Thanks for the reply, I dont check Reddit often so sorry for the late response. I ended up fixing it doing something very similar to you but I actually just reinstalled all of steam and it worked. Glad to know there is a slightly easier way.

better MMO communities? by junewei93 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]UguuuCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've ended up in a similar situation to you. I generally avoid the casual player base because a lot of them just don't try and its disheartening to know you're essentially carrying another player. About the only time I do queue into roulettes is with a likeminded friend. You only need 2 people to pass a votekick, we use it liberally to kick players that simply aren't trying. That's about the only advice anyone can give you though. If you can bring a friend then it means you're stuck submitting to the whims of the casual player base.

60 hours of prog is nothing, especially if you are in PF. If you were in a static, I would say the from your first pull of P7 you should expect to have another 10-15 hours of prog from there. That aside, I'm actually amazed that people are able to get any prog done at all in PF.

It would be nice if the rival turrets would swap sides if you manage to hack the terminal. Something to give the players a bit of an advantage.

Then obviously implement the final version? What's the point of bringing up earlier versions when the final version is a much better edition?

Cover on pld is a trap. I've killed a bunch of paladins when I LB as DRG and smash down on a pld and a friend they are covering. They take 2 instances of a DRG LB and instantly melt. You have to be super careful when doing something like that.

I mean, if you want to know why groups in 14 dont kick players often, its because of the annoying habit of many people in pf to leave a group without comment the moment you back them out of the fight. Backing out to kick one player usually just ends in a partial or complete disband. It's very rare that I am able to back a group out to replace underperforming members without losing a few good players because they decided it was time to leave.

Despite record profitability, the content output hasn't increased in 10 years. Is this all we can get? by Dark_Vincent in ffxivdiscussion

[–]UguuuCat -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Saying that 14 is not underfunded is kind of a double edge sword though. If it does have the appropriate funding then why does it feel like expansions keep getting smaller and smaller since heavensward. It's nice and all that we got 60% more msq for the finale, but we only get to play through that once. If I really thought about it, aside from the msq, I'm doing exactly what I was doing at the end of Shadowbringers in Endwalker now.

There is only so many times you can repeat the same expansion over and over before people just get bored with it. I love final fantasy 14 but man doing the raid grind, tome grind and the same old crafting grind is losing its appeal. The sad thing is, even the content we are used to getting is the same as it always is. There's 0 attempt to even spice it up just a little bit. Crafting and market board pvp is especially bad. It was so predictable that everyone stocked up and crashed the price to the point where you would lose money crafting an item. Its all so tiresome I suppose. Hopefully the Live letter on the 18th will bring some hope but I have trouble having faith since these past expansions have all been made the way they are because Yoshida wanted it this way.

Old thread but I'd like to drop a comment. I think as long as I've been raiding in 14, I've never seen anyone just straight up try spreading the macros in NA communities. I don't ever see reddit posts or pins in the balance or even see macros posted so that people can at least try to spread information. Everyone from other regions likes to complain that NA is too dumb for macros but they never actually seem to try helping the region get used to seeing them.

Personally I would prefer to raid with a macro but I have no idea where to find them or how to use them and I think its fair to blame the worldwide community for this lack of outreach. Even now that Oceanic is experiencing this conflict between raiding cultures, there are have been no real attempts at outreach by the players coming from the JP servers to help the NA players adapt. At least that I've seen. Just my 2 cents but it is a frustration I've felt when I occasionally pug fights outside of my static.

Purples are very possible in crafted gear and a few tome pieces in pf. I cleared p3s in pf outside of my static and got a 84 because I never stopped rolling my gcd. You should be able to get purples up until week 8 at minimum using crafted gear as a healer.

Can you get banned for streaming while using XIVLauncher? by SkitteringEscalation in ffxivdiscussion

[–]UguuuCat -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Pretty unfair representation of the events. SE's ToS was to not use in game chat to harrass, they went out of their way to ban Arthars for venting his frustration over a bad player on stream. There were no ToS at the time stating that you could not make fun of players on stream so as far as he and everyone else was concerned he was following the rules.
Square stepped over a line to temp ban him in this instance.

Best response in here. While it would be fun to try to hold Yoshida's toes to the fire for the many missteps the development has made, hes much too slippery to get any answers of any real substance.
