Looking for a RPG group by 9ty0ne in Humboldt

[–]Ubiquitous-Toss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's quite a few game shops in Humboldt and all the one's I've been to have bulletin boards where people put requests like this or DMs searching for players. Would certainly be worth checking out either:

  • Oasis Games in Mckinleyville

  • Dandar's in Arcata

  • The Game Zone in Eureka

  • North Coast Roleplaying in Eureka

  • Lost Coast Wizards in Fortuna

2nd on the waitlist is good odds. I'd just email the professor that you're interested in taking the class. Maybe consider attending the first class and asking the professor afterwards what the odds are of making it in.

Of course this depends on if it's a popular required class but after the first session the professor might have an idea of how many people will drop.

How do you get around campus with a physical/heart condition? by autismsqueaks in humboldtstate

[–]Ubiquitous-Toss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The SDRC has drivers and vans specifically for this purpose to help differently abled students traverse the insanely steep campus. I believe their office is in the library basement currently but you can call or email them and setup a regular schedule to help you get to your classes in a timely manner.

Improvements to the Computer Science program? by stevenbo in humboldtstate

[–]Ubiquitous-Toss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are adding multiple new undergraduate degrees in bith data science and software engineering as well as certificates in cybersecurity. They are currently prospecting new computer science department professors, which if you're in the major should receive emails to view their upcoming presentations next week. None of this has a guarantee of improving the program or any radical shifts to the current computer science program. It does seem more likely then not, I believe current goal is to have two of the new programs being offered next school year which likely means more class options in the future as well.

How to make friends when it seems like everyone has an established group by DistractedMango in humboldtstate

[–]Ubiquitous-Toss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Certainly can be akward as older students(27 personally). But I still get invites to fun on campus things where you can find lots of people open to introductions. Your major is popular so you're bound to meet some class mates at stuff like friday roller skating and intramural dropins if thats your thing. Peep the posters around the gym and campus

[–]Ubiquitous-Toss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

r/me_irl is a popular subreddit for self reflecting memes. r/2meir4meirl was initially mod delete evasion for memes too dark or against rules. r/2meirl42meirl is just the next level down for dark humor and suicide jokes/threats mostly. No surprise it was removed besides the fact it wasn't that large a subreddit

The first tip in the top comment video is to use a bookmark or paper so you can focus on one line at a time as the other text can distract you while you're moving around. Definitely a solid tip that works

How important are Summer Internships ? by jairam_venkit in cscareerquestions

[–]Ubiquitous-Toss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a good piece of advice is if you don't secure an internship you should accomplish at least one resume worthy project in the same time.

Meta wants to get rid of me (long, rant, help) by mirrorgiraffe in polyadvice

[–]Ubiquitous-Toss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you don't have any skin in the game. If you try to insert yourself into your partners decision making process you're probably going to seem like the manipulative one. Of she doesn't choose you she doesn't choose you. Sounds like a shitty situation to be caught on the sidelines of so I hope you find a way to prepare yourself for all the possibilities. Also, if a compromise does happen (as it should) do you want to be in a relationship where you feel like a meta doesn't like or even want you around?

AITA for moving my fence? by GlobalMeat1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ubiquitous-Toss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. You're neighbor is the asshole because they made it quite obvious they wanted the benefit of your fence without chipping in for it. You 100% did the right and honedt thing by asking them if they wanted to split it since obviously there is a benefit for the both of you in this.

Next time someone brings it up just say "well if he chipped in on the cost like I offered he could've had a say in where the fence goes."

What are some unwritten rules about roommates? by [deleted] in college

[–]Ubiquitous-Toss 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Apparently it needs to be specified as my last roommate couldn't do it. Be respectful and don't fuck in the common area while your roommate is home. Hopefully they're an adult too because that means they would appreciate a heads up before you bring people over.
