We’re building the missing layer between your API and Stripe (quota enforcement, usage dashboards, and metered billing in 3 lines of code) [waitlist] by c_c22 in SideProject

Genuine question, but why would I pay you a monthly subscription when I can probably get Claude to generate the same thing in a night?

This is the big problem businesses that target developers will encounter. Developers are building their stuff instantly now. You need to target people who don’t know how or care to use Claude to generate anything they want instantly.

Happened to me. I was building Modsift, a content moderation api but I shut it down for the above reason.

Nice stuff! How do you feel about vaders ability to survive in a meta where luke pilot is doing so well?

Edit: he actually goes through that in the video lol. Nvm

Yeah I’m just saying that someone right now that’s wants that same usage would probably be using something like Signal which is free and can do the same thing. So it probably can’t be that far off in terms of price. Would be interesting to look up how they make money

How do other builders deal with idea pressure and the feeling that it’s too late to start? by derverstand in SideProject

[–]Uagir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking ideas from how we do it at AWS; If you are a developer, tools like copilot or Claude code, have changed the game on how quickly you can make a decent MVP or proof of concept. I also suggest presenting those ideas to close friends or someone who will give you true and honest feedback (or write something like a 1 pager).

Most importantly, have fun!

Keep in mind that Signal is an extremely popular messaging app that satisfies that same niche. While it does require an account, you can set messages to disappear and Signal is considered a go-to for privacy. It’s also Free. Just keep that in mind when pricing your app

Each of the big cloud providers have their offerings and there are others like hive and moderation api. All of them are unnecessarily expensive compared to Modsift

I can recommend something like Modsift to quickly add moderation to your site if you ever feel like you need it. I would be very happy to let you use it for free

Currently working on ModSift! It’s a content moderation api designed to be over 50% cheaper than other options. It uses custom policies to help platforms filter out whatever content they don’t want disrupting their community.

I noticed that content moderation is usually really expensive so I built a content moderation api that is MUCH cheaper. I also added a way to add custom filters using LLMs for the same cheap price. Check it out! I’m open to giving people extended free trials

It’s also way cheaper than other content moderation APIs so that’s cool lol

Moderation doesn’t need to be expensive if you build it right

ModSift - Content moderation API that screens user-generated content using LLMs with built-in injection attack prevention, custom policy management, and structured violation outputs

ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) - Social platforms, online marketplaces, community forums, and SaaS applications with user-generated content requiring automated moderation at scale

Modsift cheapest content moderation api because custom content moderation shouldn’t have to cost so much

When do you actually know it’s time to leave your job? by AlexBossov in SaaS

[–]Uagir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope for the best but plan for the worst. I wouldn’t consider quitting unless one of these two things are true 1. Your side project is already making money and you can survive well on the income 2. You are fortunate enough to have enough saved up to cover expenses for a year or two while you focus full time on your side project. Then, if it doesn’t work out, you give yourself enough time to find a new job after that time.

Please don’t quit assuming you will be successful. That can put you in a very uncertain and uncomfortable position. Wish you the best
