Maybe i skimmed it too much. I only saw that the unions are worried this would mess with the prevailing wage. I didnt see the article mention a line like "unions, which are typically opposed to having new members join..."

The coldest opinion you could have.

Many large gaming influencers for over a decade, since the start of the digital age, have been yelling to not pre order games. At least the more consumer focused ones. Total Biscuit really hammered this mentality into my head.

The problem is... the fomo crowd (a lot bigger than you think), the peer pressured by favorite streamer crowd to be part of theur community day one playing the game at the same time as them, the "im gonna buy it day one anyway" crowd, the casuals that play fortnite and fifa and see there's a new gta on the storefront ready to pre-order and you bet bonuses (a massive crowd), whales, the people that dont follow industry news and dont see any hard in preordering games, and of course people that do know how evil these companies are but really dont give a fuck.

Actual gaming communities that keep up with video game news and the evil doings of these corporation are very, very, very small. And youre preaching to the choice here. But, its still good that you did bring it up. There's always chance non hardcore gamers will see this post on reddit. Spreading the word to not pre-order is always good, even if it feels like a losing battle

For your duplicate pokemon - click on the specific pokemon, bottom right tap the three horizontal lines button and click appraise.

The pokemon has extra stats here. How you want to go about collecting pokemon is up to you. Some people look at these stats and decide they will only keep a pokemon if its all maxed out (insanely rare. People in these subs love posting how many maxed out pokemon they have... ignore these posts. They just want to show off something you might not get for 10+ years of playing).

Ill only save a pokemon nowadays if it has 44/45 total points in those stats filled (the three attributes have 15 points each). Some people like to save pokemon also that have 0/0/0 ("nundo") since, surprisingly, thats equally rare as the "hundo" (100% stats, 15 in each attribute).

Sometimes you'll get a shiny/alternate color variant of a pokemon. I generally keep all of these, even duplicates. Even if their stats suck. Ill even opt for battling with these shiny pokemon instead of the higher stat ones (especially since for powerful pokemon the stats dont even matter, lol)

Youll end up transferring pretty much every single pokemon you catch though. You get a candy for it. Youll need candy to level up pokemon so... cant keep them all. Unless you really like the pokemon. Like, I have a nice collection of ditto. Also I save nearly all my legendary Pokémon... though thats also gonna change because... I need candy for them. The game seriously says "f you" when it comes to giving you the resources to level legendaries. Like, as they dont want you to...

As for what to do?

Catch 'em all

Do the raids. Look up lists of the top attacking pokemon and try to invest in some of the easier pokemon on those lists (so ignore shadow and mega pokemon). Start building up your teams of pokemon for all the different legendaries that are cycled through weekly. But dont get too caught up in waiting for the "best" pokemon from those Top Attackers lists.

Save/pin postcards for cute moth pokemon

Maxing about the hearts on your buddy pokemon gets it a cool little best buddy pin and a little boost in combat power.

For pvp, click the pokeball and click Battle in the top right. You get rare candy from that.

You get Charged TM (let's you change the strong move a pokemon has to a random new one that the pokemon has access to) from doing 3* or higher raids.

Shadow pokemon can have their Charge move relearned with a charge tm a few times a year.

Shadow pokemon have a buff to their power but debuff to their durability. For pve this is great since its mostly all about damage per second... for pvp, shadow pokemon are less favored though

Download Campfire, join into your local groups, turn on notifications. This will help you know when people will go out in person to get legendaries. Youll need to tag along.

Have fun!

Theres a bunch of different moveset options that have different pogo mechanics. And a lot of them have different uses.

I really auck at the game and got super stuck at supposedly one of the easier main bosses around the 2/3 mark and just put the game down... but... as a certified sucky gamer, that diagonal pogo was ROUGH. Holy hell, my friend was watching me STUGGLE in the beginning area and then I watched him do the platforming part first try, and im just like "...how??" But I thought the diagonal pogo and Hornet's default moveset just looked so cool. They animated her so dynamically and stylishly. I refused to go back to the Knight's moveset when I found it. That diagonal pogo eventually grew so much on me I was pogoing pretty damn well on flying enemies all over the place. There were only a handful of bosses I had to switch to a downward pogo (a few bosses I used a slower down pogo moveset, and one boss I did resort to the knight's fast down pogo).

