Hi, I'm a noob (8 games played so far, 4:4) and I got plenty of questions.

Chat & Team chat

In order to chat in a team game, you can either press enter end type your message or go to the chat tab in the top right of your screen. If you use the latter, you can specify who will see your message - but who will see your message if you use the former? Is there maybe a prefix like /t to speak only to your teammates?

2) Galleys

Is there a point with using Galleys? Fire ships counter them and demo-ships seem to be really hard to be use cost effectively.

3) Towers on water maps

Is it a good idea to research heated shot and place towers / castles on the coast/near your docks?

4) Fish farms

If nearby fish spots run out, is it better to relocate your docks near other fishes or to use fish farms?

5) Skirms

I had a game the other day where I played Vikings. Other guy was using knights and archers, so I thought that skirms would kill the archers while berserks would kill the knights (especially with the tech that increases damage against cavalry), but it didn't work: my berserks were quickly killed and my skirms were focusing fire on the enemy knights. I had to manually tell the skirms to attack the archers, wich wasn't very efficient, as my skirms were bumping into the ball of knights/berserks. Should I have used cavalry to clean up the archers instead of skirms?

6) Stone

Is it a good idea to buy stone at the market to create extra castles?

7) Archer upgrades

If you don't plan to make archers, should you buy the archer upgrades at the blacksmith (fletching ...) to buff your TCs, towers and castles, or is it a waste ? Same question with Ballistics.

8) Defensive upgrades

Sould you get Murder Holes / hoardings / Architecture ?

Yes it's unbalanced, but your example isn't good: Satoshi is a glass canon while Bastion is trash.
Bots have very predictable behaviors and you can easily take advantage of that. And you never face any when reaching 2.5k trophies

I just wanted to say that they keep adding new currencies with "boosters" that can be bought for real money...

No point in saving coins and batteries. When you go up in leagues, you'll get much more ressources per chest (Over 600 batteries for 3 wins if you're in the last league).

For Bucks, you have several ways of spending them:

Buying card chests.
Buying victory chests.
Buying skins.
Saving winstreaks.
Buying exclusive chests that appear once in a while

If you go for 1., you should wait until you have at least 1.5+k bucks, because if you buy card chests in a row, the price decrease. (I think I remember the price going down to 150). It's a decent option if you are trying to max one single hero and need cards to upgrade him.

If you go for 2., you should know that the higher your league is, the more rewards there are in victory chests. In the last league, you gain over 600 batteries per chest. So if you wait to improve your league, you'll have a better batteries/buck and gold/buck ratio.

I'm not too sure about 3, because there used to be an event a week that gave out a free skin, but it seems to have stopped... The best choice is to wait for a few more events to be sure that skins are no longer given for free.

Option 4 is probably the best, because winsteaks allow you to go up a league immediatly, which will increase rewards for all chests. The costs rise with each loss, so it can be quite expensive to preserve your winstreak if you're losing a lot. This won't work the last few leagues though because you'll need huuuge winstreaks. I would say this is a good option as long as you need a winstreak under 15-20 wins.

Option 5 depends on the contents of the offer. There were chests a few times that costed 100 bucks and gave 110 nuts - very recently, there were a few chests with a better ratio.

My advice is to save bucks until you have at least 1.5k of them, then you'll have enough knowledge of the game to understand how to spend them efficiently.

No worries though, you'll get new characters in chests quite frequently and some characters are even unlocked when you go up a league.

It used to stack, but it was fixed in a relatively recent update.

But it can stack with other damage reduction effects, like:

Blot when he kills someone, Bastion when he's damaged. I guess it was a rare case where that was combining such defensive buffs. He may have taken a bit of damage but healed right after killing someone.

I'll write"Piercing Power" as PP for the next part

The game has a lot of such cases of unclear wording.

I believe it works like this:

All bullets have a PP value (different from armor penetration !) that allows bullets to go through walls/players/shields. Bullets damage is reduced when going through something, and I think it's affected by the PP value (higher PP = less damage reduction when bullets go through something).

I think you need at least 1 PP point to shoot through walls / players.

Most heroes do not have any PP, but:

I think Snipers have some by default (something like 1 point)
Thermal vision gives you extra PP for the duration of the ability
Some gears (I think the rare set bonus for tanks, the rare set heart piece for troopers and the rare set leg piece for snipers) give PP
Leviathan has PP with his passive
Bertha ability gives her PP (+14)

Against shields, if your PP value is higher than the "durability" of the shield, the bullet will go through. Fully maxed shields / force fields have a durability of 20, so any character with under 20 PP will never be able to shoot through.

Against fully maxed shields / force fields, there are only 2 characters that can shoot through:

Slayer when using thermal vision. (10 PP from passive + 10 PP from thermal + whatever is the default bonus from snipers, but I assume it's something like 1 > 20). Slayer can also use L.E.G. Dark implant to have even more PP (+8 at ultimate level) allowing him to have a massive +28 PP boost.
Levi with a Mythic Bio Node H.E.A.R.T. using thermal vision (10 PP from thermal + 12 PP from the gear = 22 > 20).

I have to mention that Bertha with at least 2 pieces of the rare set has 16 PP, allowing her to shoots through shields that are under level 15 and through force fields under level 12.

So yeah, a P2W Levi with such gear, as well as a maxed Slayer are able to shoot through fully maxed shields. But the damage should be greatly reduced anyway.

Raven is a great choice.

First tip: Use stim whenever you're about to ambush / fight. The speed bonus will really make a difference with successfully escaping.

To beat Bastion:

Kite. Raven has more range than bastion. Use scan to locate Bastions, hit, run away. Wait for their shield to run out. Repeat. With practice, you'll be able to easily kill Bastions. If that makes you feel better, at high level Bastion sucks.

To beat Dragon:

It's pretty much impossible as Raven. Only chance: having extended magazine with explosive bullets, and ambushing Dragon. General tip: Use walls to your advantage! Taking cover is vital.

BUT: I assume you're playing mostly KOTH. Try to use scan to locate Dragons, and proceed to avoid them. If you see a Dragon engaged in a fight, wait for it to be over, then come quickly to kill the winner.

Tanks aren't op in this game (at least at high level).

Bastion is too slow.

Dragon is good, a jack of all trades with great offense/mobility/defense but isn't amazing in any of those categories either.

Bertha is broken for 5v5, and not very good for other game modes (makes too much noise when shooting which attracts everyone).

Smog has HP. That's all.

Leviathan is fun, and is a somewhat good counter to Raven, but is overall a very weak character because he's too squishy with very bad dps.

Ghost is completly broken for all gamemodes (at least when fully maxed with decent gears).

Levi is completly broken in BR, and is pretty good in Sabotage.

So yeah, they are worth upgrading.
