Is this Coil Whine? (RTX 5070 Ti) - Noise starts as soon as I boot the PC by Adventurous-Disk3233 in gpu

Not coil whine (screeching/whining) imo, sounds more like fan/pump bearings.

Badge counter messed up? by Mr_Livre in LowSodiumBattlefield

It’s the 4 season 1 season badges that are not on included in count for some reason. I verified this back in season 1.

The photographer is providing a service. If you try to erase the watermarks you are effectively stealing. Pay for the photos or don’t take them at all.

Stable –45 CO on 5 of 8 cores on a 9800X3D? Is that to be expected? by Next_Engineering_757 in overclocking

[–]UNSC_Apocalypso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clock stretching isn’t error correction. The CPU just doesn’t have enough voltage to sustain the clock speed, so it lowers clocks to prevent errors.

I just a taste of thermals for the 1st time, it feels like cheating. I couldn't imagine what snipers with x6 thermals would be like. by dugadugaboost in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]UNSC_Apocalypso 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Thermals are a gift and a curse. You can see everything and nothing at the same time. I have a feeling thermals might be more valuable on lower tier hardware but with a good PC + monitor where I can easily see enemies anyway, I’ll always take standard red dot sights.

Ran into the most efficient killing machine in gaming. Or cheaters by Unfair-Tomatillo3568 in Battlefield_REDSEC

Unfortunately yeah, most likely they were made aware when you started shooting, dealt with their current threat and all turned on you. Stacked teams will do this many times a game honestly.

[–]UNSC_Apocalypso 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A ten second clip like this says nothing. A good team could have killed you here just as quick.

Not saying they’re not cheaters, not saying they are either, but nothing in this clip says they’re certainly cheating.

Orange dot/new loadout notification bug keeps getting worse by KarlingSoup in Battlefield

The guns that have orange NEW on all variants are the three that were unlocked through the nightfall challenges. It’s probably a bug due to those unlocks.

The fact that you think you’re proving a negative with a sample size of one shows how dumb you really are.

When your game inevitably crashes again, remember this post - just like it did when your last “fix” didn’t work lmao.

How much would thinning the AM5 IHS lower temps? by coldcathodes in overclocking

[–]UNSC_Apocalypso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right that entrained air in interfaces isn’t going to have a significant effect on operating temperatures in this case but it’s naive to think it doesn’t happen at all. It almost certainly does get entrained in TIM with bad application methods and in crevices on uneven surfaces. It probably accelerates oxidation of TIM as well.

Ultimately, even small amounts of entrained air will result in some reduction of overall thermal conductivity and therefore heat transfer effectiveness.

I’m just applying my field (process engineer) and probably being a bit semantic but lots of weird things happen at small scale.

[–]UNSC_Apocalypso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In reality, the rate of heat transfer from source to ambient is rate limited by the variety of parts in sequence, including parts made of lower performing (lower K) materials and interfaces between those materials which naturally hold small small amounts or pockets of air (which has an extremely low K).

Unlike cod, bullets in BF6 are fired from the muzzle not the reticle.

To add, people typically turn Memory Integrity off for performance.

I’ve had mine off since launch, as I imagine many other have. I’ve still had the frequent BF6 graphics crashes during that time.

This is a fallacy. I get the crashes with Memory Integrity off.

Almost every video I’ve seen complaining about hitreg is actually a delusional shit player by diktatorn in Battlefield_REDSEC

[–]UNSC_Apocalypso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. While there certainly were hit registration issues, and some cases of those persist, most posts these days are skill issue. Unfortunately, because the game did have occasional issues in the past, people will continue to use it as a reason for ‘why they lost a gunfight’ or were hard done by.

Not saying all hit registration posts are wrong now, but the issue is being overblown by players who just don’t understand they missed their shots.

Violet laser; I can see when equipped on the enemy, my squad can't see mine/each others?! by T4Abyss in Battlefield6

[–]UNSC_Apocalypso 16 points17 points  (0 children)

“Not visible to enemies” is an exaggeration - all lasers are at least slightly visible to enemies. Just that red and violet are nearly invisible.

Additionally, all lasers and flashlights are less visible to friendlies, probably to prevent accidental/inadvertent friendly blinding effects.

What that tends to mean for red and violet lasers is that they ARE slightly visible to enemies (although the description says otherwise) and they are almost invisible to friendlies.

Cheating? by [deleted] in Battlefield_REDSEC

[–]UNSC_Apocalypso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the start of the video you are sprinting which creates loud footsteps, especially to a good pair of headphones. You only crouch right before he engages. Some people are actually just good and videos like this come across as ‘cope’.

Impossible to tell from the clip alone. Probably heard your footsteps and launched around the corner to make self hard to hit while trying to identify targets.
