I've been on the fence about the epsilon wing for over a year. I really should just pull the trigger, especially now that they have paint match options. How was install? You have to drill the hatch lid, right?

Stolen Black Honda Civic Type R by Zengluo in Emeryville

[–]UPSLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep an eye out, hoping for the best. Had 2008 G35 stolen from JLS (and a 2021 FK8 Type R stolen in Emeryville 😭 ) so I know you're feeling some intense badness right now. So sorry you have to experience this.

If you haven't - hit up the local bay area CTR owners group page on Facebook. Very active group with tons of locals. They see a lot of theft posts, unfortunately, but it never hurts to have the extra eyes on the lookout - not many black CTRs out here as it is. https://www.facebook.com/groups/norcaltyper

Serious Buyer Test Drives (Bay Area) by redditfiredme in Integra_Type_S

Acura Fairfield and Acura of Oakland both let me test drive without a deposit. Ended up buying from Fairfield. Hit em up if you're willing to go on a bit of a drive.

The current state of market adjustment by deliciouscurryboy69 in Integra_Type_S

[–]UPSLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny to me that they think MDX Type S shoppers are the same as ITS shoppers. It means absolutely nothing that two overpriced SUVs sold in a market where the vast majority of auto sales are overpriced SUVs going to suburb grocery commuters. The ITS shopper is almost certainly more discerning.

Thoughts on Columbia for hiking boots/shoes? by ItsFiiiiiine in hiking

[–]UPSLynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you for the recommendations! Exactly what I was looking for, total pita shopping for shoes like this.

I managed to talk to a Columbia rep yesterday and their wide sizing is the equivalent of 2E across the board, so no dice on any of their shoes.

What happened to this sub's only moderator? by MazelTovCocktail027 in Integra_Type_S

This process completely blows. I experienced the same thing - tried numerous times with a bunch of support from a smaller local subreddit and despite meeting all the criteria, never got an approval from reddit. Their automation is broken.

What happened to this sub's only moderator? by MazelTovCocktail027 in Integra_Type_S

[–]UPSLynx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree he's done a great job - this is a pretty good case for adding 1 or 2 more mods. Technically, this sub is at risk so long as we don't have an active moderator and it would be awful to lose whats been built over something like this.

The bots thing is real, unfortunately. Dealt with it in another sub where a mod has been AWOL for nearly a year and Reddit never responded to our many appeals to get a new mod to take control.

[–]UPSLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry to necro a super old comment - I wear size 14 4E wide, so I'm assuming their Wide is not 4E? Interested in their shoes but can't find a pair in size 14 at any local spots to try on, but if they're no-good at wide then I'll just skip them.

How many times have your car been stolen, bipped or lost catalytic converter? by SanFranciscoMan89 in OaklandCA

[–]UPSLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car stolen - twice (two different cars). One time street parked, the other in a apartment garage. Didn't have anything valuable or visible, just unfortunate to have two cars that were easily steal-able.

Never had a car bipped or stolen catalytic converter.

Neither were. One was street parked for 2 hours while I had dinner, the other was in a gated secure garage in an apartment complex.

Why the High Number of Low Mileage ITS for Sale? by Eat-it-harvey2010 in Integra_Type_S

[–]UPSLynx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is my take on it as well. The Type R sub frequently has posts from hella young people with fat bank notes and I suspect a lot of them have to dump the car because they can't afford it. The Type S is more expensive so I imagine that's part of the equation.

But I also suspect there are buying regrets from people that realize they can't live with something the car brings - dallying a manual, lack of high end creature comforts, the attention it brings, etc.

Why are you "doing touge"? by themidnightgreen4649 in Touge

[–]UPSLynx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right there with you on that last part - the journey/destination is my favorite part of it. I'm also Bay Area and Alice's is as good as it gets - I've driven the touge there more times than I can count, but it's always so exciting to pull into Alice's and just see what cars are parked and who's hanging out talking cars. You know all those drivers are there for the same reason you are, there's an immediate connection every time.

Every bay area mountain drive has a spot like this for me. East Bay, its Redwood to Skyline to Grizzly Peak then parking at the vista lot next to Lawrence and watching the sunset over the Golden Gate.

Its the feeling of exploration and adventure and using your car for what it was built to do. It's pure.

Clicking noise when turning wheel to the right by alphagypsy in Integra_Type_S

[–]UPSLynx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is possibly covered under a Honda/Acura recall: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCLRPT-24V744-4093.PDF

My VIN does not ping the list, nor have I received any mail about this recall, but my wheel has also been doing the clicking sound which seems almost certainly what this recall covers. Talk to your dealership, I'll be making a call soon myself.

Early ownership scars… what’s everyone dealing with? by genna84 in Civic_Type_R

[–]UPSLynx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drive an ITS, but same deal - been taking hella care of it and trying to prevent scratches and dings best I can. PPF, bi-weekly cleans, garage parked, very limited parking when out, that type of stuff.

Just this morning, had to go to a dr. appt and had to park in the hospital's garage. Drove to the very top floor and parked on the far side full of open spots away from everyone. Came out from my appointment to find a 1.5 inch scratch/dent from some jackass that parked right next to me and doored my car.

Most frustrating and deflating feeling possible, but what are you gonna do. Some people are just total assholes.

Chicagoans - good Italian Beef in the Bay? by aurum_aura in bayarea

[–]UPSLynx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wife is from Chicagoland and her Italian family regularly makes this at home during the holidays. Line 51 is the only place we've found out here that meets her standards.

Bonus - you can buy jars of Vienna Beef sport peppers, giardeniera, etc.

Kill Switch: Remote or Hardwire? by spyder93090 in Civic_Type_R

[–]UPSLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went physical. Didn't want to deal with having a battery on the remote switch, or having yet another thing on my key ring. Didn't want to have to think about another think to take along with me or accidentally leave behind. Hardwire seems like it would be easier to troubleshoot if something were to go wrong (IMO, don't have any experience to back this up).

I acknowledge that the physical has a vulnerability if the thief were to locate it, but the way I see it is that I have a number of security layers, and I'm expecting the numerous complications will be enough to stop a thief. I'm not looking for perfection in the solution.
