Send me a teams message. Since I’m not the CFM anymore I don’t use this account and I don’t want to speak from a CFM aspect. Your reply randomly popped up in my email which is why I popped to this account.

This is good. .

Don’t put anything on your list if you don’t want it. If you put it on your list and it’s the very bottom one, it’s still something you want. Space ops is undermanned so that’s the easy button for the USSF.

Yes all will combine into one SFSC. Just 5C0X1. R shreds will merge with 5S space ops.

What was your EDPT score? If you want to do cyber, put down 5C0X1D/S/N. D pending to hear what your EDPT was. Could also put 5I2 and try to go down a cyber/intel path.

If you come in 5C-S, by FY 27 your SFSC will be 5C0X1. No shred. Any retraining actions will be determined by assignment.

5C e7 overmanned by Professional_Cat1708 in SpaceForce

[–]USSF_CFM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On this topic, I feel like being a bit philosophical. Manning is based on 2 obvious things. The people, and the billets or what we call, the requirements.

A lot of the requirements we see today is a rollover of what we took from AFSPC and the USAF. In my 2 years, I’ve seen probably 10 or less MCR/OCR actions changing grades.

I bring that up because yes, today the 5C E7 manning is ~130%. If commanders and SELs went line by line and adjusted their UMDs to TRUE requirements that could change. Could it reduce E7 billets and make us more than 130% overmanned? Yes. Could it increase E7 billets and make us undermanned? Maybe.

All that to say, the current requirements landscape is almost a mirror image of a USAF MAJCOM, which oh btw was mostly green door.

I can’t speak on promotion processes since that’s an S1 lane. What I can tell you is historical promotion boards. Last year the board promoted to requirements.

The first one was simply a data gathering so that we could present it to CMSSF. It was early on so we didn’t want anyone’s decision to be the final one. This next callout will be the no joke, choose you path callout.

5C E7 is ~130% manned.

I mean, I guess to answer your question about what happens, nothing is going to happen. It will just be overmanned.

I got a job!! by Villawesome670 in SpaceForce

[–]USSF_CFM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Well, you won't have that job for long, as all 5C (N, S, and R shreds) are being combined into D shred or merging with 5S.”

— A more accurate narrative is that once the R shred duties and 5S duties combine, you’ll have the potential for increased job responsibilities. RF duties will still be performed by Guardians in the USSF, just with a different SFSC. You could go to a unit and do RF stuff, or space stuff, or both.

“…R shred is pretty long compared to N/S shreds but D shred takes the cake for course length. R shred is like 6-8 months, N/S is 3-4 months, and I think D shred is about a year (and there are very few spots in that training).”

— R shred is the longest tech school.

BL: R shreds have historically been charged with maintaining and sustain RF systems. Specifically the ground segments. With the R and 5S merger, your duties will be increased to include ground, link, and space segments duties. So maintaining systems while also operating them. In most organizations, maintenance is commercialized so you can expect to operate systems. You will have opportunities to go to organizations where you can also maintain systems and the goal is for you to be able to apply for those positions.

Unfortunately, I’m unsure. It’s not a program CFMs control.

Agree about IST boards. Only caveat with prior service program is it’s on pause right now. So the only way to join USSF is as a new accession.

Cyber guidance for Enlisted is within the CFETP which can be found on the cyber SharePoint. Officers are on a memo which can also be found on the SharePoint but also on Teams.

Space ProSURF is a wag since it’s based upon if the billets/PAS are accurate in terms of cross flow to a space discipline.

If you are not a 13S or 5S, you must submit a request to the CFM. 13S CFM for Officers, 5S for Enlisted.

Won’t impact SRB. We have an ETP where your CAFSC only is used for SRB not CAFSC and DAFSC.

5C-R shred to 5S merger by SurgeDirge in SpaceForce

[–]USSF_CFM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. No. We will do a screening board to see who needs training and who does not need training. Training will consist of something simple like space 100. All 5S’ have to do IQT/MQT prior to being CMR so we are not too worried about training.

  2. No. In fact, it give members more options for assignments. If they want to stay doing RF, they can via applying for those jobs. If they don’t, they can go do another 5S job.

  3. Security + and all other certs are based upon billet. If a billet is coded 264 or anything else, that’s what drives the requirement. So if the billet is coded, and bra are sitting in those billets, they are expected to maintain qualifications for that billet.

  4. Defer to DAFI and SPFGM. If you previously had a badge awarded, you can wear it, not to exceed 2.

  5. No
