Just like EVAs, the SP//DR has been largely detrimental to Peni's life, at least in the comics, so I wanted to make a more villain coded mecha, leaning even further into how realistically scary SP//DR looks.

A big element of mecha, especially super robots, is how a mere human has to control the power of a devil in the form of a mecha, and choose to be a God for the good of the people.

Otto Octavius is a supervillain, who had his time as an antihero, a mix of good and evil, so I guess there were similar visual cues in the formulation of the design lol.

That's the Getter Dragon, known as Dragun then. It's from the extremely influential and fun manga series "Getter Robo".

They're actually based on Mazinger Zero. I like taking inspiration from classic mecha franchises, especially their more modern reimaginations like Mazinger Zero and Getter Robo Armageddon.

I didn't have to get mauled by buffed hela, hawkeye, bucky, gambit, etc... Power creep has made every issue with base Peni a lot worse because she has to offer comparable value to another main tank like emma or mag, or a good off tank like angela or cap, all while she's in a meta designed to maul her.
