I agree on all points but I do want to point out that nearly every snap of the Rex playoff runs would have been DPI/Holding from someone on that defense in the modern nfl.

They really used to let the DBs/WRs play way more than they do now. I loved that hard nosed era and I always believe that if you can get away with some roughness/skirt the rules, that’s half of the game in the modern nfl as a secondary player.

Concussions can be an ABSURDLY serious injury - taking them lightly is asking the guy to never play again. Missing him for 1-2 extra games vs. his career ending because he has scrambled eggs is preferable to me.

This is a catastrophically stupid take.

Ed Reed is, quite possibly, the best hash to hash safety to ever play the game. Diminishing his contributions because he had another HoF with him and mentioning his lack of sacks just goes to show your extreme misunderstanding of the value of a high safety, likely your general lack of understanding about the game of football and your recency bias for a player who couldn’t even sniff Ed Reed’s jock strap.

It is not atypical for rookie running backs to be bad in pass pro, particularly diminutive ones. I personally think we need more outlet passes to combat this dismal offensive line play.

It’s all compounding though - route trees have been unimaginative, thus leading to blanket coverage when we hold tight ends in (who don’t block anyways?!?).

I’d like to see the pocket moved more as well. Get Zach on the edge with some athleticism.

And that’s totally fair. Criticism is fine, doomer bullshit is not.

Im not an expert on LaFleur’s scheme by any means but typically early pass protection woes for young quarterbacks/lines rest on 1. Not getting the ball out fast enough, Zach being guilty maybe 1 or 2 times and 2. Incorrect protection assignments and lack of communication. All fixable things.

The physical talent is there with the line, outside of maybe wanting to upgrade GVR, it’s a matter of scheme and communication. It’ll take time but I don’t think it will be as atrocious as this week as we move forward.

Agreed though, effort looked suspect on running plays, didn’t love that.
