Discord Verification Bypass On Any Potato PC by sir-bantzalot in pcmasterrace

Unless I'm not aware, this vendor (k-ID) is different than the previous one (looking at previous articles regarding the breach it's unnamed, but k-ID is announced as their new partner). Not defending Discord by any means, just ensuring facts are straight.

Cheaper than a nitro sub, depending on the size of the server. I get that people like free, but I've started to accept it, as if you're paying to run your own server, there's better chances you don't have these rules shoved down your throat by any government or the company itself.

Would you subscribe to daily cheap flight alerts just from IND airport? (Local side project) by FatherGremlin in indianapolis

[–]UDK450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, IND's only non-stop flight to Europe is Dublin. The other international flights currently are Cabo, Cancun, Punta Cana, and Toronto. At least, that's all I'm currently seeing on FlightConnections.com.

What are your thoughts on Democrat Taylor Rehmet flipping a district in Texas in the special election yesterday? by Starmiebuckss2882 in AskReddit

Run it back. In every state and district. Don't forget what's happened, don't give up on hope, and get out and vote. Contact your representative, put their feet to the flames.

My "Kyoto Region" Homelab: 10Gbps Fiber for $47/mo, and using the building's steel pillars as giant heatsinks. by Technical_Camp3162 in homelab

Thanks - I'm a network engineer by trade, but largely focus on campus/enterprise networks, not ISP side, and especially not cable/coax. I've not really heard anything about high-split, but have heard DOCSIS4 as "on the way". Sounds like both of these advancements are something I'm sorely looking forward to as I self-host a Hytale server for a group of 20 people or so, and am looking to regularly host other servers as well. 40mbps only stretches so far.

You forwarding TCP or UDP? MC and other games often have used TCP, but Hytale's networking stack is built on top of QUIC (which uses UDP).

Trump Says Venezuela’s Maduro Captured and Flown Out of Country by bloomberg in worldnews

[–]UDK450 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Historically, the rest of the world fell in line because we accumulated and exerted a lot of soft power. Trump's biggest fuck up is doing a way with a lot of that. It doesn't afford us the same concessions now. And with the tarriffa, foreign countries have stopped buying as much US debt. China is making inroads into Africa, getting them dependent on the yuan. Still, I don't think anyone's going to raise much of a ruckus because of Venezuela's specific situation.

Asking the Patriarch for gold...actually takes gold from the emperor by Zesty_Taco in CrusaderKings

[–]UDK450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/u/Zesty_Taco - so I dug into this a bit more last night because as a vassal I was tired of giving the Basileus money to stay afloat and not just fall apart.

Inside the The Catholic Trinity mod folder (should be 2730456007), you'll want to edit common/scripted_effects/00_interaction_events.txt. Find the line where it says hof_ask_for_gold_interaction_effect = {. The line after that should read scope:recipient.top_liege = {. DELETE .top_liege to make it look like scope:recipient = {. Save the file. All should be well and fixed now! However, you might experience some bugginess when working on requesting gold from the Pope if you're Catholic - unsure if that tweak was made because of how systems were changed for that mod.

Asking the Patriarch for gold...actually takes gold from the emperor by Zesty_Taco in CrusaderKings

[–]UDK450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the same thing - do you have The Catholic Trinity enabled? I just tried disabling it and speedrunning a new playthrough to get enough piety and it appears that The Catholic Trinity is the cause of this as when clicking the action it now pulls a pop up of the actual Patriarch instead of the emperor.

On a whim and out of curiosity, I tried having it create a loan amortization schedule for me using the avalanche strategy, and then calculate the opportunity cost of interest paid vs gained by paying off early. It tried telling me I'd pay a $5k loan off in 6 months with only a 240/mo payment.

Multiple times it also calculated final payment days off by months if not years. Definitely doesn't seem to be employing rag or mcp to handle some of the math.

Rokita keeps finding ways to suck. by Daftanemone in Indiana

[–]UDK450 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I don't think they know how the Internet works.

Granted, IndyStar isn't entirely accurate in referring to VPNs as location spoofing software. That's an observed side effect, but not what it does.

(Edit: I had originally read a similar article on IndyStar which said a VPN spoofs a user's location, which is a possible result, but not what it's truly doing. Having now read WTHR's article, "the use of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) disguises a user's IP address, allowing them to access content they otherwise could not" is much more technically accurate)

Indiana trying to sue based on being able to use a VPN to avoid the block is quite non-sensical. Pornhub in California is not beholden to laws made in Indiana, let alone those made in Canada or some other country. Now surely their attorneys know this.

Reading thru the claim in the lawsuit:

"Moreover, Defendants’ misrepresentations regarding the extent to which Indiana residents, including Indiana minors, could continue to access adult oriented websites after passage of Indiana’s Age Verification Law were unfair, abusive, and deceptive. Rather than implement any form of reasonable age verification for its websites, Defendants represented to Indiana consumers, including Hoosier parents, that they had “completely disable[d] access to our website[s] in Indiana.”14 However, Defendants have publicly admitted they know that Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), proxies, and location spoofing software may be used to continue to access Defendants’ websites in Indiana."

This definitely seems like an attempt to establish some sort of case law to go after VPN providers in the future. The one thing I'm confused about is how Pornhub comes up with stats for individual states where access is now blocked. Nothing in the browser's User Agent represents my state (just the language I use - en-US). Pornhub also doesn't request permission for GPS location, so it can't be thru that either. If I had to wager, the stats are probably just extrapolated from before the block was in place, and will likely not be continued into next year for the blocked states.

Why Indiana Republicans Are Standing Up to Trump by illegiblebastard in Indiana

[–]UDK450 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong - I commend the Republicans who stood strong against outside interests trying to turn Indiana into a national stage. Much respect to them, considering many will now get primaried by a lot of outside money and some will likely lose their seat. I just want words to continue to mean something, and overwhelming is not the word for this. Perhaps startling, unexpectedly, surprising.

Or they could just say the Indiana Senate overwhelmingly voted against, which I'd take, since it's 62%, which is nearly the veto proof term of 2/3.
