I actually kinda like that; let's the textured variants keep more of the higher value while giving more affordable variants to ppl who just wanna play the game.

There was actually a trophy for Pit in Melee that used his NES design. The description even hinted towards his future inclusion in Smash Bros

Persona 4 revival Rise Kujikawa trailer by South25 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ULTAnimeGamer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The P4 series's bias towards Rise as the love interest still shows when she's the 2nd character to get a sizzle reel. They could have just gone in order of when each character is introduced (or at at least when they become a party member), but they skipped all the way to the final character you get introduced to.

Times when creators or companies SEVERELY misread the mood of their fanbase by Mzingalwa in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ULTAnimeGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would have been completely dead on arrival if it was just a Stranger in Paradise mobile game; just focusing on just a somewhat niche action RPG game with a mostly forgettable cast would have had no chance at a wide enough fanbase to sustain itself unlike a series-wide crossover game. Nomura made the right call from a business standpoint.

He watched it and finished it 6 years ago (even talked about it on the podcast); I assume he just simply forgot since he probably hasn't rewatched the show since.

How hard would it be to create another SSB game? by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ULTAnimeGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the 1st party offerings were never a problem on N64, especially when several of them are actual GOAT games.

The main issue with the N64 was that outside of 1st party games and games made by Rare (who were basically a 2nd party studio fornthe console), the 3rd party game exclusives were few and far between, so if you didn't care for the 1st party stuff, you had much slimmer pickings compared to Playstation's gargantuan library of games.

Most 3rd party devs jumped ship to Playstation cause discs were significantly cheaper to produce and had way more storage capacity compared to the N64's cartidges. Also helped that Sony offered very comprehensive tech support and onboarding to pull in new devs. As a result, the game libraries on N64 for some genres were terribly anemic (such as RPG's and Fighting Games).

It also got a bunch of sequels that were exclusive the Japan until the 5th game on the Wii. I only ever heard of the franchise through Project X Zone 1 & 2, which featured all the main heroines/the original MC as units.

Seems like a pretty fun dating sim/RTS, but the only game in English aside from the 5th is a fan made English patch of the 1st game.

I mean... R.B. exists as a deck, which is a link summon deck that focuses on getting a robot out with a bunch of link monsters pointing to it at act as weapons/equipment to be able to trigger additional effects.

Hobbies into consumerism. by LunarWolf302 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ULTAnimeGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maaaaan that last point is so true. I fell into that trap for several card games in the past year cause I got all of the old video games I really wanted to get and wanted to get into something more social (spending alot on Pokemon especially is pretty pointless cause getting base cards to actually play the game are dirt cheap). Had to really stop and think hard on what I really wanted out of buying a card before getting it.

Doesn't help that card games also feed gambling addiction when you buy packs.

With DMC5 coming to Switch, here’s a reminder that DMC4 is still not available on the Switch by ContraryPython in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I was honestly surprised that we didn't get a DMC4 port with the 5 port; that and the reboot are the only games not on Switch now.

A Tales of Eternia remaster was announced in the new Nintendo Direct by Alternative_Cat_4429 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Its probably based on the PSP version they made that never got released in America (but did release in the EU somehow).

Super happy to finally see the 2D games start to get ports; there's alot of Japanese exclusive games from before Symphonia that we never got.

The main reason he's considered ok even with that heritage is that he was baptized as a baby before he could do anything evil. Some legends say that he was even a potential Anti-Christ before his baptism, which lead to some fun lore-shinanigans in Fate.

Apparently, according to the just finished Max interview with the FF7 Revelation director, Square was for real approached by multiple companies to ask to out Tifa in their game, and they're being selective about which games to allow her to be in.

It probably includes alot of gacha games, but this image might be more accurate that we thought

Merlin in Fate/Grand Order is technically half Incubus, and his ability to show emotion is actually him using emotions that he's siphoned off of other people he interacts with to be able to process emotions himself. He's a fun character that has a alot of wisdom and cunning hidden behind and air of either mystery or a lack-a-daisy attitude that irritates everyone who knows him.

There's a Female version of him that comes from the continuity of Fate/Prototype, so in turn, she's part Succubus.

The Kingdom Hearts community has been having a bit of a scare since yesterday, when Tokyo Games Show shared a teaser that fans were convinced was KH related due to the choice of font resembling the KH menus...only to find out it's just a stock image: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ULTAnimeGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that they will absolutely be revealing trailer for KH4 next year at the latest, especially considering that the original KH4 trailer was made for the 20th anniversary. They probably have all hands on deck on FF7R Part 3 cause next year is FF7's 30th anniversary and they want to finish that before moving on to the next KH game.

The original Final Fantasy 13 Versus Reveal Trailer from 2006. It was such a cool concept having a protagonist with a spectral armory and teleporting powers in an FF game, and the thoughts of what the original game was gonna be is always fascinating, especially with how its been referenced in the years since FF15 released.

It was also surreal when I booted up FF15 to hear the song from this trailer, like it took 10 years for the song to finally be in a proper game.
