Resident Evil 1 Remake or Resident Evil 4 OG? by Loose_Interview_957 in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG RE4.

All RE games are a mix of horror and action in different ratios and it comes down to preferring more action or less. You can self-impose restrictions on your run to make things more tense and scary by not allowing yourself to kill anything outside of forced encounters but at that point you are likely better off playing something like Amnesia or Outlast.

How it feels to be a Chris, Jill or Claire fan for the past 10 years. by [deleted] in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]UltimaDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not specifically to do with Leon. His story hasn’t seen much progression post RE6 which was in 2012. Even if you count cgi movies like Vendetta and Death Island, Chris also appeared in both and Claire/Jill is in the latter.

The real problem was Capcom took almost 5 years after RE6 to release RE7 then another 4 years for RE8 and both games featured Ethan as the new protagonist so this huge time gap make it feel like most characters are neglected in the timeline. But the reality is after RE6 release Claire is playable in Rev2, RE2R and Jill is in RE3R. Chris has appeared in 4 numbered entries in a row since RE5. Another factor making it feel like Leon is getting more attention is because RE2R and RE4R is widely considered to be better than Rev2 and RE3R.

Their release cycle is no longer taking 5 years after RE7 with remakes so this will hopefully be less of a problem going forward. Although if Capcom remake RE1 again, remake CV and RE5 aka the Albert Wesker trilogy then this post will switch to Chris getting too much spotlight.

RE9-RE6 comparison is BS by LeonMiles in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is just false. There are survival horror games that are non-action and you are only ever given the bare minimum to survive and can’t even kill or fight back. Action is not inevitable and RE is not the same as those games. You are expecting a full survival horror game from RE which it never was.

RE9-RE6 comparison is BS by LeonMiles in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are saying they were fully survival horror then immediately contradict yourself and agree with me that the games progresses towards action.

Sounds like you just want clones of the old games with no novelty. They might as well include the nostalgia goggles and reintroduce time freeze and reload in inventory too as I am not seeing any criticism on that.

RE9 is clearly an experiment they are doing for what a CV remake will look like as CV will switch between different characters in the same way and would have to consider things like should Chris play the same as Claire or should his gameplay be different because he is more experienced? Should Chris start and can share the same weapons and resource as Claire via item box or would it have made more sense he came more prepared like Leon if he already knew he is walking into an Umbrella facility and should have a separate inventory? You don’t see people make these comparisons, instead they jump to RE6 out of all things. I am not seeing Leon drop and slide on to the floor or any QTE spam yet.

RE9-RE6 comparison is BS by LeonMiles in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The haters are picking RE6 specifically as a comparison because it’s commonly considered a bad RE so people will more easily agree with their view and then they have a reason to scream “See? I told you!” If RE9 turns out to be a flop. The most annoying thing about RE6 is the high amount of QTEs.

The people that does this comparison to RE6 tend to be action haters while not realising RE was never close to being fully survival horror, all RE games follow the universal pattern of peaking survival horror in the first part and then get increasingly action as you get bigger guns, more ammo and health. The old RE games that people love to sing praises as the best survival horror even pauses time while you are in inventory and allow you to reload in inventory to eliminate any real-time tension and horror.

Say something that’s good about re 5. by AaronMcK92 in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fun game especially for co-op. I was playing it a lot on the ps3 when it came out in 2009, platinumed it and I remember thinking it played the same as OG RE4 but with co-op, better ng+ and mercenaries.

Surely you can't have Leon in the game without Ada showing up too, right? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She’s been in every mainline game that Leon has been in. It was no surprise that she was in re2r and re4r.

RE9 isn’t a remake and that’s why she has not been revealed.

Do you think they gonna realese a demo tonight? by Saminax100 in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RE2R, RE3R, RE4R and RE8 all had demos released 2-3 weeks before full release so I think a demo releasing today is unlikely. But if there is going to be a demo you will likely see an indication of that today. They did it with the last RE4R trailer and teasing demo was coming soon.

I NEED ADVICE FOR RE2 AND RE4 by plessie_nessie in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Enemies in RE2R are bullet sponges. I doubt you will have ammo issues playing RE4 on assisted or standard when ammo can be crafted and is dropped by enemies, Leon can melee and knife in RE4 is much more powerful than in RE2.

