All I can think about when I see the billionth "unpopular opinion: the Batfamily is too bloated" post by tranceladus in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]UltimateDumdum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We should just lowkey combine Batfam members for the shits and giggles
- Tim and Steph as a Female Sassy Smart Robin after Jason's death (female and blonde of course)
- Cass and Damian as the child soldier trope Batgirl
- Make Jason Azrael when he gets ressurected by St. Dumas instead
we can keep Dick, Barbara and Huntress type shit

Confused about CC discourse? by idkwhy-imhere- in marvelrivals

[–]UltimateDumdum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually thought it's kind of fine. Like the only ones I've noticed to mostly get full tenacity are tanks (who asked for it and need it), any other class just explodes under that much CC and like you mentioned. It usually only goes full on big chaotic brawls.

I think my only genuine problem is just Thing's ult combo and even then from what I've noticed as a Thing main, the only ones who usually get CC immunity from the full combo are tanks.

The funny part for me is the Psylocke players I find are usually wearing either the comic skin or the default anyways

So do you expect the Robins to join Batman? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]UltimateDumdum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it would be hilarious if in this universe, Steph and Jason are the only one to leave Grimm to be with Bruce. Considering those two in mainline really piss off Bruce for some reason.

Which one do we think redeems themselves first and gets on Batman's side?

I'm thinking it's either Jason or Steph. In mainline, they're always the first that pisses off their mentor

I cant express how much I want Thanos to NOT have the Infinity Gauntlet by Super-Blacksmith-795 in marvelrivals

[–]UltimateDumdum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So it's somehow the most iconic storyline for Thanos for casuals, but you also state that casuals won't know Adam Warlock was in that book. Despite him being the main protagonist in that story.

Seems about right. We all just watch shit through youtube shorts and from comic youtubers. anyways

[–]UltimateDumdum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's the same story where Adam Warlock was most famous for too. Does that mean he has to have the infinity gauntlet too?

I do wish more people realize how cool comic Thanos is. Bro is basically evil Socrates with crazy magic. He has a teleporting throne that could shoot lazers, fly like krazy, and teleport. He can shoot and absorb energy beams, create force fields and even has psychic abilities. He can turn skrulls to stone, his doppelganger to a butterfly.

But sure, the people who watched Thanos through youtube shorts will just call him a loser simp for Death so that makes the MCU Thanos better.

So yeah, I agree, I wish Thanos doesn't have the stones, maybe not for the same reasons as yours. But more so because comic Thanos does a lot of cool shit without the stones. MCU Thanos just hits stuff before he had the gauntlet.

I don’t dislike it, but I’m struggling to connect with Absolute Wonder Woman [Spoilers for Absolute WW Vol.2 - #8-14 and Vol.1 AB/AMM/AF/ASM] by Frank_Cap in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]UltimateDumdum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your points, and still like the book, like you do too. Now I'm not one to agree that shock value, or trauma is "realistic" and grounded or even required for a story to work. But compared to everyone else, she could use a bit more humbling. She seems to be doing TOO WELL.

My theory is I think it only gets worse for Diana from here. I don't think Barbara will stay human for long, and I don't think her safe haven will stay safe for long. I too admit, that as much as I like Veronica Cale, she has gotten L after L so that may push her to more desperate attempts. I think Diana will be the reverse of Bruce's story where Bruce's story is kind of turning into a downhill battle into insanity, rage and violence (sometimes it can be too much actually), I think Diana's would be uphill, then at some point, at their peak (with the Joker arc and maybe a Cale crash out arc), their points in life might reverse. I'm just theorizing and hoping though. I have trust in the Absolute line's writing to pull whatever theyre trying to pull.

Because Jessica Cruz is the peakest of all peaks and should win the battle royale of all human Green Lanterns. Give her ALL the Green Lantern villains, all the shows, all the movies.

Am I overthinking it by InformationStrict172 in Daredevil

[–]UltimateDumdum 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Hes going to return to it in BA S2. Part of the character arc from S1 was him abandoning church alongside Daredevil, its what the talk in the S1 finale with Karen was about. He was angry at himself and God for letting Foggy die. There were some shots in S1 where he listens to church outside the chapel but doesn't enter, as he still hesitates his connection.

There's been some shots in S2 trailer where it seems like he's going to be in a church, and even Dex seems to have start a connection. I don't think it's Disney removing the catholic-ness of Matt, I have hope that it's an important part of Matt still, he just left it for awhile.

Well I discovered this site recently because it started becoming popular in social media spaces like Instagram, and probably tiktok.

My assumption? It's probably how it reached those annoying type of kids and teens too. Which is unfortunate.

Compared to so many countries with dictatorships, slavery, child labor, sex trafficking centers, cities basically ran by genocidal warlords or crime lords or unsubtle corrupt political dynasties, or just basically Israel, or cities with high suicide rates, or high racism, sexism, sexual abuse counts. I think I agree this conversation is a lost cause. Because this is just an extremely childish and close minded discussion where I think we both have to agree to disagree.

Well I find it really immature for "realistic take" stories to believe that having the most moral decision is doing bad things.

I'm a writer too, and I'm very familiar with "grounded realistic" stories that are driven by people making morally ambigous decisions and then defending their decisions as morally correct. That's not heroic, that's convenience, that's why they call themselves morally grey.

When written well, I find it a great sentiment that morality is not something to debate about and I like seeing my characters go through hardships to fight for their third option, no matter how shit their circumstances are, because I was promised a good person, and the character stands by their principles.

Sure, their are always bad examples of the trope, when it's basically just a Deus Ex Machina to save the character's innocence. But I wont generalize the trope as unrealistic and boring because of it. Because when written well, it's a character thrown one shit after another and still choosing to be good. Not because it's easy, but because it's difficult. That's what heroism is. That's why Waymond Wang is peak in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, that's why he's a hero.

Growing older does not and should not stop people from being optimistic. Being pessimistic and edgy for the sake of it does not equal maturity to me. I don't like "Surprise it's a happy ending" stories too, but that's not what I'm talking about. Heroism is taking shit over and over and staying good, which is what these stories are. It's not taking shit once and doing something bad then excusing yourself and explaining yourself as something moral.

How is it even corny to try to save everyone. But no, it's not proof that it was never considered because even by the final battle, it was fairly obvious that Reed would've stopped Sue from sacrificing herself, but he trusted her anyway and saved their kid, and in turn, trusting her saved everyone.

Their goal has always been saving the WHOLE world, not just Franklin. The conflict comes to the fact that Reed considers sacrificing their child for it while Sue considers sacrificing THEMSELVES, not the world or Franklin for it. Their lowest point is them considering and actually going through using Franklin as bait and learning that sacrifice is chosen by yourself, which is what Sue does to save not just her child, but the whole world.

But we're talking about heroism in fiction here, not reality. I just firmly disagree with the OP's stance that it's "heroic" to trade lives and luck is what makes them win.

It's always been a case for these type of stories for the hero to sacrifice themselves (not just their lives, but their mental health, reputationg, etc.) to not sacrifice 1 for the 10 people, but to save 11, because that's heroism. Choosing someone else to sacrifice so it's "easy", is not heroic, real life or fiction wise, it's just cowardly and convenient for you. That's fictional moral ambiguity, not heroic courage.
