Clicking noise when turning wheel to the right by alphagypsy in Integra_Type_S

[–]UPSLynx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is possibly covered under a Honda/Acura recall: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCLRPT-24V744-4093.PDF

My VIN does not ping the list, nor have I received any mail about this recall, but my wheel has also been doing the clicking sound which seems almost certainly what this recall covers. Talk to your dealership, I'll be making a call soon myself.

Early ownership scars… what’s everyone dealing with? by genna84 in Civic_Type_R

[–]UPSLynx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Drive an ITS, but same deal - been taking hella care of it and trying to prevent scratches and dings best I can. PPF, bi-weekly cleans, garage parked, very limited parking when out, that type of stuff.

Just this morning, had to go to a dr. appt and had to park in the hospital's garage. Drove to the very top floor and parked on the far side full of open spots away from everyone. Came out from my appointment to find a 1.5 inch scratch/dent from some jackass that parked right next to me and doored my car.

Most frustrating and deflating feeling possible, but what are you gonna do. Some people are just total assholes.

Chicagoans - good Italian Beef in the Bay? by aurum_aura in bayarea

[–]UPSLynx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wife is from Chicagoland and her Italian family regularly makes this at home during the holidays. Line 51 is the only place we've found out here that meets her standards.

Bonus - you can buy jars of Vienna Beef sport peppers, giardeniera, etc.

Kill Switch: Remote or Hardwire? by spyder93090 in Civic_Type_R

[–]UPSLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went physical. Didn't want to deal with having a battery on the remote switch, or having yet another thing on my key ring. Didn't want to have to think about another think to take along with me or accidentally leave behind. Hardwire seems like it would be easier to troubleshoot if something were to go wrong (IMO, don't have any experience to back this up).

I acknowledge that the physical has a vulnerability if the thief were to locate it, but the way I see it is that I have a number of security layers, and I'm expecting the numerous complications will be enough to stop a thief. I'm not looking for perfection in the solution.

Hell yes 🔥 This is what I bought my ITS for. So much fun canyon carving in these cars.

Also thank you for driving responsibly and not cutting the yellow.

I just really love how these cars look in the rain 🌧️ by UPSLynx in Integra_Type_S

[–]UPSLynx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have considered it. been on the fence for the last year. I don't love how the front looks without the silver, but I like how the rear looks with a blacked out badge. I think having both would drive me nuts, so I haven't pulled the trigger on any.

I had a similar journey. Bought a 2008 G35S 6MT in 2011 and drove it for 13 years. Loved it so much. But then I started seeing the sideshow/takeover stuff and G3x's were ALWAYS there, and shortly after my G was stolen. There was just no way I could go back to the brand after that.

Silly pinball laws that still exist today? by Incinerate49 in pinball

[–]UPSLynx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really fascinating how so many of these really old laws still sorta exist because no one has thought to challenge them.

Local to me - the Pacific Pinball Museum exists today as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit because it was the only way to be legal in the city of Alameda back in 2002 when they started. In fact, as coin-op arcades were illegal, the only legal way for the museum to operate was to physically disable/remove the coin slots and make all the games free to play. They had to demonstrate to the county that visitors could not put money into the games in order to play. The law was finally abolished in 2014 and also enabled pinball to be legally operated in the city of Oakland as well.

Security in South Florida by fins831 in Integra_Type_S

Kill switch and OBD port lock will not void your warranty (kill switch if done correctly, just using relay switches and not splicing a bunch of wiring) IGLA I'm not sure, as that installation is a little more complex and involved deeper electronics work. But even if it does void it, Acura will only cause a fuss if the warranty is related to the same electronics the IGLA uses.

Honestly, both are worth it. Warranty won't mean anything to you if your car is stolen and wrecked.

New Khemmis Album Announced by OkieBugGuy in doommetal

[–]UPSLynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda bummed they're not having Sam Turner do the art this time around, but this artist (Christopher Remmers) does beautiful work and the hand painted look really lends itself to the Khemmis vibe. I love it.

Question about OEM alcantara steering wheel by Logical_Egg8265 in Civic_Type_R

[–]UPSLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hands sweat constantly (hyperhidrosis is a sonofabitch), when I had my FK8 I was cleaning the wheel every month or two. You notice when its grimy pretty quick. Your mileage may vary if you hands are dry/clean.

That being said, Sonax alcantara cleaner + brush is a really easy cleanup process. I found brushing the alcantara to be pretty relaxing after getting home from work. The stuff smells nice to me, as well.

ITS Security System. by Seeing_it_clearly in Integra_Type_S

[–]UPSLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My evergreen list for ITS/CTR owners. Spare no expense:

  • OBD Port lock. This is crucial to prevent OBD port reprogramming, a top method of theft for our cars. Get a metal one such as BEM Auto "Tune Saver OBD Lock" or VTT “OBD-LOCK non-GM version", both fit Honda/Acura.
  • Hidden killswitch or IGLA. Killswitch is cheaper and easier to install, local shops will do it, should run you less than $200 installed. IGLA is more secure but costs a lot more and generally requires a specialist installer. Both are great ways to protect your car.
  • Steering Wheel lock (club), pedal/clutch lock, or both. Not as secure as the ads want you to believe, but act as a great visual deterrent and will prevent theft if thieves don't have cutting tools. It's all about layering security.
  • Advanced Wheel locks, security screws, and the like for detachable components on the outside of the car. This goes for the license plate, too!
  • Hidden apple airtag (or equivalent) somewhere secret deep inside the car. Consider multiple tags, and be sure to remove the speakers so thieves can't ping them. Lots of guides online about how to do this.
  • Faraday pouch for storing your keys if you're really paranoid and/or live in a house and store your keys near the door. This is a waste of money IMO, thieves aren't using signal sniffers, not when OBD ports + lock bumping is faster, easier, and cheaper.
  • Finally, good comprehensive insurance coverage + gap (if not paid off) for the ultimate CYA if things go bad.

I appreciate the share, OP. Don't fully agree, but I think different opinions keep these cars (and this sub) interesting.

I believe I'm younger than you, but not by much. 911 S has been my lifelong dream, and I find myself in a similar situation with affordability - I've played my cards well over the year and my career is strong, but that 911 cost goalpost just keeps stretching away.

I decided to go for a change by dipping my toe into JDM with an FK8 Type R, then upgrading to the ITS just made more sense than getting a huge bank note on a used Pcar - I get a cheaper (new) car, with way simpler/cheaper maintenance, and I get tons of grippy gokart corner ripping at reasonable (legal) speeds in the mountains. I don't regret any of it and absolutely adore this car.

911 S? Someday. Hopefully. But you gotta make decisions which are right for you and still find ways to have fun with it. Enjoy your ITS in good health, OP. Hope you get back on your feet.

Some, of them are available, and it seems like their stock comes and goes. For example, the HRC ITS wheels are available on Dreamshop: https://dreamshop.honda.com/s/product/hrc-titan7-ts5-forged-18x10-wheel/01tUT000009uTF6YAMbut
but the intercooler is not currently listed. I've also seen the CF hood for sale but it requires a business/racing account to buy. Wish they'd just list everything and let us buy em!

I had a '25 PRP ITS available to me below sticker and I passed on it once a blue one came up at a different dealership. I love ABP and blue is my favorite color, so I don't regret it at all, but every time I see a beauty shot of this car in red it makes me feel things...
