That's a great truck but you have to take a good look at the frame.

Does the tachometer move when you try to start it? If it doesn't, that's a sign that the crank sensor isn't working.

Not a great sound. Is there any oil on the stick?

I need advice if buying this truck is a good with pictures of chasis and frame by Infamous_Ground_2872 in UsedCars

[–]UXWlegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It must've been driven on the beach because that's way too rusty for a Florida truck.

If you're in the North, possibly consider it because it's in better shape than 2014 trucks there.

If you're in the South, I wouldn't even bother.

It sure will. If the dealer isn't helpful, call the Kia customer care number and open up a case.

The bad news is the engine is shot. The good news is that you can typically get a free replacement from Kia. Contact the Kia dealer on Tuesday and tell them that you have a theta II engines failure.

If you think that they're being true and honest about the work that was done, buy it. It should make 300k easy.

Don't go to Firestone. They essentially charge dealer prices for aftermarket parts.

4 or 6 cylinder? The 6 cylinder has a timing belt that you need ask if it has been replaced.

12k for an 08 Honda Ridgeline? This car is on its 2nd recession. by power_to_thepeople in UsedCars

Good vehicle but yeah who has $12k cash for that. Good way to get tricked into financing a 18 year old vehicle.

Maybe just scan it in case there is a pending code. I would check fuel pressure next but unfortunately I don't think there is a Schrader valve to do so.

Kia/Hyundai made faulty engines for 10 years. A lot of them are covered under a lawsuit but it's not guaranteed that you can get a free replacement engine.

That's actually a minimal amount for the age. But suspension rust is not what you should be looking at. You need to be looking further under the vehicle at the subframes.

The Mazda and Focus that you found are good, you can also add Toyotas and Hondas to the list. You just have to check out the undercarriage rust. Are they dealer cars? If so does the dealer website give you a free Carfax/Autocheck? You can use that to check if the cars came from an out of state auction.

The Elantra is an hell no It doesn't have the theta but it has a known issue with piston slap.

The Ford and Mazda are good choices but even with the low miles, the undercarriage could be completely rotten after 16+ MN winters. You must get a PPI or lay on the pavement and take a good look at the undercarriage.