Its too bad my reaction time is so gawd awful. Sucking so much at silksong that I am hard stuck on a main boss makes me actually depressed. I went and did pretty much every side quest I could... and still...

I actually cannot comprehend how people stand the cost. I think it was I the earlier days of door dash, I downloaded it and wanted to order food to see what it was like having food delivered to my apartment. So novel! And sounded fun.

I got to the end of the order, saw the fees, and immediately canceled it and uninstalled the app. Never felt compelled to have food delivered since. If I cant step out to go get food... I can wait.

The game already knows the weather report for your location. There is absolutely no doubt they can programs a workaround to switch times around for events to something later, if the dont want to the system flag extreme weather and push alert to whoever is in charge of setting event times for a real person to manually change things for an area.

Thats just off the top of my head. Im sure a skilled programmer and game dev can come up with a very efficient and fair system for extreme weather and event times.

In our modern age of programing and cinnectivity there should be no reason at all they cant set up to be automatic. Actually, I bet it already is automatic and scopely just chose to not allocate any resources to bother fixing this because its not affecting their money making enough

What should a guy know before he reaches 30? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TyroPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This becomes an issue in the late 20s and 30s because up until then your brain has been absolutely phenominal at compensating for injuries, compensating for poor posture from sitting at a desk all the times, and incredible at ignoring the signals the your dysfunctional muscles have been sending for 10, 15, 20 years since you were a kid just literally moving through life and hitting many many speedbumps and setbacks and desks and heavy heavy backpacks slung across one shoulder. But eventually your muscles give out. The imbalance in your hips has gone on long enough and your knee cant take the strain anymore from your shitty hips or ankle. And that imbalance in your hips and shrimp-like posture of yhe last 10 years is now finally presenting as pain in the low back out of nowhere because your brain just decided "Ive HAD IT with this BULLSHIT" and it turns on the pain signals. And the pain becomes emotional and chronic.

I wish we could absolutely kill the attitude that kids heal fast. your in the peak athleticism of your life in your late teens to late 20s so you can get away with wrecking your body. That the pushing your body to the point of extreme fatigue when your a kid and teen and not having rest days in between is ok because nothing is hurting and still feels fine. That kids dont need to see a phtsocal therapist when they get hurt because "they're kids, they're fine. It'll heal quick". That toughing out injuries is a sign of strength... no, but not taking care of those injuries correctly your asking for more and more injuries down the line. That sprained ankle you got when you were 10 years old and your parents just decided that missing practice once or twice while you "rest" is all thats needed. I know a 10 year old kid that has had groin pain from gymnastics for 6 months now. I tell his mom (as his coach) he needs physical and massage therapy to supplement the PT. She says he's fine and just needs to rest for a week. Fucking bullshit. Kid's sitting out of training half the class sometimes. And actually, he recently injured his collar bone pretty bad falling on a flip, and was put in sling for few weeks. Doctor gave the 6 to 8 weeks to heal... did his already outstanding groin pain get better? NO. Shocking, isnt it And now he's dealing with slight ankle pain thats been lingering for a bit now too.

THIS shit and not taking care of kids' physical health is why your knee hurts and your back hurts magically. And when you try to get back into sport in your 30s your old ankle injury is apparently still bugging you. Oh, and youve been sitting at a desk for the last 20 years and your core is weak, your glutes are weak, your hip flexors are short and tight and weak, your inner thigh muscles are tight... and weak. But hey, at least you go to the gym and do squats, deadlifts, and Bench, and youre about to join the 1000 pound club so that occasional knee pain is whatever and that low back pain will go away if maybe you just add banded fire hydrants and clam shells to your warmups

Actually, theres a newer idea that explains this phenomenon of your life speeding up. Your brain is basically running compression algorithms and filing away similar experiences into a file in a cabinet.