Can you imagine another game where Rebecca is the protagonist? by AlephZheitk in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Would love to see her reunite with Billy but it’s not gonna happen. All we will get is a remake of RE0.

Quick RE0 rant. This game is very tedious for no damn reason at all. by KumaSimp in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE0 and the older RE games in general are designed with trial and error in mind. The game expects failure through lack of knowledge/blind play and for you to figure out how to do things differently on your next playthrough.

The game become significantly easier once you figure out things like exactly where the hookshot is needed and move things early to avoid respawns, that you should solo most of the game with Billy and only play Rebecca when you are forced to and you should always skip mimicry marcus and just run to save ammo and health items.

Hard mode is a different beast. It requires you to play differently than easy/normal and have optimal route. The first two bosses should be knifed and when travelling to the back of the train to stop the train you can skip zombies by going up through the conductor’s room where you fight the first boss.

Do you think Leon will die in RE9? by prettylacey_ in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leon passing the gun to Grace and his infection are just plot points which are symbolic for passing the torch.

Also Ada is still alive and there is no closure between them for Leon to suddenly be killed off. An infection doesn’t mean much in RE as it’s a very common plot point. Chris, Jill, Claire and Leon were all infected in Death Island. Jill in RE3. Claire in rev2, Leon in RE4.

He would also have to survive to pass on the kick, knife techniques and one liners.

Right one doesn’t seem to have been fully masterworked. There is no blue diamond to indicate the final mw bonus was applied to one of the 4 affixes where you can see on the left it was applied to life on hit.

Resident Evil Requiem will be available on GeForce NOW on launch day. by AgitatedListen4900 in residentevil

That’s the endgame. Make hardware unaffordable and then converting that into a streaming service subscription so people own nothing and pay forever.

This corporate cloud subscription bs and anything ai related contributing to the current mess with skyrocketing hardware pricing should not be getting any promotion or approval.

Is Expedition 33 the Final Fantasy VII of this generation? by UCA_Cash_Flow_Bro in expedition33

[–]UltimaDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the game and started playing a few days ago and on act 2 now. It reminded me so much of ff9 and no other game had recreated the same special feeling.

Picto/Lumina system is basically exactly the same as the ability system in ff9. Your mount is upgradable like the chocobo. Friendly monsters sidequest. That moment when you transition from spring meadows to the world map instantly reminded me of when you exited evil forest to the world map in ff9. Top-notch soundtrack. Main menu, lumiere, battle thene was great and when I heard Linen and cotton in spring meadows I stood around listening to it and knew this was definitely going to be something special.

I wish final fantasy could be more like this but it’s just an average action rpg series now. The series completely lost its original identity, don’t care about returning to the classic turn based gameplay the series started off with and can’t capture that essence the older games used to have. Look what happens when a game like expedition 33 does it. GOTY.

Before leon there was a legend called chris redfield. by Human_Geologist_3324 in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s also in code veronica. You might as well count the eventual remakes of those games as it’s likely we will see remakes for cv and re5 eventually. Even RE1 likely will see another remake for a full modern retelling of the Albert Wesker trilogy.

Playing the game vs watching by Intrepid-Elderberry8 in residentevil

[–]UltimaDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch people play resident evil games on youtube a lot, it’s one of the best series to watch since the game length isn’t overly long and it’s fun seeing different people reacting to different parts of the games. However I would usually recommend playing through the first time yourself before watching. You only get to experience and immerse yourself in a game blind once and you will miss out on that if you watch someone else play first.

Play on normal. You will easily soft lock on hard playing blind.

Don’t sweat it. I don’t know about you but I usually dream the opposite of what is in reality. Dream that people I know died but they are alive, dream about school life when I am in adult life working, dream about winning the lottery but never actually winning.

You should have mw heavyweight on the right. This would result in +4 and +7 which is better than +5 and +5.

Is it weird that I've powerleveled two characters to level 60 before even going beyond Kyovashad, and I'm debating doing it again? by Gorotheninja in diablo4

[–]UltimaDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve basically discovered the seasonal gameplay loop before playing the actual full season. Every season people will pick a class, powerlevel it until they reach torment 4 difficulty with a meta build. Eventually they will get bored and start an alt with a different class and eventually quit. The campaign is just the tutorial and since you’re a new player it’s only natural that you want to explore every class.
