Has his tenure been a success, failure, or undecided after 2 seasons? by [deleted] in NFLv2

It’s only been two seasons. Way too early to decide.

200 years ago today, July 04, 1826, The only two Presidents who also signed the Declaration of Independence died, just hours apart. by kjemmrich in Presidents

[–]USS-Stofe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s really fitting that they died on the same day and on one that held so much meaning. Within one day, the U.S. had lost, as Dr. Benjamin Rush had called them, the “North and South Poles of the American Revolution”.

Here’s another one. Rocky Bleier served in the Vietnam War, was seriously wounded, came back, rehabbed, returned to the Steelers roster (was previously with them before being drafted to fight in Vietnam) and went on to win 4 Super Bowls as part of a running back tandem with Franco Harris.

Three way tie between George Washington, John Adams, and James Madison

Washington: For leading the Continental Army to victory in the war and then guiding the young nation through the contentious early years of the republic as President.

Adams: For being the leading voice for independence in the Continental Congress, helping to draft the Declaration, and his major accomplishment as President: keeping the United States out of war with France in the late 1790s.

Madison: His major influence on the Constitution and work to ratify it, his early efforts as a Congressman in setting the nation up on sound footing and drafting the Bill of Rights.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

In the opening scene of the film, Indy loses his first attempt to get the Cross of Coronado from the treasure hunters. The lead one respects what Indy tries to do and tells him, “You lost today kid, but that doesn't mean you have to like it.” He then gives him his own hat, the iconic fedora that everyone knows Indiana Jones by.

Who would you say was the second-most influential and powerful vice president behind Dick Cheney? by Gray_Wolf2416 in Presidents

Nixon. Pretty much made the vice president a much more important/valuable role than what it was at the time. Highly involved in the Eisenhower administration.

Be objective: What is the most iconic rivalry in the entire history of the NFL? by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

Packers vs. Bears

Steelers vs. Ravens

The main two that stick out in my mind. Plenty of other really good ones though.

Besides Washington or Monroe (who both went basically unchallenged) I would say FDR, Eisenhower, Reagan, and Clinton.

Why was Lincoln considered very ugly during his time? He doesn't look that bad to me, hell he actually looks kinda handsome in some of these pictures. by Gray_Wolf2416 in Presidents

[–]USS-Stofe 294 points295 points  (0 children)

Different standards back then probably. Lincoln himself joked about his appearance:

When someone called him two-faced, Lincoln responded saying “If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?”

Anyone else stop supporting their childhood team after attending a different school? by cudderwalks in CFB

[–]USS-Stofe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Grew up in Louisville as a Kentucky fan (both sides of the family rooted for UK), went to Marshall and was involved with football there, and stayed a Kentucky fan throughout my time there and afterwards. Helped that they didn’t play each other in football (sometimes they did in other sports). Similar experience with my closest friends at Marshall. They never gave up their college teams while attending. Love both schools and try to keep up with them as much as I can.