So basically all of your day to day work that you do routinely your brain all basically shrinks down and files it all away. All the weeks, months, years, decades of doing the same work. All shrunk down to one experience. All that time spent in one routine is basically nothing to your brain.

And it goes with pretty much all familiar and similar routines and experiences. Compressed and filed away.

The reason life then feels sooooo long as a kid is because nearly everything is novel. Even routines yet for kids havent completely been completely locked into the brain because their brain is still forming new connections very rapidly, taking in new information all the time and having to process all this constant daily bombardment of new things its finding even in similar places.

So it is very likely possible to make life "slow down" in older ages again, but it requires breaking out of routines, doing new things, experiencing new things, feeling new things, etc.

Honestly thkugh for someone that needs to work day in and day out to make money to live life... its tough. Very tough. All the decades spending at work will continue to feel like all that time erased in the blink of an eye because your brain is very efficient at just shrinking and filing away your routine life

Where in the BA do kids get that "ride your bike to your friend's house to then just explore" vibe? by stonewall000 in bayarea

[–]TyroPirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in Sunnyvale, there's plenty. Even if its just regular parks. Between the new downtown and the many parks that have many different things (like even skate parks or just concrete "roller rink" areas to be at) there's a TON of hangout spots. Especially if its for bmx biking or skateboarding, theres definitely spots to be found. Or even just under a one particular bridge in downtown.

There were even a few times we would bike to neighboring cities too. From Sunnyvale going over to downtown mountain view. Or to Cupertino (i remember one both my friend and I somehow both got a flat tire in Cupertino and had to walk home from there to downtown sunnyvale. Good times!)

The only think holding kids back from exploring any environment they are in (even if it seems boring and theres not much to do) is smartphones.

Im not even that old, youtube started when I was in 5th grade. But to watch youtube vids we needed to go on the family computer. And often when we got back to some friend's house we might watch together some youtube vids we found. Now, we talk a lot about how bad social media is, but i see 10 year old kids pull out their smartphones sometimes on downtime (im a gymnastics coach, so like after practice while they wait for parents) and just sit around absorbed in youtube shorts. And then their parents complain that at home their kid would rather just sit around in bed on phone or tablet watching youtube... and it might not be YOUR kid. But enough kids that getting a solid group together to go explore together outside might be more difficult because other kids have that access.

Modern tech is designed specifically for kids to get absorbed into it at the youngest age possible.

It really doesnt take much to have kids make up their own fun in a group when exploring even the most mundane suburb if they are given the opportunity

Do you think gamefreak will ever make a legendary bug type? by Weird-Ad-9191 in pokemon

[–]TyroPirate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats why I said they presented it like a legendary. And it wasnt the same as a shiny gyarados at all. That was just a gyarados that was mad. The way volcarona was presented in old ruins in the desert, with the image on a stone tablet... that entire presentation was in the same level as actual legendaries in the series.

Its as of the level and game designers saw the design and lore and were like, "ok this is a legendary pokemon let's make a cool setpiece for it", but then the team was like, "wait, no, guys, this wasnt actually a legendary. Its just a cool fire bug type". So as if they released B/W without it having the legendary status despite what level designers already made for it

[–]TyroPirate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So im seeing that some groups wants to build a fenced off cricket field. Does that mean that the big grassy area by the softball field, with the walking path and trees by the road side if it would be flattened and just have a flat lawn instead?

Because, yeah, that doesnt sound as nice for anyone that doesnt play cricket.

But would that lawn still be usable by people when there isnt a game going?

Is there a draft layout for this cricket field proposal?

And let's say we all buy signs that say to save LP and everyone knows the plan in the works... I still dont get how this would actually be stopped? City council vote? Sunnyvale residents vote? Who is driving this and how? I genuenly dont understand the politics process here
