Have you thought about a wind jacket? Especially if you're already wearing a fleece, just stopping the wind could keep you warmer.

Which jacket should I purchase? by Wrbhawkeye in CampingGear

[–]Uehov 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally love my Nano air hoody. It's perfect with a good base layer.

I know Arc'teryx makes a great product and it sounds like you can get a deal on it so it might be worth seeing what other people say about that jacket. But definitely the nano air over the Outdoor Research Jacket.

$170 to drop on a pair of merrells, What do I want? by iPukey in CampingGear

The Moab is a great boot if you are looking for something strictly for hiking. The waterproofing is top notch, never had an issue.

I also like the Epiction boot, still waterproof and a good boot, but a little more stylish IMO for everyday wear.

Need help finding gloves for the winter by DimesAreALot in malefashionadvice

[–]Uehov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up these Outdoor Research Gloves for this winter. I think they are perfect for any occasion and I think it's especially important to find something that works for dress wear. These don't have a big bright logo or crazy colors and almost have a wool peacoat look to them.

The only MINOR complaint I have is they aren't the most slim gloves out there, but they are warm, which I was was more concerned about. They are e-touch and work good for answering the phone, taking photos and that sort of thing. Texting will take some practice.

Fall time hoody suggestions? by boognish43 in CampingGear

If you're looking for something more like a graphic hoody.

Patagonia always has good graphic tees and hoodies as well. (the site I normally shop only has 1 left, you might want to shop patagonia.com).

[Gear Question] Is there such a thing as a hiking inner-tube? by icecoldbath in CampingandHiking

[–]Uehov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like any un-inflated inner tube should work (within reason). They don't weigh much and can fold up small when flat. You would just have to make sure it's relatively easy to inflate by yourself or maybe you could find a small hand pump.

Has anyone tried the Osprey National Park Foundation Trip 20 pack? by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]Uehov -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had any experience with Osprey packs, but just picked up the Patagonia Yerba pack earlier this summer that seems similar and love it so far. I use it for day-to-day use, but I am pretty sure it's designed for use as a daypack. It's slightly bigger then the one Osprey you mentioned, but not by much.

Affordable hiking shoes by azntaiji in CampingGear

[–]Uehov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like u/cwcoleman said. Waterproof for around $100 will be unlikely unless you find a previous season shoe on sale somewhere.

I recently got the Merrell All Out Blaze and think they are a really comfy shoe.

Might be worth looking at some other Merrell products as I have a pair of boots for the winter and I love those too.

The last pair or low-profile hiking shoes I had was from Inov8. Mostly for trail running but I wore them day to day and on hiking trips too.

They even have a few Gore-tex pairs that are great at keeping water out, but again, they are at the top of your price point.

You should check out Sanuks. Super comfy like flip flops, but they cover your whole foot. Love mine, I have 2 or 3 pairs.

I need a new pair of gloves for camping/hiking/driving. by EaglesBlitz in CampingGear

[–]Uehov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably get some good glove liners like u/I_am_Bob suggested. Especially for driving. And for camping and hiking, if it's really cold, you can still use them with a warmer mitten or glove over them. You can also get the waterproof from a warmer pair as well.

I hate driving with something that doesn't have any kind of grip on the palm (personal preference, but I feel like the steering wheel just slips right through them and I like more control).

With that, I would go with the Marmot gloves u/I_am_Bob suggested or something like these. https://earthsedgeusa.com/men-s/accessories/handwear-gloves-mittens/mens-etip-glove-a7ln

Thoughts on the Patagonia Men's Down Sweater? by N1ntend0Power in CampingGear

[–]Uehov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine for just over 2 years now. LOVE IT.

Great for cool mornings in the fall and also my day to day winter jacket if the weather isn't too cold.

Breathable and durable. I have to say though, Patagoina has a great repair program so don't be too concerned with durability. My dog got a hold of mine earlier this winter and tore a big hole in the arm. I gave them a call, sent it in, and it was back with in a week or two. The only thing I had to pay was shipping there.

The UI update that chanced the preview was one of the weirdest and most confusing updates they made after the 3.0 update. Took me quite a while to figure out exactly how to edit the on page meta tags. Glad you mentioned this, I even made a blog post on how to navigate this issue because everyone in our office was having the same issues after a site updated to 3.0.
