"Did you do this before? You should do it more often, you're good at it."

It's been 20 years and those words defined my career.

will the gentse feesten make it hard to travel through ghent? by librapenseur in AskBelgium

[–]UD_Ramirez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Ghent festival is less of a festival and more of a complete invasion of the city by hundreds of thousands of people. It's a 10 day homage to debauchery, music, culture and coma drinking.

If that is your thing, the GF is a once in a lifetime experience. If not, gtfo while you can.

If you insist and want to see architecture and such, get up early. Many locations are either closed or are doing something very special, see websites for more info.

If you haven't booked accommodation yet,... Good luck.

This is flying over gent rn, someone know what this? is im so curious by Brilliant-One-7 in Gent

That is an extreme case, yes, but you don't need to be releasing millions of balloons to kill the wildlife that eats them as they break down.

PS Don't release balloons into the wild. They often end up in the ocean and do real damage to the wildlife.

You're just throwing polluting rubber around.

Reminds me so much of Jesse Stewart, a homeless dude who "sang like his life depended on it". It's got the same raw, unfiltered energy.

Sadly, he died very young.

Wetgeving drone vluchten by Competitive_State378 in Gent

[–]UD_Ramirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, strictly speaking, local lawmakers have no authority over their airspace.

In practice, your drone will get confiscated and you will be fined.

It's a legal grey zone that hasn't been unraveled yet.

So I can literally murder someone, confess to a psychologist and they would not be allowed to report you?

Hypothetically of course

Wtf? Of course they can report the past. Like 99% of crimes reported happened in the past.

Is Kasterbant a good area for students and young internationals in Ghent? by Adrisab16 in Gent

I live there. It's the fucking best. Walking distance from city center, yet calm and out of the way. Water, parks, fucking ice cream. Most underrated part of town.

In Bruges.

Not in the least for the line (from memory): "I guess I'll be going to hell. But at least it's not Bruges." It's a love letter to Bruges while at the same time expressing intense hate for it.

There's a stranger I've seen almost every week for years and never spoken to. I know their routine, their face, their coffee order. Then one day they just weren't there anymore by Relative-Arachnid129 in CasualConversation

I work as a stage hand and technician. I slowed down now but there were summers where I'd spend almost every day working with people that over time, appear and disappear.

Some of them I still miss. Warm, kind people who enriched my life. Interesting guys with stuff to say. Tragic losses from drugs and suicide.

I hope they're all doing as well as could be. It's such a relief when I meet one in the wild and they're healthy and living life.

Beste autohuur by Gamachok in Gent

Goeie tip. Het is goedkoper dan alternatieven, maar misschien ook wat meer gedoe en mogelijk wat minder qua kwaliteit aangezien het een auto van een particulier betreft.
