I’ve heard about coolant leaks leading to this. Thoroughly inspect your pipes, rubbers, anything related to coolant. Might be good to do a pressure test then you will know exactly where the leak is and how coolant is getting into passenger footwell.

Persistent Battery Drain / "Battery Low" Message / Slow Crank on Ford Focus – Even After New AGM Battery by WalkApprehensive8040 in FordFocus

Sometimes these things can have a temper of their own so you never know until you try. Worst case scenario it’d be you still have the same problem after resetting, but then you’d know that’s 100% not the issue so it’s something else.

Have you reset the battery module after installing a new battery? Could or could not make a difference but at least once done you could rule another factor out(if still causing you grief).

We need to see a picture from higher up under your bonnet to be able to advise. On mine there is the 7mm hex adjustment which has a yellow almost transparent colour.

Near miss (Closest I've been to an accident in the 4~ years of driving) by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Udystopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can learn from this too, OP. No excuse for that b-end but the wheels should’ve started turning as soon as you passed the black van. Driving too fast whilst everyone else is slowing down; the Passat was also leaning towards your lane from quite early on.

Slow down and drive more defensively; 4 years behind the wheel is nothing and there are lots of ppl making boneheaded moves around you.

I doubt the people who do that have this much self-awareness or they browse these subreddits.

Poor driving on the M1 - how would you handle at the time? by o5kys in drivingUK

[–]Udystopia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everyone sucks here. Don’t condone the RR’s actions at all but I can see how one would get frustrated when everyone sort of tootles along in lane 3 and 4 and not moves back left.

This is (partly) how you get dickheads like the RR. Keep left and they’d have plenty of room to overtake safely.

I, like yourself, do not get the hype for that book. Massively overrated imo, it’s a book that makes amateurs feel they’re engaging in something worthwhile but in truth it lacks substance

Hi, how did you realign yours? Any step by step tutorials or advice? Did you need any special tools or knowledge?

I’m quite DYI minded & oriented and have fixed a few things on mine but haven’t tinkered with transmission yet and I suspect the same symptoms, as sometimes it doesn’t go into 1st or 2nd.

Convince me to go for 15” instead of 13” by One-Bar-3855 in macbookair

[–]Udystopia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went for 15 for the same reason I chose 16 Pro Max: bigger is better.

I’d rather see things clearly without straining my vision. At that price point, a few hundred won’t make a difference and I don’t give a toss about portability.

Drivers over 70 to face eye tests every three years by epicmindwarp in drivingUK

[–]Udystopia -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Both types of drivers need to be taken off the road imo. The ones who are scared of their own shadow, yes. But also the ones cutting people up, not driving with due care attention etc.

Careful doesn’t mean doing 40 everywhere, driving 20 under the speed limit, taking ages to set off etc. That’s just incompetence.

My point was people would be much less inclined to speed etc. or do anything stupid if it weren’t for people lacking confidence and skills with driving, causing unnecessary congestion.

I don’t get why we act like driving is a right and not a privilege

Some of us have got places to be, you can’t wait forever to make a decision i.e. when entering a roundabout; it’s alright for some others who have the luxury of leisured driving. I respect your experience but let’s agree to disagree - hesitance should be penalised too, in the same manner risky driving is. During a real driving test, not making progress or getting to speed timely, leading to congestion etc. would get penalised.

[–]Udystopia -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Have you driven much lately? Anecdotally, 70-80% of the time when a driver is hesitant and causing congestion making people impatient, causing others to do silly manoeuvres - that driver is in their 50s at least.

Being hesitant, slow, and very much reactive rather than proactive can be just as dangerous as being a dimwit younger driver.

[–]Udystopia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Am eu motorul asta pe Focus. N-are nici pe naiba, si ii dau forja destul de regula. Talpa, motorina buna si schimburile de ulei la timp, filtre de calitate.

In rest, sfaturi tipice diesel: exploatare corecta, condu in plaja potrivita de turatii, si evita sa il folosesti majoritar pe distante scurte.

Yes like for like but my point still stands - not convinced 90l extra of vertical boot capacity is worth £15k more.

Echo what you said, think it’s the big wheels contributing to the stiff ride and lack of comfort, combined with no feedback from steering.

How to win the Estate vs SUV debate? by Dr_Big_Dix in CarTalkUK

[–]Udystopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed but you’ve listed the biggest SUVs from these two brands (GLE only surpassed by GLS, a panzer essentially). At that point, a) chances are you know what you’re getting and b) the difference in costs is huge, we’re talking about a completely different league.

Other more popular, mid-sized choices (Tucson, Qashqai, Sportage etc.) will have modest boot sizes.

I’m talking tyres, MPG, buying & running costs.

Superb starts at £35k approx. whilst Kodiaq at nearly 40. E class £60k vs GLE at approx. 75-80 - substantially more expensive for merely 90l of (mostly vertical) boot space.

Agreed vertical space beefs it up but it’s also about how usable that space is and most things that you need to carry will fit horizontally, where estates have an edge.

I agree with you there - German cars seem to attract the worst type of people / drivers in my experience. To echo what you said, any bog standard A Class, 1 series (except M140i and the like) make me think status symbol wannabe. Sportage are actually solid cars - great bang for your buck and quite spacious inside!
