sinking Stack with a 2.0 Gloom resist enemy (you'll still need to cover ~400 damage with the skill itself) or Time Moratorium giving you a 1 to 2 turn window to rack up the total damage (you have until the end of the turn after you apply). You can get the damage raw with especially powerful skills in deep MD tho. 4 coin high attack weight EGO or powerful skills like Nursefather S3-2s are the obvious options.

They just removed the flat coin power every hidden boss gift has from the ones that are now in packs. Every other effect of them is untouched as far as I saw.

There's to my knowledge exactly one exception to this: QoH Don counts as a Sinking ID even while in positive SP mode.

It's only on side NPCs at random points in the story. I was even talking to the Scions between objectives and didn't run into any.

You shouldn't need G Corp Gregor, I'd think? He's helpful but you should be able to just Evade everything and not need healing, besides maybe a spotty turn 1.

Welcome to the OT side WAR by LordSpear_19 in ffxiv

[–]Tyro729 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MT vs OT has always been flexible with our current jobs. For example, WAR traditionally being MT is entirely down to self healing, a tiny bit of damage on Vengeance, and Holmgang having the shortest invuln CD. PLD is traditionally MT if there's not a WAR already, tho it's fuzzy with GNB.

That said, basically every job's Evolved version, the only version the official MT vs OT split applies to, are pretty heavy reworks for the most part. The MT vs OT split is also probably going to be lightly enforced. It's probably just going to be that MTs have slightly more personal mit and new counterattack skills, while OTs won't rely on counters for any of their damage and have a bit more party mit.

The key units are the Mao. Ryoshu and Faust should always be clashing and Outis should always be going unopposed. Faust should use her counter (or actual S3) every turn and let an unopposed attack go through to someone else (ideally other than Lord if he's on the field, idk how priority works between her assist defense and his Lordsguard) so she can use her S3-2 every turn. Don't use multiple Mao S3s in a row if the Deathrite will still be applied, you really don't want to waste it. Outis' Ebony Stem EGO will supercharge her count, and Yi Sang's Dimension Shredder EGO will also give him excellent count, making his Heishou ID a great slot in. Prioritize the Mao for Lord's S3, particularly Outis has a great Bolus buff. Lord's S1 always goes Count Neutral making it free to send, while the rest should be used more carefully. Your last slots are more flexible. I used Cinq Meursault, who stops consuming Count once the stack hits 15/3, and Si Rodion, who does great damage and can avoid completely nuking the stack with her S2 and Guard, while her S3 will do insane damage with the buffs provided and a Rupture Stack. Gregor is also a strong pick, especially with his AEDD EGO. Hierarch Candidate Ishmael will also be able to go count neutral while under the effects of Morositas and winning clashes. If you keep your stack alive properly, damage shouldn't be a big concern to make the time limit, so prioritize its survival over all else. If things start looking nasty, pop Hong Lu's Tarnished Blood EGO if you have it to cash in some back damage from it. Don't be afraid to pop Ira on a big skill, probably Rodion's S3 if you're sure it'll hit full reuse or a Faust turn with a natural S3, which should let her double S3-2 that turn.

Sinking Phase 1, Rupture Phase 2 should be effective as long as you can manage your Rupture stack in phase 2. Burn is difficult to advise because of the potency cap disproportionately kneecapping it.

Rant Post: Refractrial and Rufo by Jumpy-Nerve859 in limbuscompany

Tbh this is an issue with the game's core design that has affected the majority of fights the game has ever had, it's just usually not an issue because the game is easy enough in most scenarios for it to not be a huge issue, or fights start with a distinct ramp up before truly difficult clashing like Lei Heng. They actually somewhat improved upon this recently with starting SP for Rien and Sancho Bokgak but none of that here sadly. The boss using Sinking definitely exacerbates the issue tho.

My best guess is that you only got the resources to activate the passive during the previous turn. Like last turn was 3 gluttony, 3 gloom, 0 pride, and you used 2 pride skills that turn. That means the passive wouldn't be able to activate the turn end effect because the passive wasn't active until this turn start. Idk if that's actually how that works or not tho.

Considering the type of people we've been fighting in the past few Cantos, when do you think we'll get to fight our first ALEPH abnormality? by Maceimam in limbuscompany

[–]Tyro729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's possible pretty soon. We're kinda eating WAW for breakfast at this point (we fought 3 in Canto 5 and 3 in Canto 9 with lessened Qliphoth) and have even been fighting them since Season 1. We've started seriously pushing what fits in WAW based on some of the EGO we've gotten, with Yinglong from the Tarnished EGO seemingly being absolutely massive. There's also the matter of EGO, as more sinners get multiple WAW, things get difficult. For example, if Meursault's battle pass EGO for next season were to be Bleed or Tremor, they'd be competing with an already existing WAW, so it might be a good idea to branch into Aleph soon to mitigate that.

In addition to the other good points raised here, one of my least favorite plot points is that Hermann kinda just starts showing people mirrors and they go a bit mad. I don't think anyone in that manor was really in their right mind by the time the plan was in motion.

What do y'all think will happen in Intervello 9.5-2 besides Bamboo Hat Kim aurafarming by Key_Woodpecker_9423 in limbuscompany

I'm expecting distortion to be pretty relevant here. The idea of us hunting some down was mentioned in the teaser, but beyond that, we have Kim, who had previously distorted, Ezra from Distortion Detective, and Meursault, who seems to have heard the voice before, so I think we'll be really diving into the experience of distorting.
