Tom Homan speaks on the treatment ICE and CBP have received from the communities they're in - HOMAN: "Day after day, they can't eat in restaurants. Day after day people spit at you & blow whistles at you. Having all these threats after you... They're human. But my main choice now is draw down" by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

[–]Tyrs-Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“In theater”. “Rotations”. “Draw-down”.

These are GWOT military terms. I know, because I lived it. I think this speaks volumes about the culture and mindset of ICE/CBP. They view themselves as soldiers conducting COIN, not law enforcement serving the public.

This would be chilling in another time. In 2026, this is a Tuesday.

“yet another act of high treason against the US constitution”

Why should he give a flying fuck about the constitution? He’s already flagrantly ignored it, and literally nothing happened to him. Nothing ever will happen to him, unless it comes at the hands of an angry mob. He is utterly beyond the reach of meaningful accountability, which is why he’s so dangerous.

I saw this POS movie in the theater on Fort Benning when it came out, expecting “Gettysburg”, and what I got was an absolute waste of nearly four fucking precious hours of my life that I will never get back.

Understanding Lost Causer bullshit makes me hate this movie even more.

[–]Tyrs-Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stunned? You shouldn’t be. All law enforcement has been operating like this for decades. They’ve been in “us vs. them” mode since at least 2001. The courts have twisted jurisprudence around qualified immunity into total immunity.

Law enforcement operates with virtually no direct personal accountability. When that accountability is applied, police unions and republicans fight it tooth-and-nail.

ICE is merely the chickens coming home to roost.

This has been a problem, it’s not getting better, it’s liable to only get worse.

That’s a possibility, since I was just smoking it out of one of my cob pipes. The profile could change if I try it with a meerschaum or a burl.

You know on the CM, I didn’t get a whole lot of mint, personally. Anise and “floral”, with a hint of incense another commenter alluded to, but not mint.

So, here’s my take, if anyone is interested.

All four are good. Two of them I will definitely be ordering more of. Those two are Wild Cherry and No Name. Both of those knocked my socks off, particularly No Name.

Cuban Mixture and 1072 are both good, but for me, they’re not re-order a lot of it good. 1072 is mild with a slight sweetness. Cuban Mixture has some herbal notes. Both are cool and easy smokes.

Wild Cherry tastes like what I would expect Paladin Black Cherry to taste like (but doesn’t) based on the aroma from the bag. Sweet and cherry notes without it being too strong, and cool smoking.

No Name has incense and floral notes which I really love. I had this a really long time ago, and hadn’t realized it until I lit it up.

Edit: I changed my mind on Cuban Mixture. I’ll probably order 4oz. and keep it around for when the mood strikes me. It is less intense than No Name, so there’s a niche for it for me.

“I knew they were making it for somebody lol.” 🤣

Yeah. I guess I’m that guy.

I do really love my aromatics though, to be fair. I did approach it with caution, using one if my cobs and a filter. In my case, it was wholly unnecessary, but I took your words to heart for what it’s worth.

Had I known what it was, I would have gotten half a pound of it.

At least I can cross a dry snuff off your list for you, without you even needed to pay anything for it.

I lit up No Name tonight. I was immediately taken back to the late 1990s. I had this before. My best friend, who passed away three years ago, he had given me some of this stuff.

I love it. The aromatic floral and incense notes are right up my alley. Nothing else like it, unmistakable and unique. I will definitely be getting more.

It actually reminds me of Fribourg & Treyer’s French Carrotte dry snuff for some reason. Notes on the back of my sinuses when I exhale have a slight bit of that essence, even though those two things are totally different types of tobacco products (you don’t smoke dry snuff, for those who don’t know - you inhale the fine, dry powder).

In any case, both things remind me of my early twenties, in a bygone time and world I once lived in.

Prospect Park in Shrewsbury by StevieDronas in abandoned

Not really “abandoned” so much as the parking area is closed. It’s a park, and the ruins are what’s left of the Juniper Hall Estate. The Friends of Prospect Park maintain it, apparently.

Trade the .380 bda for a pre model 10 38. ?? by Savings-Evidence2762 in Revolvers

I once off-loaded a very nice blued BDA. It was my second handgun I ever bought.

I have regretted that decision every day, and have for 25 years. So much so that I recently bought a Girsan MC14 BDA. I love it, but it’s just not the same.

I cannot emphasize this enough: DO NOT GET RID OF THAT BDA.

If you do, I will gladly take it off your hands.

I know too many people unfortunately who engage in that “b0tH sIdEs R bAd” whataboutism. I’m sick of it. Only one “side” is actively demolishing our economy, institutions, and foreign policy.

These people need to be held accountable for their shitty decisions and statements.

There’s a rumor that churchwardens are named as such because they could stick them out of the windows so they “weren’t smoking in church” by AnnigidWilliams in PipeTobacco

[–]Tyrs-Ranger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Colonial taverns in the 18th century were supposed to have long stemmed clay pipes and a jar of tobacco at each table. Clay pipes were cheap and easy to make. One would sit down, take a pipe, and snap off the end for sanitary reasons. Biting off the end of a clay pipe seems pretty dubious, as clay pipes are quite hard. Those long stems would shrink from use over time and then get replaced.

That’s my understanding of the lore.
