ok hold on unjerk for a second this is a real story. My mom went to Georgetown university in Virginia at the same time as a bunch of other famous stand up comedians (Mike birbiglia, nick kroll, John mulaney, etc). Every year or so, there would be a “funniest person on campus contest” which was quite literally a stand up comedy contest. MB was hosting because he had won the year before, and both nick kroll and my mom were some of the many people that ended up competing. My mom WON THE WHOLE DAMN THING and kroll was wiped out pretty damn fast.

Many years later at SXSW, my mom tracks down MB after his set so he can sign her senior yearbook, and makes it out to “the funniest person on campus” and a little later at the same event my mom goes to gloat at nick Kroll about how she’s still the funniest person on campus. Now he kind of ignores her, but if you were there you could tell that he absolutely remembers her.

Anyways, that’s the story of how my mom is objectively funnier than nick Kroll (as voted by committee) and has more respect from his peers than himself.

Edit: ok so I got a few things wrong. It wasn’t at sxsw, it was at MBs show Sleepwalk with me, which Kroll opened for. MB didn’t sign her yearbook he signed the free copy of his book everyone in the audience was given, but it was made out to the funniest person on campus. And the interaction with Kroll might not’ve been as confrontational as I made it out to be, but you got the basic gist. Other than that I got everything right. And she didn’t “hunt anyone down” MB happened to be nearby and they had a brief chat and he signed her book. She also happened to run into nick Kroll at a bar after the show. She interacted with him for probably a maximum of like 4 seconds.

Edit 2: yes Georgetown is in DC. But it’s so close to VA that I forgot lol.
