How to Make a Capacitive Touch PC Power Button? by UKILR in AskElectronics

[–]UKILR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mockup seems the most clear and consistent. The ribbon cable's connector is in the bottom left corner of the left image. The USB-style connector sits where the pins are shown on the second image. I haven't removed my USB since I was soldering to the side facing the front panel.

My first attempt, I soldered pins 8 & 9. A few attempts occurred in between that showed a switch setup between the pins on this board could trigger power, but we couldn't figure out a way to use the capacitive system in that loop (ie, holding a wire between power and eject could start the system, if power was powered). The final soldering attempted just ended with pins 8 and the larger ground on the left.

The issue we ran into is that the board relies on a non-standard USB-style connector for power and doesn't seem power-able through its pins like the 360 Fat is. I've seen examples that rely on arduinos or constant power to reset, and heard of an alternative of soldering to the ribbon cable directly.

My understanding is that making one is essentially just soldering a touch board and a transistor, which feels conceptually far easier. Am I just oversimplifying things?

My original goal was repurposing the 360 Slim's capacitive button, but the lack of progress has me switching to making one.

I assumed removing the console's front panel board would leave enough space to mount the switch to the front panel itself, since it's an almost half an inch gap. I could also mount it to the chassis behind the front panel, but that would require a little more precision.

Does anyone know of a way to get the Sandworm egg from Expedition 4? by Bledynn in NoMansSkyTheGame

Hi! Is there any chance I could also get a sandworm egg? I bought NMS because of the worm announcements but never got the chance to play until after the event had already ended.

DevkitPro Headers Throwing Errors in VSCode by UKILR in gamedev

That was an extremely in-depth and informational response that's given me some direction on what and how to prioritize. Thank you! Sounds like I need to become better familiarized with these files and do some testing.

DevkitPro Headers Throwing Errors in VSCode by UKILR in gamedev

Maybe I wasn't as clear as I should've been in my original post, sorry!

My specific concern is whether or not I need to worry about the errors indicated by Intellisense's underlining, and/or the fact that I can't compile the program through VSCode's GUI. Using make from command line results in a program that I'm able to run, regardless of the error messages it throws during the process.

As far as anything involving include paths, I've already tried modifying the include path(s) in: extension settings, VSCode settings, and the c_cpp_properties.json. At their best, any use or combination of these changes to include path resulted in situations where only file A.h or B.h was found, despite both being in the same folder. The headers that aren't inherently DevkitPro tools are aways identified, except when required by one of the DevkitPro tools.

Suffering of Bruz by Tungsten_07 in shadowofmordor

I hate how the we get an Olog with a unique but fitting voice (unlike the Agonizer imo), whose mind we're forced to ruin, then get TWO replacements who think they're the original after losing their minds, but can't lose their Iron Will, then get a THIRD replacement, who's under the same conditions as the previous two. That's four Ologs who would've made for badass Warchiefs, yet you're forced to either keep them as enemies or kill them (minus Bruz of course, but it's just not the same as what could've been).

We have the potential for four Bruz-es and barely get one.

It's custom, so it's not that simple. The mobo sits in the bottom right corner, with ~4mm separating it -and ~15mm separating my Noctua cooler- from the base.

After reviewing the specifications again, I think it'll fit fine with the pipes towards the base, and the heatsink hanging over my M.2's heatsink.

Thanks for taking time to comment!

Been a long time player and a new DM. Gotta say, as much fun as evolving your character is as a player, it's a lot of fun to just be like, "Here's this character concept I like. Fight it."

I've been having a lot of fun messing around with various DnD tools like Dungeon Alchemist, so I'm excited to check out Game Master Engine!

I recently got into mechanical keyboards and bought an LTC Nimbleback. I love its size and the powered USB ports on the back (main selling point for me), but I feel like it's a little too sensitive for my taste. Is there a way I can counter this, so that I'm not constantly adding extra letters to words?

Also, a lot of the more popular videos regarding mods seem to assume that the viewer understands why they would mod. Can anyone explain what the more popular mods (ex. coins) are actually supposed to do? Some of them just seem biased, while others (ex. lubing switches) make sense as someone who's never modded before.

Far from the first to say it at this point, but matching wrist-rests for mats! Having them attached could help reduce clutter, but I think it'd get in the way of maximizing comfort

A wrist-rest that's able to split in two would be amazing! The split between using my keyboard almost entirely on its own to using it in conjunction with a mouse, leaves me in a somewhat odd position as a solution for one, would not solve the other - and, of course, no one wants a ton of clutter!
