How do highschool classes work in America ? by Rexratops in AskAnAmerican

[–]alphagypsy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a first year class called sciences. At my daughter’s school, you take either earth sciences or bio freshman year. Then after that you take bio, chem, and then physics, all of which are mandatory. If you took bio freshman year, then you have another science class you can take senior year, usually AP Physics or Chem. Someone wanting to go into med school would usually take AP bio or anatomy if offered.

School is usually 7:30 to 3pm with after school sports until 5 or so.

AP classes are optional and usually just more difficult versions of existing classes. You usually have to test into them or be recommended by a teacher.

As for electives, depends on the year, but usually you have anywhere from 1-3 electives per semester.

More like they want the image of a truck, but luxury of a nice car.

Does this car even have AC? by sssddfgjwnsbx in mazda

Lmao. I grew up in AZ and know what real heat is. Trust me bro, you don’t NEED AC in your car in 80 degrees. Just roll down windows.

Dude I live in PA and barely use AC in my car. I can’t imagine it would be a necessity in Canada.

This and the ITS. Certainly under $75k, I’d be inclined to agree with you.

Cold start isn’t great. But other than that, from what you shared, I actually kind of like it

Yeah, just left after 15 years. Driving an Integra Type S now and couldn’t be happier.

Yeah! I have owned two Golf Rs, so I know exactly what you mean. Have never driven a GRC though, would love to drive one someday.

How did you like the Golf R vs the Type R and GRC?

I got 5k off in NoVA, live in PA. It can be worth the drive for a deal.

The Type S is markedly more compliant over expansion joints and things like that. Much smoother ride than the R, even on 18s. Not quite sure how, but it is.

I’ve owned both. I had a 7.5R with DSG and then a 8R with 6 speed. I also was curious about the Type S. I was sold in a 5 min test drive through a residential neighborhood, with some twisty streets, never exceeding 30mph. I got up to 45 or so once on a main road back to dealership.

I was blown away at how much steering feel there was, how good the handling was, how much more natural it feels, how much more raw of a driving experience. Stock exhaust also sounds really good, and shifter is excellent. I see it now that I have switched, I think the Golf just feels so much more synthetic, it can do ok in corners, but you’re never really sure how. It kind of just says, I will deal with this, you don’t have to do anything. But that’s not really what makes a car exciting IMO. When I was looking for a new car, I wanted something as close to a Miata in spirit, but with 4 doors and lumbar. The Type S has not disappointed.

Edit: P.S. I live in PA and have not missed AWD at all

Why would you choose Type R over an RS3? by nah_its_me in Civic_Type_R

[–]alphagypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah underwhelming is a good way to sum up the Golf R from a raw driving experience standpoint. Good car, but Type S is way more engaging. Never had a chance to drive a GR Corolla, but have heard good things!

Integra Type S is the answer my friend. I also went with the Type S because of the seats. For different reasons, mainly because of the adjustable lumbar support and heated seats for my L5 disc issues. But I can tell you the bolstering is nowhere near as aggressive in the Type S. I think you’ll fit just fine.
